This place is dive bar-y in the best of all possible ways. My relatives had been here before and had said once they had to walk once due to bad service. That's the difference between them and me I would not darken the doorway again if I had received the treatment they described to me. That being said the service was fantastic. The place was jumping when we came in for a late lunch. Two of us went raw oysters. They were good and the cocktail sauce was very horseradishy and tasty. My other relative got a fish sandwich. We were still hungry so we ordered some lemon pepper scallops that were outstanding and some crab wasabi bites that were tasty. Seemed to be only two people waiting on everyone and they did a wonderful job. Great food, down to earth atmosphere, reasonable prices and the coldest beers in town! This is a local haunt with some good seafood fried or steamed. Had the friend shrimp basket. The shrimp must just look at the batter because they were perfectly lightly coated. Comes with 2 hush puppies, fries and slaw. The cocktail sauce was awesome! Tuna bites were cooked perfectly. Bud lights ice cold. No draft beer but they have a full bar.

Definitely seemed to be a locals eatery and bar... loved the atmosphere! Enjoyed listening to them discuss the fishing. The food was AWESOME! Started out with a half pound of grilled, blackened shrimp (could've eaten a pound!)-THE BEST! I then had the double Philly cheese steak and fries, while my son had the BBQ sandwich and fries. Let me say, the Philly cheese was 'off the chain'!! My son said the BBQ sandwich was the best he'd eaten. There was enough pork for 2 sandwiches anywhere else. The staff was great! This little roadside bar and grill is a MUST if you're on Hatteras island! I will be back!

We drove down from Rodanthe based on a fellow campers recommendation. This seems like a great local bar for a quick meal. If you want a fine dining establishment, look elsewhere. If you want some good fried seafood in a bar and grill setting, this is for you. For an appetizer we ordered the crab nuggets. Yummy and full of crab! We both had the three from the sea fried platters. Generous portions and fair prices. The cole slaw was good, too! We left full and happy!!

Great 1st timer lunch visit. Friendly bar with tables and porch seating with a solid seafood menu. Paper plates, porch picnic tables vibe but with plentiful and fresh hot seafood. Our table had raw oysters, fried oysters lunch platters (w/ fries, hush puppies and cole slaw - all strong on the accompaniment scale), grilled flounder sandwich and shrimp po boy. Service good and attentive. Not a fancy place but a "we'll be back often" seafood lunch spot.

I will tell you this. It was the best fried seafood in Hatteras. The oil Pop uses may have been 10w30 and those hush puppies may be fried on a radiator but that only added to the flavor. If you need a white table cloth or flower arrangements and soft music you probably aren't reading this anyway. Three football games on the wall. Cold beer. Generous liquor pours. The massive amount of cars around non descript buildings are what we look for in a good restaurant. Did not fail me eating here. A plus to Karen and the crew at Pops. You guys were great.

I agree completely with other 5 star posts. Great local hang out. I been coming to the area for a long time and been by Pop's several times. So glad we stopped. The food was excellent and service was awesome. The 'Crab Nuggets' we very tasty. They were like mini crab cakes. Fried perfectly on the outside with a soft yummy crab bite in the center. The inside of Pop's is a large bar area in the center and on the inside perimeter was table seating and on the porch is additional outside seating. Prices are very fair. My burger was done right. I got a simple American Cheese Burger with LTMO and fries. Enjoyed this very much. I like the family picnic style plating. Definitely recommend. Pictures below.

This our first time at Pop’s. We ordered off the lunch menu right when they opened at 11am. Staff was very chill and friendly. We got a dozen oysters which were served in a very cold container over ice. They were delicious. My boyfriend then ordered the fried oysters which were HUGE and delicious. I ordered the fish sandwich. They had Tuna, Catfish or Trigger Fish to choose from. I got the trigger fish. By far the best fish sandwich I’ve ever had! Good stuff. Definitely go while in town!

Had to drop down a star on food. It was still good, but we have been getting takeout for the last 3 years and decided to dine in. Love the local atmosphere and great music, but the food quality has taken a dip. It was not like any of the takeout orders we have enjoyed. Please know it was still good and we enjoyed our time. It just wasn't as good as it has been.

really cute spot by the water, we ordered the seafood boil for two and it was plenty for the three of us. the crab was really the highlight! we were looking for a typical seafood boil place and i think we found it! the server was really sweet and present event tho it tends to be busy. we loved it so much we went two time during our vacation!

Great food and great prices, the trio of shrimp scallops and crab cake was a seafood spectacular to behold. Tuna bites were also delicious cooked medium rare with hot sauce!

This place is amazing. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we got alot of food. We got fried oysters, crab legs, raw clams and the chowder. The chowder look watery and disappointing in it looks but the taste made up for it. It was rich and flavorful. All the food was amazing and the best place we ate at obx. Staff were super attentive and kind. Highly recommend going here if you near by.

Steamers done to perfection. The oysters and horseradish fortified cocktail sauce was the best. The pan seared scallops were tender and lightly seasoned. The young lady was fast and efficient.

Great little seafood shack with decent food at decent prices. Our family of 5 split 2 orders of Three From The Sea platters so we could try a little bit of everything. We loved it all. Service was fast and great. We were glad they had some outside seating available. The inside is small and more of a bar type atmosphere. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed the views. My only complaint was that they did not have a kids menu. We ended up paying $9 for 4 chicken strips for our 4yr old. That was a bummer. Other than that I would definitely recommend.

Very cool little spot. The bartender was super chill and informative. Their was a nice group of regulars that hooked me up with some leads. I was recommended to drop in for some fresh seafood and I’m glad we did. The Cajun crawldads were definitely tasty, the grilled scallops were delicious and prepared perfectly. We even went for some NC BBQ🤤You should treat yourself and stop in. From the outside your probably think oh great another dive bar but you gotta really give em a shot. What else you gonna do on that island during Covid!? Check’em out!

We visited this place on 09/19/2022 for lunch. This is definitely a go to spot. Front parking is usually full, but there is parking behind the restaurant. Upon entering, the place was clean and we able to pick where we wanted to sit based on available seating. This place isn’t very big, but it is exactly what we like. Far from the touristy vibe, this place felt like somewhere you would frequent if you lived here. I had the fried oysters and Buttercup had the fried catfish sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. We would recommend this place and definitely will be back!

I’ve only been there once but plan to go back! The dining room and bar were almost full while one waitress worked but she handled it well. I ordered crab cake nuggets and a three from the sea with oysters, shrimp and scallops. Everything was very tasty!

The staff at Pops were friendly welcoming and attentive. The whole place felt like a comfortable hometown place where everyone is welcome. The food was good and the drinks were strong. Hope to be back again.

I visited Pop's Raw Bar with my husband during my outer banks vacation. We went on a Saturday afternoon. They served us ice cold oysters and ice cold beer. I really liked the knickknacks around the bar room. I just had to wait over an hour between when I ordered, so I can only give it a 4/5.
