Four of us dined here on a Tuesday evening. We got a table outside and were seated in about 5 minutes (they don't take reservations). We ordered drinks from the bar while we waited and the bartender was great. The service was very attentive and multiple servers helped us throughout the meal (great teamwork). The atmosphere is great with nice views of the water from most everywhere. The bathrooms were super clean and modern. The food was very good. The mussels we had as an appetizer were very fresh, cooked perfectly and had a very nice broth with them. For dinner we had braised pork (a touch heavy on the cumin), grain bowl (loved the coconut rice), fish sandwich (tile fish, fried perfectly) and best of all the crab cakes. I don't like crab cakes very much and I can tell you these were some really good crab cakes!! We will be back again for sure! Also, don't forget to buy the kitchen staff a round of drinks (only 10 bucks)!

Exceptional food, menu, cocktails and service! Freshest meal we’ve ever had on Cape Hatteras. Catch of the day was Red Drum. Three of us had the coconut fish which was cooked to perfection, not overly breaded, with delicious flavoring served on a big bed of fresh, nicely steamed vegetables and a just-right spicy Thai sauce. I had the refreshing lavender bee’s knees cocktail made with Barr Hill gin, a craft distillery near our hometown in Vermont. So good! Will definitely become regulars here!

Overly impressed with this place. Food was superb, staff was super friendly and attentive. Shrimp toast had wonderful flavor, though very messy to eat. Fresh red drum with coconut curry broth was delicious, as well and the tuna with coconut rice. Drinks were also quite good as well as the chocolate mousse! Bit higher pricing but 100% worth every penny. Hoping to get back before we head up north again.

Just loved this place. Went on a Monday evening, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We sat outside and enjoyed the view of the sunset while eating. The food itself was exceptionally good. Hold on, I think I understated that, let me try again: the food itself was EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD!I had the Shrimp N' Grits and my wife had the Fish N' Chips...but let me tell you, dear reader, these were not your normal run-of-the-mill fish and chips. No sir. No ma'am. It was mahi encrusted in fried potato chips with a delicious salt and vinegar flavor. I just want you to try it now. The shrimp and grits was worthy of its own online praise, but I feel like you guys won't believe me if I gush over both meals (which my wife and I shared).I bought a round for the kitchen staff due to my heart and stomach being so satisfied.

Stopped here for dinner 2 times during our visit, and it did not disappoint. After eating here the first night we arrived to the Outer Banks then trying many other restaurants up and down the many towns, Po House for us was most definitely the best tasting and most curated food we could find. The chef totally kills it! First dining experience we had the Shrimp and “Grits” and they were the best out of 4 places we tried. Also had the Mojo Fish and Chips (fish was Black Drum when we had it) and it was awesome. Our second time back we tired the Po-Boy sandwich and the Pan Roasted Catch (fresh caught Mahi). Both were excellent again, and the roast potato salad was epic. Cocktails were on point, Key Lime Tart was awesome, and we could not ask for better service. Po House is definitely worth the visit for the amazing food and great vibes! I throw a 10/10, stoked about this place, cheers!

We went in this past evening to celebrate my birthday, but this is an annual visit in late August for our group of six! Per the usual, our dishes were fresh and exceptionally plated, the libations on point, and our server was attentive to our needs! Our group always ends up getting the same few menu choices by unintentionally, but the hits at our table were the burrata and mussel appetizers, the seafood bisque, everything tuna, and the blackened grouper ‘catch of the day’. Loved the vinegar based potato salad on our entree!

The entire experience was great, friendly and prompt service and fresh food. They don't have a freezer and all food is fresh (no more than 3 days old). I started out with the seafood bisque which I would highly recommend and was my favorite part of the meal. The fish was fresh catch and was cooked in a potato chip crust and was phenomenol. Everything was fresh and tasted great! The crab cakes were also excellent! If you're passing by Avon or staying this is definitely one to put on the list. Just keep in mind they are closed weekends and open at 5pm everyday. Give them a try!

What a great find! We were referred here by a local lady that said we should go if we were looking for something different and a little more unique. First, we were blown away by the view! It's gorgeous especially around sunset! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and told there would be a little bit of a wait but we quickly got drinks at the bar. The watermelon margarita was super fresh and not overly sweet which was perfect! For dinner, we each got a bowl of crab bisque and it was phenomenal! No crackers were needed! For the entree, we got the fish and chips. Yum! The fish was baked and topped with salt & vinegar potato chips. What a different approach! I like that it wasn't fried but still had a nice crunch and was so full flavor. We can't wait to go back!

We were looking for some place to eat on the water and this fit the bill! Beautiful outdoor deck with waterfront views of the bay, partial sunset view. The food and drinks were delicious - we had one of the frozen drink specials made with guava, guanabana, lime and white rum. I had the local catch of the day fish and chips which was not your usual fish and chips - this was spotted trout baked and covered in salt and vinegar chip pieces with smashed crunchy potatoes. More upscale versions using local seafood of classic favorites. Our waiter was excellent.

