It was our last night of vacation and it was their first night open for the season. We were completely blown away with everything we ordered. We started with the grouper bites which came out hot flaky and absolutely delicious, in a light fried batter. Then came the Roma salad, and my bf, who never compliments a salad, was so impressed that he now wants me to try and recreate it back home! The crab bisque was next up and we never had anything better, the texture was just as perfect as the flavor. So scrumptious I’ll be craving it for weeks to come. Lastly, we had the seared tuna and felt as spoiled as royalty by that point. Seared to perfection with fresh broccolini and steamed jasmine rice. They even put their own twist on a soy dipping sauce. Incredible all around. We also ordered desert to go, the Kaluha tiramisu. If you want to feel like you’re on cloud 9, get the tiramisu. Service was great. The atmosphere was really cool. We will come back someday. Thank you for making our last night an amazing one.

Everything was perfect! Great food, fresh! Plenty of care taken into the preparation and presentation, something for everyone on the menu.Grounds are beautiful while you wait and shares parking with Avon Pier for a nice before or after meal stroll. Highly recommend!

This is me and my wife's favorite place to eat in all of Avon. We always make it a point to eat here once during our visit. Although for the last couple of years we were there twice. Every meal is delicious and looks amazing. The food is so fresh and always cooked perfectly. The service is always great and every worker is always very friendly. When you're in Avon, if you only stop at one restaurant, it should be Pangea Tavern.

This is an awesome, dog-friendly restaurant. The Mahi tacos were very tasty, and I loved the proportions. 4 filets for 4 corn tortillas, I can't express how much I appreciate that. We ordered the grouper bites by the waitresses recommendation, and they were super good. Also got the artichoke spin dip and I was a fan of that. The staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely a good place to check out.

What a fabulous dinner! We were four adults and a five year old, and they were happy to cater to both demographics - dinner early and fast for the kiddo while we savored. There’s a playground right next door for restless little ones while parents eat. Patio was perfect. Excellent martini. Paella was raved about. And I loved the fish and chips special.

Saw another review on here about the seafood platter (negative) and felt the need to help combat this, ours was a huge portion, well worth the price and our experience here was phenomenal! We got there right when they opened and they told most parties that they where full up until 8 and sat other couples at the bar we had our baby with us so they accommodated us by sitting us outside. Our server was Jimmy, and he was very energetic and attentive. Yes there was flies outside as there is in any other restaurant 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not a problem. Also our dinner was surprisingly less than 150$ and we ordered two appetizers, three entrees, a clam chowder and a beer! Can’t beat that, the location is also right next to the pier so there’s plenty to do outside while waiting on your reservation. Also the atmosphere inside the restaurant is great, the portions and food are amazing. Definitely recommend!!!

Pangea Tavern has a great atmosphere, fantastic service, and some incredible dishes. The grouper bite appetizer is great. Definitely worth getting. The Mahi tacos come as 4 delicious, seasoned, slightly blackened fillets with 4 corn tortillas and a platter of toppings.Dietary restrictions: There are vegan and gluten free options.

We enjoyed our meals overall, and Jimmy was a great server.Really appreciated all of the "art sharks" hanging from the ceiling.I would have preferred for my shrimp and grits to have had more grits, more shrimp, much less grated parm, and much fewer whole button mushrooms and red pepper slices.

First time visiting Pangaea Tavern while visiting the Outer Banks. Service was fantastic, the menu had a wide variety of choices, menu items were very creative, and a beautiful setting in Avon. Special call out to "Jimmy" for the excellent service.

This is a must do for anyone on Hatteras Island! There’s a great playground for kids, you can sip while you wait, check out the pier, and take lots of great pictures! Once you get inside, the food is fantastic and they even have delicious vegan options too!

Excellent food and service! I’d recommend calling and having reservations. We didn’t and were luckily they had a table. I guess they only have a few for people that don’t have one.We ate outside and it was gorgeous!

The atmosphere was nice and friendly, heard strangers having conversation.We sat at the bar to wait for a table, told 15mins wait, but never got seated. We end up just ordering at the bar.Baked Oysters Rockefeller: “House recipe of 6 stuffed fresh shucked oysters with baby spinach, dried onions, hollandaise sauce, lime juice and applewood-smoked bacon topped with parmesan, and North Carolina Gouda cheese.” It was good, mainly tasted the saltiness of the parmesan. Flavors from other ingredients didn’t come through.Seafood Au Gratin: “N.C. Shrimp, plump North Atlantic sea scallops, and crabmeat in a creamy cheesy mirepoix sauce over penne pasta and topped with torched provolone and parmesan. Served with garlic bread”. This was a bit disappointing, not creamy, just watery cheese soup, not much flavor to it. The scallops and shrimps were the only good thing about the dish.

I was very enthusiastic to try this restaurant since I had heard very conmemorable reviews from locals and online, but was utterly disappointed.The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff, from the host to the waitress, were all helpful and great.They even have live music which was very entertaining,but if loud noise is not for you I recommend you sit further away, to your preference.But when it came to the food and beverage, I felt it overpriced just like any restaurant and establishment at the beach.The quality and taste of the food was what ruined the experience for me.I believe their favorite seasoning is salt because it was the only thing I was able to savor in my meal.From the appetizer to my main course.I was really looking forward to my wild mushrooms ravioli.But my plate was sloppily placed and very greasy.Poorly garnished and also too salty.When it came to my beverage I ordered a spicy margarita which was not what I perceived when I tasted it.

