I read the previous review, and felt compelled to write one of my own. I've shopped at Loaves and Fishes many times. I've found a myriad of treasures to take home and bring back to their best condition... I love tinkering, repairing old things... and frankly... this store is a tinkerer's treasure chest. It's not a Wall Street store, it's a community mission. not for profit facility that sells what it sells to cover the costs of services provided to those in need. As they say on their own website, "Loaves and Fishes of Beaufort strives to serve the needs of our community in the best and most effective way possible while bringing Glory to our God. We envision more churches, organizations and individuals joining us in the cause of helping others in Jesus´ name. Our goal is to minister to the whole person, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually." Loaves and fishes provided a program called, Backpack Blessings for children with real needs in the local schools. Loaves and Fishes is the support behind the Harker's Island Food Pantry. The Food Bank of Central & Eastern N.C. provides a “mobile pantry” at the Harkers Island Fire Department at 1219 Island Rd. The pantry is held on the last Thursday of each month at 1pm. Food items include fresh vegetables, non-perishables and many other items depending on availability. and the L&F food pantry right there at 1700 Live Oak Rd. I've seen the families that have received help... and trust me... they are appreciative. Loaves and Fishes provides a residential treatment program that is a Christ-centered program for men struggling with substance abuse, and what they are doing IS working.I've seen some of the success storied. Outpatient counseling is also available for men and women struggling with substance abuse. So, no, it's not the fanciest store around... but for one who is willing to actually look the treasures abound. Not only with the things that one can buy and restore... but to me just as important, are the lives that they help restore. I am quite certain that I will visit that amazing store, many times more. So I travel all over north carolina to random thrift stores and consignment shops To leave reviews and to see how The customer service is. So today was the 1st day of me going to loaves & fishes Thrift shop and I must say I am not impressed at all. They have a very large building that has a very terrible foul odor when you walk in. Their items are not even worth looking at and the nicer items are way Overpriced. Some of the items are not even priced. Their customer service really does suck. Can't really get anybody to help you due to the lack of employees. I must say out of all my reviews on thrift stores and consignment shops. This thrift store is by far the worst I've been in. And I get paid to walk into these thrift stores and to leave reviews. I don't think this Thrift store is going to be open much longer. If I was you, I would not waste my time.

Love the clothing side. Always able to find jeans for work. Nice selection of jewelry too. I love the Christian music that plays it’s very soothing to a troubled soul. Thank you for what you are doing to help recovering addicts in our community. Everyone deserves forgiveness and a second chance, if they truly want to turn their lives over to God. God can and will do for you, what you can not do for yourself, if He is sought. May you find Him now. Sincerely a recovering alcoholic.

I arrived at this location by a roundabout way. I am glad I found them. It was shortly after the passing of Hurricane Florence. I had headed out to drop off some food, blankets and sheets to a local location set up for such things. When I got there I found out that they were only taking food, not the blankets and sheets until four days later!I pushed on to Beaufort to three other locations - all of them were closed. I stopped at a local relief office and they sent me to Loaves and Fishes. Then I learned about all the wonderful work they do there - disaster relief, food, clothing, drug counseling, faith work - just a wonderful place to be. We dropped off our donation with these excellent, loving and strong people at this great shop! Thanks for all the hard work, folks. Whether you are looking for something reasonable and of quality to buy or would like to donate something - then this is the place to go.

A fun place to go and check out, and kind of a community endeavor. In addition to the usual, they've made themselves available to those that really need help, for they have a little bit of everything, including some very nice things donated by many from their church family and the community. Very friendly and helpful. If you have items to donate, they would be put to good use here!

I like this store but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but we don't buy anything made in China! All military people we know have decided not to buy anything made in china and that goes for many Christian as well. In today's world it's hard not to find anything not made in china but it's not Impossible! Stand behind your Country first.

My dad got me a living room suit (couch, chair, loveseat) from there for my apartment we couldn't pick up that same day so we paid for it and went back the next day to pick it up there was a sign on the door that said "Closed due to Positive Covid Test" no further info and couldn't contact anyone for more information and we were just there the day before we didn't know if it was a employee/volunteer or what so we quarantined ourselves for 14days just in case well last week a guy from there called me asking if I would like to pick up the couch (only 1 week after positive covid test which he said they weren't open for business just allowing people to pick up the items on hold which didn't make any sense to me having people going in and out after only 1 week of positive covid test when I'm pretty sure its atleast 14 days you're suppose to quarantine ) I explained to him that we were no longer comfortable picking up the living room suit due to Positive Covid Test an if I could be refunded he said he didn't see why not but he would have to check with the owner (he was very polite an understanding) he said he would call me back and let me know well I never heard from no one again until today the owner called asking me if I was coming to get the furniture my dad had already paid for I explained to him that my dad an I weren't comfortable after positive test etc. Could I get a refund he told me "NO there are no refunds it didn't matter about the covid positive test there are no exceptions" he was very rude an unprofessional. Loaves and Fishes should of gave the public more information instead of just a sign on the door about the the Covid19 positive text as there are many people in and out daily an if it was an volunteer/employee no telling how many people he/she came in contact with an if he/she was even the slightest bit sick why didn't said person stay home? This isn't my first time I've witnessed their lack of professionalism first hand about 6mos ago I purchased a sectional also came back the next day to pick up and they claimed it should of never been sold to me (after already paying for it and being excited for it as I desperately needed a new couch) because an employee/volunteer already claimed it so that day i left with no sectional but they did give me a refund so I guess they just started this no refund policy I do not recommend this thrift store as there're are plenty more that are professional and value their customers I won't be returning!UPDATE: AFTER POSTING THIS REVIEW THEY COMMENTED ON IT THAT I HAD NOT TALKED TO THE STORE MANAGER/OWNER WHEN I ORIGINALLY CALLED AN ASKED FOR A REFUND (I know what he said exactly "I'm the Owner we don't do refunds especially when a military or any other discount is given")AND GAVE ME A NUMBER TO CONTACT THEM ON SO I CALLED AN THEY ISSUED THE REFUND BUT I SHOULDN'T OF HAD TO POST A NEGATIVE REVIEW IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DO SO ESPECIALLY UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES AT THAT TIME JUST USE CAUTION WHEN BUYING FROM THIS STORE MORE SO WITH PRICIER ITEMS.

The workers were very friendly, working hard to keep the shelves stocked. Unfortunately, the quality on this particular day was lacking. Like all thrift stores, it's a hunt. No two days are the same.