Beautiful view, extremely kind and friendly staff, clean restrooms. Indoor and outside dining on the water.Ordered the drink special, strong and delicious.The “everything” Ahi Tuna, so fresh. Highly recommend.The beef short ribs were savory, filling and just plain out of this world.The potato smashers were perfectly cooked and the sauce paired was so creamy.Parking: Plenty of parking.

Yummy food and good service! We had the Buratta app, gazpacho, braised pork and fish and chips. Everything was delish! I love their take on the fish and chips- encrusted in salt and vinegar chips (drooool) and the smashed potatoes are *chefs kiss*. Big portions. Our server was great- wish I could remember his name but I do remember him saying he was from Vermont. I was dying for the Painkiller (my fave island cocktail) but I’m 5 months pregnant… so he suggested the mock tail version and it was SO good. Def hit the spot. Opt to sit on the deck if you get the chance (and wear bug spray!) . It might be hot but the view is worth it! It’s loud inside also for anyone who has trouble hearing / conversing in loud places.

Nice dining spot in Avon, we were staying up in Rodanthe and the options were slim. On our trip we ate at quite a few local places many of whom seemed to largely serve frozen and fried fish. This place was a welcome exception, everything was beautifully prepared and very fresh. Crab cakes were excellent as were the potato smashers. On the back deck you have a nice view of the sunset and water and are fairly sheltered from the predominant winds. Inside was quite noisy though. It's not huge so there may be a decent wait... Easily the best meal we had in our week on the outer banks.

Holy cow! This place is amazing. First, they offered us an eggplant appetizer which the chef created based on some fresh produce they got in. It was fantastic. The sauces that they made with it were really good. I ordered the braised pork and the portion was much larger than I expected. It was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the shrimp pasta which she really liked as well.The overall experience was great too. The staff was very attentive and on top of our empty drinks. I'd say my only complaint is that the restaurant was very loud. I had a hard time hearing my wife who was directly across from me. I think the room could use something to dampen the sound. Other than that I think this place is great. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in the OBX and will be recommending to all of our friends. Thanks for a great evening.

Can't speak highly enough of this family owned restaurant. First, the location on the bay was perfect for a sunset dinner. The location was then topped by the personal service. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. Even if the these weren't enough, the food was top of the line. Crab cakes were off the chart. Even the simple dish of hummus was perfect. I am sending my brother and sister in law there tomorrow. Worth a stop every time.

After reading all the glowing reviews we decided to try it out. Monday night and the parking lot was full. Hour wait which didn't take that long and we spent some of the time at the bar. Well worth the wait since the reviews do not do this place justice.We had the seafood bisque and hummus, which was a basil hummus. After reading about how amazing the bisque was, it was even better. Nothing overwhelmed another flavor, just pieces of seafood in a perfect broth. The hummus was fresh and flavorful with cucumber, celery, carrots and some perfect flour tortilla chips. I had the Fish Sammy for dinner,, which was spade fish today. The cornmeal coating was crisp, the fish was vey good(I'd not had that fish beforel. Cole slaw, remoulade, tomato-all went together perfectly. A little messy, but that is part of the meal. My wife had the flounder with summer veggies and potato salad. She loved it too.And the view was great too!Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp.

We went here multiple times during our visit. The food was always good, the views from the deck are amazing. We saw otters swimming, fish jumping out of the water and birds flying all around, plus gorgeous sunsets. On our second visit our waitress remembered everything about us and she was just as friendly as professional as our first time.

We read a prior review about Po House and decided to try it out. Wow! We were SO impressed with this restaurant! We got the fish and chips, which I HIGHLY recommend and the special, which was sea bass! Both were amazing! Our waiter, Bowen (I think I got that right) was wonderful! The owner even checked in to see if we enjoyed our meal. The drink, in the pic, was absolutely delicious!If you are near or in Avon, NC, you really should check this restaurant out! You won’t be disappointed!

Delicious dinner! Everything we had was great, from the drinks to the appetizer and entrees. The mahi mahi was so flavorful and some of the best fish I've ever had! We love that the food is all fresh and never frozen - they don't even have a freezer here. There was a short wait, but it was well worth it! I'd definitely recommend this place, and we would love to visit again when we're back in the area.

We ate there this evening (group of 6). Upon arrival, it was clear they were busy and they were upfront and shared it could be a long wait. 2 of us "volunteered" to wait at the bar and have a tasty libation, the daily special, a watermelon margarita. In an impressive 20 minutes, our table was ready!We had tasty apps of the tuna bites and seafood bisque before our entrees arrived. Everything was hot and well presented. The smashed potatoes were a table favorite with all the meals. If we didn't dive in so quickly, I would have had pictures.The staff was present and attentive. The owner stopped by and checked on our table as well. The view can't be beat. We will be back!

Great service, food was solid, prices were mid range. Decent beer selection from wicked weed, and founders. Mixed drinks were expensive and a bit weak. Had a oyster Po boy, lobster bisque, crab cake appetizers and the potato smashers. Po boys were heavy on the pickled vegetables and it drowned out the oysters. Good cornmeal crust on the oysters, remoulade was fine. Would try it again

Really wonderful little place for drinks and food after a day at the beach. The sunset was spectacular! The puppy is so cute and sweet! Loved our time here!
