I took a ride based on a recommendation to Laydens. I only wanted to inquire about their briskets. I got way MORE than I bargained for. You have to love the rich history of its location. From the house it's situated in to the vast farmland surrounding it. The entire staff from the butchers to the young lady at the checkout were very helpful, eager even. The selection of their hand processed meats is overwhelming. With unique flavors in their sausage. To the giant wall of cured ham that they will cut for you however much you would like. I did get myself a brisket and I spent 15 hours making the best brisket I could have ever hoped for. So go visit this place. You'll meet the local folks getting their own needed supplies while you're there. And enjoy the rural scenic ride while on the way.

Good old fashioned country store. Good selection of meats, including chicken, pork (sausage, ham, bacon, ) , rabbit, duck etc. Also, frozen vegetables. You won't believe the selection of old fashioned hard candy as well as a largevariety of peanut brittle and chocolate covered nuts.

I had heard about the meat specials they have so I made the drive to Belvidere to try it out. WOW! What a pleasant surprise! They were so friendly and eager to help. Loaded the 35 lbs of meat into my car and told me to have a blessed day. It was well worth the 40 minute drive and they will be seeing me in a few month when I need to replenish the freezer.

I love this old country store with its smoked meats and small game and old fashioned candies. It reminds me of my childhood and my grand parents smokehouse. And I was able to score pork belly and this hog head on my last trip here. Hog head tacos will be upcoming.. P.S. the gas price was cheaper than in Elizabeth City, which was surprising.

We stopped in for the first time Sat.We tried one of the July specials. Very pleased! Thought the quality of meat was great and the price very reasonable. We will definitely be back and am planning on becoming a regular.Service at meat counter was outstanding. Gentleman who assisted me was courteous and patient as he answered my questions.

Had the best time yesterday. Looking for authentic country sausage links and found them here. Great prices for EVERYTHING IN STORE. Butcher shop had a HUGE SELECTION of meats at great prices compared to grocery stores. Country atmosphere great people. Will definitely drive the hour to go there again.

First time to the market, bought a couple of steaks, some sausage, hamburger, and chicken. Have had the steaks and sausage, absolutely great! We will be back. Oh and one cantaloupe and so juicy and sweet. Oh and the people, nice as can be from walking in to walking out, great place!

This is a fun place to stop. It is a small country grocery store. They are unique in the fact they have their butchers deli. We get some meats and cheeses when we go. The smell of salted ham just permeates as soon as you walk in. I do enjoy that. My kids love to get thr old fashion candy.

Laydens butcher shop is a real gem! Fresh cut steaks ribs chops chicken and omg the ground chuck and sausage is out of this world! Nobody does meat like this anymore!!! Local fresh the staff go out of their way to be helpful and the country store is a step back in time. If you are in the area, this place is totally worth visiting! You're welcome!!! 😀

Best meats available. The monthly packages are reasonable & great variety. We purchase all our meats here. The steaks, ground chuck, hot sausage, & homemade cheddar are our favorites. Staff is friendly & store just takes you back in time. Love it!

This place is wonderful. I really enjoy the quality of of their meats. The first time I had a steak from here I thought wow this is what it tasted like when I was a kid. Everyone is very friendly, the butcher's are knowledgeable, and I enjoy dropping by to do a little bit of shopping on the weekend. Highly recommend to anybody.
