We moved here from Kansas after 70 years so when we needed a Vet we contacted Carrboro Plaza Vet. Dr Anderson and Emily our Vet tech were fantastic! They knew we were very upset about Olives current medical issues and they took the time to listen and exam Ollie! While we are waiting for the next treatment suggestions we are at ease with Ollie’s condition. I’m sure we will get her back to her normal self!

Everyone who works here is kind, caring, professional, and their love for animals is evident. The care provided to all of our pets has been excellent. The docs take exceptional care of our fearful-aggressive former street dog and for that we are especially grateful. Absolutely recommend to anyone needing a great vet clinic.

We have used the doctors at Carrboro Plaza Vet. Clinic for 30 years, and they have always given excellent care to our pets. The doctors that we first used in 1994 have almost all retired, but they have been replaced by a group of amazing young veterinarians. I cannot recommend this group highly enough!

We’d taken our dog to this practice for his entire life. There were some excellent vets years ago and for the most part they have been competent over the years until recently.Well sadly our dog had to have cataract surgery (at a speciality clinic) but afterwards everything seemed to go well. After a couple of years went by, we were at a regular checkup at Carrboro Plaza & we asked them to look at one of his eyes that had turned cloudy. They did a quick check, said his “optic nerve” was ok and we were relieved.Fast forward a few weeks and his eye looked even cloudier. We went in for another issue but asked them about his eye again and once again we were assured it was ok.Well, the following week it really seemed to bother him so we went back to the specialty eye clinic and they said his optic nerve was damaged and he had glaucoma. They told us if it had been caught sooner we might have been able to do something to save his vision. I was really upset that Carrboro Plaza had missed this. A simple eye pressure check would have revealed glaucoma. When I called them out on this in an email, instead of an apology or any acknowledgement at all, they responded by “firing” us from the practice.We tried medications for several months but he end up having to have his eye removed. A lot of unnecessary suffering for our sweet pup and instead of simply apologizing and acknowledging the error, Carrboro Plaza Veterinary Clinic had the nerve to “fire” us. Well, that wasn’t necessary because we had no faith in their competence any more.

Over the past 20+ years, we have brought 3 cats and 4 dogs here to be seen, treated and cared for. Carrboro Plaza Veterinary Clinic has always, each and every time, provided excellent care for all of our animal family members. The staff and doctors have all treated us with warmth, kindness and compassion when we've brought our animals for routine visits. The same holds true when we've had to let go of a beloved pet.

I've been bringing my cats here for a few years and they are exceptional. They don't just work tirelessly, they do it while listening, helping, and being kind. They make you feel like your animal is the only animal - never rushed or distracted despite almost always being busy. Always available to answer questions, and always friendly. Honestly I don't know how they do it, but my cats and I are so grateful (especially Ollie).

We switched to Carrboro Plaza Veterinary on the advice of a friend. The doctors were nice enough but the staff not so much. It started when we took our Jack Russell in for her allergy shot. Mind you she's received this same shot for 2+ years and had never yelped or flinched until that day when she did both. When my husband questioned why that could have happened the tech responded that they had just taken the serum out of the refrigerator and it can hurt when it's cold. If that's the case why are you KNOWINGLY hurting my dog? When we informed them they needed to have it warm the next time we were met with an eye roll. This should have been our clue to seek another vet but we stayed to be met with yet another incident.The second incident came when my husband went into the clinic to get Heartguard and was told he could only get a limited amount for 2 of our dogs and we couldn't get any for one since their Wellness exams were overdue. This was a surprise to us as this hasn't been a policy of any previous vet we've been with.I called back later to get a better understanding of the policy. I explained that bringing in 3 dogs was stressful for all involved and we don't like bringing in the pups unless absolutely necessary. I questioned why a wellness exam wasn't performed when we brought them in for their shots earlier this year. I also question why you would hold preventative medicine hostage as this seems counterintuitive to the care they should be striving to provide. Finally, I stated that if the wellness exam couldn't be sync'd up with the timing of when they received their shots then this would be problematic and we'd need to consider our options. The response to this statement was "I'm happy to send your records wherever you need me to." I had expected her to say "Of course, we'll get those sync'd up and this one time we'll make an exception and give you 6 months of Heartguard to tie you over."Before writing this review, I tried emailing and calling requesting one of the doctors call me back so we could have an adult conversation about what was happening. Not surprisingly, they did not respond. I suspect, but do not know for sure, that the owners/vets have no idea I emailed or called. I cannot imagine a business owner that knowingly allows their staff to consistently (from what I'm reading in other reviews) treat clients with such disrespect and knowingly causes an animal harm.Unfortunately, given the lack regard for an animals wellbeing/comfort from their staff, obvious money grabs in the form of high prices and a mandates for unnecessary exams, and disinterest in the wellness of the business by the owners, we're left feeling frustrated and let down and as though we have no other course of action than to take our business elsewhere.

