Hard to move around in you baically have to lift your cart to change aisle and you cannot fit two shopping cart in the same aisle. I would prefer to have the store with less variety and be able to walk down an aisle with a shopping cart with out feeling you are going to squish the person in that aisle when you walk past them.

This store is Terrible, they are a joke! Closed at 9:15pm today Friday 8/25! Excuse they have inventory in the aisles!! What kind of an excuse is that! And last week they were closed 3-4 days.

Recently renovated the interior of the store and can I just say it is outstanding! The aisles are wider and although the square footage is the same, the store appears much larger. The staff is friendly and were obviously happy to have this new space to work.We spoke with the manager, Eddie, and gave him our compliments as well. Check them out - you can’t beat their prices.

Just moved to BE and have been to the Dollar General almost every day. They are so convenient and the selection is astonishing, I don't know how they fit so much in there. It is always neat and the staff is constantly busy stocking and straightening shelves, but they always speak to the customers and are very helpful and friendly. I always find what I came for and then some. Great place to shop! Thanks for all the help, Joe!

Nice clean store, well stocked and plenty of food, general merchandise and food options. They offered quite a few little options including playing cards and toiletries and cleaning supplies. Highly recommend this location if you are needing just a few things from the store. If you are going grocery shopping, head to the Food Lion!

We go to dollar general all the time back in Florida but this store caught our eye , simply because of the way it was organized everything is in order. This store is immaculate compared to other dollar general stores. We saw merchandise that's not available in other stores . There dollar section is huge by comparison to other stores. We really liked this store wish it was closer to home .

Good prices and friendly staff. The only negative is that they did not have a garbage can outside the front entrance or even inside the front entrance. I believe all public places should have garbage cans for customers to put trash in. I picked up several items of litter in their parking lot and was frustrated that I had to put those in my car rather than a trash can that they would have available and easily identifiable on site

Our hometown GOD SEND. We are so fortunate to have this store strategically located in town. Since our grocery store is a few miles away, it is great to have The Dollar General near by. A friendly and helpful staff. A fun outing too!

Kinda like a mini Wal-Mart you may not find everything you want but you will find everything you need. The staff are super nice and very helpful. It is small and crowed with every row names pack full of stuff at super cheap prices. If you don't feel like going to Boone, try this place first.

The store is very nice but you can’t shop for the boxes and carts in the isles. I wish the manager of the store would address the issue. Maybe if they only brought out one or two carts at a time and worked them shopping wouldn’t be so bad. I am shopping elsewhere ☹️!!!

Now that the store has been running a while their shelves are fairly stable and their cash register seem to operate okay. Some people were wearing their masks and most people weren't as if nothing was happening.

I am an assistant store manager at Dollar General I'm training to be the store manager this company is amazing they treat their employees fairly we try to carry all assortments of objects in Banner Elk we are like a small Walmart because we have a little bit of everything and there's a lot of people who comes in here so that way they don't have to go to Food Lion or Lowes Foods our prices are really really great and we have nothing that can match to it but you should stop by for yourself and experience the fun and the awesomeness of the sore

Service is okay. Could be better but there are probably legitimate reasons why their staff are seemingly not excited to be there. I'm guessing the pay and being understaffed. DG is good for things you only want to pay a dollar for, i.e. ~ reading glasses, hair bands, cheap name brand snacks, i.e. ~ Lance Crackers, Moonpies, etc.

Thos Dollar General is clean and has a good selection. Given the limited number of stores in Banner Elk, it is the best place to go for your general merchandise needs.

Go to the bathroom before you go! On vacation & have been to 2 locations: one on the 19E Bypass, Spruce Pine, NC (Mitchell County); the other in Banner Elk, NC (Avery County). At BOTH locations BOTH restrooms were "out of order". (Seriously???) I had a stroke several years ago that left me incontinent. When I have to go, I HAVE TO GO! 😬 (One location did have a port-a-potty outside.) Have to wonder if they're really out of order or if employees just don't want to have to clean "public" restrooms? 🤔 Other than that, I ❤ Dollar General when travelling! What better place to pick up that wayward item that failed to get packed along?!

Hey folks. This was clean neat friendly. If you need essentials don't drive all the way to Wal Mart. Grab it and go from here. Convenient great location

The Banner Elk store used to be lovely but know they have merchandise stacked everywhere and some aisles you can't even get down.

Descent little store for convenience purposes. I really don't like Dollar General that much because it's not cheap really, but, there aren't many stores like this in this town so we have to have one for that purpose. I am glad it's there for that reason.
