I have been looking for a dog for a while now. I looked in many shelters on line.When I came to the Transylvania County Animal rescue, I stopped and actually called. the woman that I spoke with was very friendly, took her time with me like I was the only person around. I went there the next day and upon meeting Pepper a 7 month old lab mix, she was right it was love at first sight.You could tell he was well loved and well taken care of, he loved everyone there.When I brought him home my husband and he connected right away. He is smart, already sits, stays, down. he has won us over.Thank you, Parker ( A.K.A. Pepper ) is a welcome part of this family, thank you for being so good to him and all the pets you care for.This place was clean, the people who worked there were attentive, kind and only wanted what was best for each and every animal there.

These guys really cared about the animals.They allowed us time to visit with the dogs until we were ready to get to know them a little better the staff gave us a rundown on the dog's history as they knew it from time the dog was at the shelter.The staff was great to work with and the animals were well cared for. As we were getting ready to take our puppy home the staff member pointed out that our pup came into the shelter a little under Fed and they had been feeding him a little more and we might want to continue doing so until the pup had pick up some weight

Great staff! There is always a pup or cat that needs a home. We found a neat dog who was abandon. People are cruel. It's worth a chance to adopt an animal - it can change your life.

I moved to the area to work at a job out of town. It’s been an ordeal moving here. I had to move 3 times in 3 months. My cat, Yuki, and I were very stressed. Finally, we found a home in Brevard were my landlord promised Yuki could go outside safely. I waited 2 months and then slowly worked up to allowing him out by himself. I watched him on my security cameras.I was then informed by my neighbors there is a no outdoor cat policy in the neighborhood. I was not informed prior by the landlord nor is it my lease. I had made it clear I wanted Yuki to have a safe place to go outside … basically she lied to me.Yuki disappeared soon after.I have been going weekly to Transylvania Animal Shelter. Being that I am here working out of town I have no friends or family here. I don’t have anyone to turn to. And the neighbors … well you guessed it … couldn’t care less.Laura was so supportive and the only person who really cared. The staff is so friendly. The animals here are loved very much.I haven’t found Yuki yet It means so much these guys are watching for him and have supported me in looking for my little love.

The entire staff needs to be replaced with competent people. The only word accurately describing the state of this place is chaos. There were six employees in the reception area chatting away when we got there but, somehow, none of them cared enough to pick up the ringing phone. We had to wait until they finished their conversation before the receptionist (clearly annoyed by the interruption) even looked at us. Only a government institution can continue to operate this way. Congrats on keeping the stereotype alive and well.

I have been searching for a family dog for the past month. This shelter volunteers and staff were great. I contacted them via Petfinder on a weekend night and received an almost instant response with help. By Tuesday morning the adoption process began and let me just say it's been wonderful. When I was applying Paul the Shelter Manager was giving me tips on how to handle the specific dog I was adopting. He also said don't hesitate to call if we needed further help or had any questions. By far from my experience with more known facilities this shelter is a diamond in the 'ruff'. It was well worth my drive down from the Asheville area to adopt our new family member from this loving and helpful staff and volunteers. I cannot say enough about TCAS.

Employees were not friendly. As soon as I walked in, the place smelled which leads me to believe it's not clean. The dog I was looking at was having a hard time at the shelter. Their solution was to keep the poor dog at the shelter. I actually feel sorry for all the animals in this shelter. I'm not convinced the employees have the animals interests at heart.

Compassionate staff. Clean facility. Doing their best to care for and re-home pets, provide rabies vaccinations, and in my case on this day: compassionate euthanasia of my sweet dog suffering from cancer. Very caring staff.

I got a beautiful husky mix, when I adopted him they gave me his papers saying he had all of his up to date shots. After 40 days of having him he got terribly sick, I took him to the emergency vet in Hendersonville. I thought that it might of been Parvo but they told me it was impossible because he had his “Parvo shot” from the shelter. Two days later my puppy died from Parvo and I called trying to get help with my expensive vet bill. Because I had no idea I was taking home a going to be dead puppy. They told me that it was MY FAULT and that I should’ve watched him more carefully.

These people do amazing work. Their skill is only exceeded by their hearts. You can tell how well the animals are treated by how sweet and healthy the ones up for adoption are. They do all this with very limited resources. Impressive

Broke my heart to see all the fur babies waiting to find their forever homes in kennels and cages. The staff was available to answer any questions and was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Always closed when needed. This area has a LOT of barking dogs, and it always seems that it is difficult to get officers out here to ticket owners, or impound animals.
