My wife and I just left the motel today after spending a few days there. The staff are super friendly and amazing. Everything was explained extremely well during the check in process. The room was very neat and clean, the ease of navigating the area and finding our room was so easy. Each time we visit the OBX we stay here and we will definitely be a return customer.Rooms: The room we stayed in was super nice and clean, it had a warm cozy feeling and felt like a home when we walked in.Nearby activities: Connors is directly across the street so you can walk to the store for groceries and drinks or whatever you need.Walkability: We stayed upstairs so we had to go up and down the stairs when we left and came back. However it was well worth it.Noteworthy details: There's a very nice sitting area upstairs, there's a table and chairs so you can sit outside and have a smoke since there's no smoking in the room. Me nor the wife smoke but it's still nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Super convenient to the Point, restaurants and grocery stores! Rooms are always clean, beds are comfortable, showers are hot, and the beer (brought by us) is always cold in the fridge. Everything a tired fisherman could ever need after a long day of not being at work! Thank you for the awesome customer service and kindness! Been going to Cape Pine since I was young! Again, thank you! #HokieFam!!!!Nearby activities: Ramp 43, 44 (the point), Red drum tackle, restaurants, grocery, and a little shopping!

Every year we come to Hatteras Island before we rent our house we stay for a few nights with Cape Pines. The staff has become friends to us. They go above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The rooms are always super clean the pool is a great amenity and so relaxing. The motel is across from Connor supermarket, near some great restaurants, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and beautiful little shops. Love this place!!

The staff was excellent!!! Rooms were very clean and spacious. We had a king with a double which was perfect for our family. My son and husband left behind items and the staff were so nice in helping us. One item they had right away. The other they found while cleaning and actually mailed it to us!! We travel a lot and not many places would send your item. They were super super great! They even had a freezer you could leave stuff in if needed. We will stay again!

We planned on camping but with the tropical storm hitting the island we needed to adjust our plans and Cape Pines filled our needs. Check-in was easy and the staff was super nice and friendly. This is an older place but well maintained. The room was very clean and they had hardwood floors which was nice. The only negative was the Air Conditioner. It was an in-wall unit and It was a little noisy. but other than that we stayed dry and had a clean place to crash. It had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. It was right across the street from Connors so with everthing close due to the storm Connors was still open and we could grad some delicious deli sandwiches. If you are looking for a clean and convienent motel on the island this is the place.

Our family has stayed here many times. Everyone is friendly, the rooms are tidy and clean, and the clientele who stays here are always courteous. We have traveled with our dogs here as well and they have a nice dog run, gated and clean. They even have the little touches which I like- dog bags and can for deposit and brooms in the room so you can sweep up the sand that will ultimately come in with little feet. The motel is centrally located to all things fun in Hatteras so day tripping and exploring is easy to get to. Connors grocery is walkable to get to and has all the things you might have forgotten. My kids love the pool at the end of a long beach day where they can relax while we grill out. We also notice that they always improve and care about how they keep their business. The staff are just lovely and they treat us like family when we come back to see them.

Booked two nights here last minute when our camping plans got rained out! Could not have been more pleased with the change of plans. Cape Pines is a classic Hatteras motel that I’ve been curious about for years, and finally I got to stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and our room was SO comfortable and soooo clean!!! It had a wonderful old-school charm while still having necessary updated features (modern and super clean bathroom!). We especially loved how accommodating they were for dogs, having a fenced in area for them behind the motel! So convenient. We didn’t get to use the pool, but it looked delightful. I really look forward to staying here again.

So our experience was ok. I will start by saying that we had a pet friendly room since we brought our dog so I can only speak on behalf of that room.We arrived a little before 3 (which is check in time) and they said the room would not be ready until 3:15. Even though that was irritating, the lady was SO incredibly nice and showed me to the restroom they had in the back.Once we got into the room, it was very clear that someone had smoked in there. We told the same lady and she asked what we wanted her to do. I asked for some febreeze which she gave us a bottle. Unfortunately, the place smelled like smoke until the last day or two. If my kids were with me, I would have left in a heartbeat. It was very, very bad.The room was spacious but very outdated. The appliances did not work well (for example, the toaster did not toast the bread on one side) but nothing was crazy bad.The walls are paper thin. I heard a cat next door that kept me up for hours so be prepared for that.Was overall not very clean feeling. The sheets and pillows smelled like cigarettes SO badly. That is my biggest gripe as we are non smokers and the rooms are suppose to be as well.The location is great. We could walk to the market right across the street for anything we needed. 4 minute drive to the beach.The front desk was always so kind and sweet which is why I’m giving 4 stars.Will I be back? Probably not but it was not the worst place ever.

For nearly $200 a night I expect more. The room had a horrible smell with an air freshener plugged in to disguise the odor of musty rot. The whole place needs some serious TLC. The property looks like the owners cut every corner instead of putting care and concern into what kind of accommodations they provide. Decorative pillows that look like they should be in the trash - worn and stained. Bathroom had a giant roach in the bathtub along with broken tile and crazy patch jobs on the tile. I was SO disappointed. Perhaps this is a great place for a group of guys on a fishing trip - but otherwise - do yourself a favor and don’t stay here.

This was the second time we've stayed at Cape Pines Motel in the past year. So glad we found this place! The rooms are well presented and very clean. Great room amenities and very close to local attractions. The ownership team are very engaged and accomodating to guest needs, and we have never had concerns during our stays. Looking forward to returning again soon.

My husband and I stayed there for our 51st Anniversary. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. The area is beautiful and our room was spotless, quiet and so comfortable. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We recommend this place highly and hope to visit again!

