What a fun visit to Apple Hill Farm! The property is so beautiful. We took a guided tour with Eric and he did an amazing job telling us about the farm and the animals there. We met donkeys, alpacas, llamas, goats, etc. After our tour we were invited to visit the gift shop where they had all colors of alpaca yarn(?) for sale, among many other items. I purchased an alpaca wool(?) blanket and it’s my new favorite. Can’t wait to visit again!

My wife and I went here as one of the activities on our honeymoon and without a doubt it is our favorite part about having come here to Banner Elk. We got to see the pigs and the llamas and the alpacas. Karen, our tour guide told us all the differences between all the animals, how many they have, the story of the farm and the founder. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to slow down and enjoy fun animals and a great view. Ms Karen did a fantastic job! Also shout out to Aspen for letting us pet him!

Our family had a fantastic time! Everything was well organized. We were directed to where to park and instructed to go to the check-in station. We were asked to wear name badges, which came in handy for our lovely tour guide, Karen. She gave us an introduction and laid out the ground rules. She was very friendly, patient (since there were three little ones on the tour), and very knowledgeable (she gave us the history of the farm, names of the animals, recent farm events, etc.). We saw tons of animals, including donkeys, llamas, and alpacas, and got to feed the Angora goats. We spent ample time with each group of animals, which included time for taking pictures. Once again, Karen did a great job during the tour, especially with letting us know what to look out for as we moved from one spot to another (such as electric fencing)—our time ended at their shop, where our family bought honey, alpaca gloves, and alpaca socks. We recommend you bring some cash or a card for a souvenir. Thank you, Apple Hill Farm! We loved our time there!

This was so wonderful. You have to visit this farm. The tour was fun. It was interactive, especially for the kids. The history and layout are very calming. Our tour guide, Tyler, was a young dude but knew the answer to any question regarding the animals. He was great. The shop is nice, there are lots of cool gift ideas , the honey is amazing, it was overall just a great experience and I'm glad we did it.

I visited the farm with my two teenage daughters and we had an amazing time. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable about the farm and all of the animals. Our favorite part was feeding a snack to the goats. But the alpacas are also very cute to watch as they were out sun bathing. This farm is a very special place and I’m grateful that they have chosen to share it with the public on these tours, you won’t be disappointed. My daughters are already asking to come back again. After the tour you can purchase items made right there on the farm from the goats and alpacas. We got mini alpacas to remember our trip and you can even buy little hats for them!

We had the best time on our tour! My 2 year old loved seeing all of the animals, especially feeding the goats. Our tour guide was pleasant and very knowledgeable. The farm is also nestled among beautiful, spacious Appalachian hills, which made for an amazing view! This was a really nice family outdoor activity with the uniqueness of learning about a functioning alpaca fiber farm. Highly recommend a visit!

This place was super cool! Worth the windy drive up the mountain. The staff was friendly and helpful and you can tell they love their job and love the animals. It was neat learning about all of the different animals. Cute gift shop, too. My youngest got a little stuffed Alpaca, which she named after one of the Alpacas. Make sure you book in advance.

At Unwind 2024, I had planned to hike the trails at Moses Cone, but it was drizzling and cold and a participant said she was signed up for your tour, so I quickly signed up online and joined! We were in the group that arrived a bit late due to our navigator taking us a weird and winding way through the mountains. The tour was fantastic and the lunch in town was superb! I am enjoying reading your book. What a charmed and courageous life! Thank you for sharing it with us. Janis, Unwind 2024

what a lovely place. They alpacas are beautiful. if you're fortunate enough, you can get tickets for the first Saturday of June and participate in watching the alpacas get sheared. The farm also gives tours. They sell fresh eggs. The gift shop is wonderful. You can get a lot of things made from alpaca fur. This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm m in the area.

If you’re on the fence about booking this tour, jump off and book it! This is a wonderful property and great people working there. The tour was wonderful. We walked around the property (I suggest not wearing your best shoes, as there were puddles/mud when we went; however much of the walk is on a gravel path). We got to see donkeys, alpaca, llama, pot-bellied pigs, a hive of 80,000 bees (yes! They sell their own honey in their gift shop!), guardian Great Pyrenees (you’ll learn what they do), sheep (there were babies!), horses, a cows (including the endangered Randall Lineback) and the sweetest pups. Brody walked with us for part of the tour (lab/basset mix who was wonderful).None of the animals on the farm are used for anything other than when the alpaca are shorn. They are loved members of the family and we loved this so much! The prices in the gift shop are also great, considering this is a local, family-owned business who have to pay to operate a farm. The honey is GREAT! Go book your tour - you won’t regret it!

We had a BLAST on our tour! Abby was a fantastic and informative guide. The animals were absolutely adorable. You don’t get to pet most of them but you do get to feed treats to the goats and cows. Plus there are 3 very friendly dogs on-site before and after the tour to hang with. Their gift shop has a ton of nice things to buy as well - even farm fresh eggs. Definitely worth stopping in and booking a tour.

Great little farm with Alpacas, Donkey's, Llama's, Goats, Horses, a couple pigs and a couple mini Brahama cows. We were able to feed the goats and the cows. Our guide was so knowledgeable about all the animals and a lot of stories about the history of the farm. The groups are small so you're able to ask lots of questions and interact with everyone. We will definitely go back in the fall when she said the animals are out more and they're a lot more active when the weather gets cooler.

Our family had so much fun at Apple Hill Farm! It was so neat to learn about all the animals and how some of them had specific jobs to protect the others. We even got to see the sweetest little brand-new baby goats! The kids loved learning about how a working farm runs and also enjoyed feeing the animals. It was a fun little stop for the whole family.