This is going to be a bit long. If you want the short version, just go. Regardless of what you get it's delicious. Who cares if there is a wait... Just wait!We did. Waited. As we were sitting there numerous people leaving kept saying how wonderful their food was. Ohh it was so delicious. That was the best meal. All I could think was "yeah right, not all of these people had a great meal". We get seated. Our server was great. Even when she was busy helping other tables another server would bring our food or check in on us. The teamwork here was phenomenal. Other establishments should take note. Anyways, we order some appetizers. Spinach dip, to be safe for me, and grouper bites. Both soo delicious. The dip was a little, very cheesy but still good.Now I'm not one who likes fish, seafood, shellfish, any of it. I try and try and it never works for me. The Salmon De Port (something like that) kept calling to me so I figured why not, I'm on vacation right? I ate the whole dang thing! The flavor was wonderful. Even the salmon was cooked perfectly. The risotto, whooa just right! We also got the clams linguini. The sauce was out of this world! I've never tasted something like thag before! I wish we had saved room for dessert.Needless to say we also left saying how delicious and wonderful everything was.

What a delightful experience! We arrived on a Tuesday night shortly after 7:00 pm. The wait was approximately 20 minutes which we passed lounging in the wooden chairs outside, stargazing and watching the ISS fly over. Everyone we encountered (host, water guy, drink bringer, and waitress) were all very hospitable.My wife ordered the shrimp and grits, which she loved. I tasted it and agreed. Adorned with andouille sausage, mushrooms, and a Cajun Alfredo sauce, this dish is a flavorful take on a classic Southern dish with just the right amount of kick.I had the chipotle chicken Parmesan. Again, a spicy twist on an old favorite. My taste buds were dancing with delight.The servings are big, allowing us to get our fill and still take home half of each dish for lunch the next day.The sweet tea is “Southern sweet”, which is the nectar I grew up on, so be advised if you don’t like sweet beverages.The dessert menu looked amazing but we simply didn’t have room for anything more.Overall a wonderful experience and we’d definitely like to go back.

First of all, Sergei is the BEST! This place is excellent. Don’t bother with Po house. This place has a killer atmosphere, excellent food for adults and kids, great service, clean bathrooms and restaurant, awesome outdoor area for eating and a very cool kids pirate play area with parental viewing Adirondack chairs. Superrr Doggie friendly. A receipt from here gets you on the pier for free.Can’t say enough great things. Just go here. Every night. Don’t bother elsewhere

We usually eat here twice while on Vacation. They have consistently great food and service. Always have gluten-free menu options and respectful of food allergies. Food is delicious with great portions and the service has always been friendly. If you're also GF then, I definitely recommend the grilled grouper bites for an appetizer and the Shrimp & Grits or GF Baja Fish Tacos!

4 years later, after Dorian and then covid, we’ve been able to go back. Still great, friendly and the food is awesome. Had the grouper bites one night and the curry (with shrimp) the other night. Also had the mahi tacos and the chowder…. All good. Hope it won’t be 4 years until the next time!!Great place... Probably our new favourite spot in Avon. Went there about 4 times during our week stay... sometimes just for drinks, sometime for food too. Service was great, people at the bar friendly and the food excellent. Had the fish bites, fish tacos, crab cakes, calamari, curry, etc... all was good. Can't wait to go back on our next trip...

If you’re visiting Avon, NC and looking for a good place to eat and chill then look no further. Absolutely great food, friendly staff, and overall comfortable environment indoor and outdoor. Also, they had great menu options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike. Hands down THE BEST food I tried while staying at Avon!

Nice tavern with a bar and an outside beer garden. A patio decorated with sharks and chic sea bras hanging by the ceiling gives it a homey tavern feeling. The calamari was the best I've had on the east coast. Soups were okay. The tuna (medium-rear) was very good. The shrimp pasta was spicy but pleasant. Fried fish was very salty and the burger was dry and overcooked. The wait staff was friendly.

The only place that would take our party of twelve in Avon NC. This place had fantastic food and a great atmosphere. The drink selection was top notch and everyone at our table was pleased with the service. Highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms and fish tacos! Can’t wait to go back.

Food was delicious, drinks tasty, the server was personable and friendly..I've lived most my life on Hatteras Island and can say that Joe Thompson is definitely doing something right.. this is one of my new favorite places to eat, abc would definitely recommend stopping by to dine..I'd recommend reservations ( which we had) for it seems I'm not alone in my opinion..it's always great to patronize a local owned restaurant..and one that has the delicious food and service we received.. looking forward to going back home soon and going back to enjoy another awesome meal .

absolutely love this place! it is one OF THE ONLY DOG FRIENDLY PLACES IN ALL OF THE OUTBANKS.the food was amazing and their beer garden allows dogs to roam freely with no leash. live life off leashTHERE IS ALSO A PLAY GROUND FOR THE KIDS!

Pangea Tavern you did it again!! We have waited all year to vacation and come to the BEST RESTAURANT OUT HERE!!!! We had an OUTSTANDING experience from the reservation to the service and OMG the food was to die for!!! Our server Gibbs was super friendly she knows her job that's for certain!!! I just can't say enough good things about you guys the hostess, busser anyone working that walked past us was just super friendly. Thanks Pangea's Tavern for making our last night on vacation OUTSTANDING!!!SEE YOU NEXT YEAR🙂