I’ve been going to Carrboro Plaza Vet for years. I had a cat with inflammatory bowel disease. They did a fantastic job of helping me treat him. The same cat was diagnosed with cancer. His prognosis was not good. Dr. Marin was very compassionate when I told her I wanted to focus on quality of life. He was 14, already had a chronic condition and the cost of treatment is astronomical. They never made me feel bad about my decision to not pursue chemo etc. When it was time to let him go, it was handled with total kindness and professionalism. When a pet parent is there to let their pet go, they light a candle at the front desk and put up a sign asking clients to be quiet/respectful. I really appreciate that. Years later, my dog developed a condition that caused his nails to be very brittle and break easily. I had taken him to a different vet, who did not diagnose him or offer help. Dr. Marin diagnosed him with a rare condition and gave a course of treatment that has been very effective. Dr. Marin has moved on, but every vet I’ve interacted with has been great as well. I took my dog in recently for his annual wellness visit and they were so nice and praised me for taking such good care of him. That always feels good! The front desk staff, many of whom have worked there for a long time, are always so nice and courteous. I think it says a lot about any business, when they have long term staff. The technicians are fantastic as well. My pets mean everything to me, and I feel secure and confident that they’re going to receive great care here.

They are upfront about pricing and do everything they can to add convenience and value to their services. You can't go wrong with CPVC.

I can not say enough about the Carrboro veterinary plaza. Everyone there is friendly and caring. We were visiting from Michigan last fall just after our cat was diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Dr Steven’s stepped up an made room to see Cole and help me manage his treatment. They took exceptional care of both of us, sent lab reports via email promptly and answered all my questions. We are back and needed to take Cole in for an upper respiratory infection. They got us in the very next day and took very good care of him. I would highly recommend this wonderful practice!

I was concerned about my puppy with his jaw. Teeth and mouth. They took advantage of me the second time when I didn't have enough for shot the first time. Not covered by insurance. They keep asking if fees are too much.

We have been going to Carrboro Vet for many years. The front desk has never been particularly friendly. A couple of days ago, our dog was in great distress - of the dying sort. We called them, thinking of them as our doctor. The front desk told us, in no uncertain terms and with no kindness, that they were fully booked that day and there was no way they could find time for us. Go to an urgent care, they said. Just like that. They couldn’t have cared less about us, our pet, or the situation we were in. We had no idea what to do. We had relied on them for care. It felt very stressful to have to think about finding an urgent care, wondering if they would take care of our dog, etc, in a moment of great stress. I have no idea if 15 minutes of their time would have made a difference but our dog died that day.If you want a place that will see you at their convenience, keep going to them. If you want a vet that will be there when you really need them, or at least treat you with warmth if they can’t help, find a different place with different receptionists.

I recently moved to the area and was nervous about finding a new vet - but my cat was having some upper respiratory issues and I was able to get in ASAP to see the vet. The staff at Carrboro Plaza Vet Clinic were not only helpful and accommodating, but also showed a high level of care and thoughtfulness. Dr. Anderson and the staff exceeded all my expectations, and I feel very relieved to have found my cat a good place to go when needed. I cannot recommend Carrboro Plaza Veterinary Clinic highly enough!