They have always been so accommodating with us and our fur baby. We were there this past week and had reservations for Wed thru Sunday and with Ian coming we added Tuesday and came down a day early. The weather got really bad on Friday morning and we decided it was best to leave the island before we might not be able to get out. We turned the keys in when they were not open and left. They have always been so accommodating with any changes to our plans and I will forever recommend this motel. I just want to say thank you!

We have stayed at this motel two years in a row and will continue to do so as long as our experience staying here continues to go just as well! The owner and her staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen and I’m pretty particular about that (note that we stayed in their rooms that do not allow pets so I can’t speak for the ones that do allow animals). The beds are comfy, there’s a mini fridge, and the bathrooms are too cute with the 60s retro tile which I adore! It was quiet during our stay. The only thing that would make this place better is more hooks and towel racks to hang towels and swimsuits. We brought our own drying rack for this reason. There is no daily housekeeping so if you need fresh towels you’ll need to bring them to the front desk to ask for more which the front desk person will happily bring you.This place isn’t right on the beach, so don’t expect beach views or the ease of walking right on the beach, but it’s a 2 min drive and probably 5-10 walk or bike ride to the Hatteras shore with free, convenient parking at the beach. Connors supermarket, probably the best Mom and Pop grocery I’ve ever been to, is right across the street and has anything you need including a deli with really great sandwiches and sides for a cheap meal. Orange Blossom, Buxton Munch Co., Lalos Mexican, and The Cockeyed Clam are our favorite restaurants all within 2-5 minutes of driving from the motel so you can beat the dinner crowds.Overall we feel you just can’t beat the price, location, or convenience of this place. We love the retro, mom and pop, feel of this place and would much rather stay here than one of the larger chain motels.

She was so very accommodating after we had to leave our house during a Nor'Easter for safety purposes. She met our needs and helped us by being kind and flexible. The room was clean and spacious and perfect for my family with 4 small children. 100% would recommend this motel to anyone! I found no problems at all but rather she went above and beyond.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Close to some nice local attractions and clean!!! Really happy with the feel of the place as I am usually hesitant about staying in motels. This had a great vintage vibe but felt newer. Good water pressure in the showers, well lit, private, and spacious. Would have been happier with stronger wifi access since we were working in the morning, a larger sink in the bathroom for washing baby bottles, and if the windows sealed a little bit better. They closed and locked but there was definitely air escaping which meant we had to keep the AC running. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others!

We love it here. We have stayed at least a handful of times. We have stayed with our dogs and without. We usually try to book a suite as we like having the kitchen, and it also allows dogs. The pool is nice for the kids when you’re not at the beach, which is only around 3 minutes away. The staff working has always been kind and helpful. It’s not fancy, but has everything we need, is clean, accommodating and good location.

We have been traveling to the outer banks since the early nineties and in the last few years, have been staying in the Hatteras area as we love the ability to drive and park right on the beach.Cape Pines is a wonderful little mom and pop gem tucked right in the center of Buxton, near a local grocer and restaurants. We've always stayed in the pet friendly courtyard rooms, which are all nicely appointed with various bedding options. All have at a minimum small fridges and coffee makers and come with front and back windows and outdoor clothes lines on each room's front porch.There are grills available for cooking as well as plenty of picnic tables, spread throughout the property. The pool has beautiful landscaping around it along with plenty of lounging and seating options.Most importantly, the service is EXCEPTIONAL. We are always warmly greeted when we arrive for our " next stay" and if we are arriving late, the owner calls us to ensure our trip down is going smoothly and advises about how to obtain our keys after hours.Often times, we book the same room and as always, at a very reasonable cost. If we are fortunate enough, we see familiar visitors that have traveled and stayed there before too. So nice to be able to feel at home.Whether it's for a "pre-game" stay ahead of your week in the Hatteras area, or for a long weekend, we cannot recommend Cape Pines highly enough!!

We extended our vacation and stayed here 2 nights before our week long home rental started. Everything was perfect. Check in was simple, the room was clean, beds were comfortable, the pool was great for the kids, the ice machine and laundry area was convenient, and Connors across the street was perfect for quick snacks. Couldn’t ask for much more. We will be back again next year!

My boyfriend and I loved this quaint little stay! Our room was cozy and we enjoyed sitting outside eating our dinners from local restaurants at the many sitting areas available. Our check in and check out was a breeze and the owner was very kind. The location was perfect for us as it was close distance to the beach, light house, and a supermarket literally across the street. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool! We felt comfortable staying here during covid times and would definitely stay again.

We have stayed at Cape Pines Motel more than 4 times over the last 2 years. Often we use a 2-day stay to extend our vacation and stay 2 nights before our week long home rental begins. Everything is always perfect. Check in is simple, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and you can bring your dog! (or cat). There is laundry, and an ice machine and a grill to cook out on if you so desire. The pool is clean and super refreshing after a long day at the beach. There are plenty of places to sit outside if you want to eat outside at night, or for us, we used the large glass table to play cards after dinner. The staff is very friendly and super accommodating. They know us now that we have been there several times, and they are always so pleasant. It has a true family feel. Connors grocery is across the street and is perfect for quick snacks, and pre-made food and they have a nice beer selection. We previously used to "pre-game" our 2 days in Nags Head, but the increasing number of tourists there as well as the decreased quality of the accommodations there caused us to start booking in Hatteras closer to our week-long rentals and I am so glad we did. Cape Pines Motel is a gem and we have started booking long weekend trips here because their rates are reasonable and we love it so much. You can't ask for much more! We will be back again in a few weeks! Whoooo hooo!
