This place is not your average food lion. They don't carry anything a normal food lion does, so stock up what you need before your trip to the OBX. We were thoroughly disappointed. It was basically a large convenience store...

They have all kinds of tourists type stuff available. Also lots of beach necessities: toys, chairs, coolers, etc. They are well stocked and have good prices.

For all the tourists this is your fast food right here on Cape Hatteras Island, make sure you bring your fryer!! But great service. And if you stop and ask somebody they know where it's at💯👋

Its a good place to have in Avon, NC but watch when you go Sundays because that's when EVERYONE goes. Busy time starts at 10am. They carry alcohol (wine & beer)

This was nice, like your average Food Lion. The only thing we didn't care for was the staff. They were far from friendly. One my husband said hello to in passing just looked at him like he had 3 heads and just kept walking, and the cashier was so engrossed in her conversation with another staff member, the only thing she said to us was the total of our bill. No hello, no did you find everything ok? Didn't even respond to our, "Hey, how are you today? " Next time I think we will drive a little extra up to Nags Head. At least they are friendlier there. Giving bonus points for the bagging job though, it was stellar.

The prices are superb. For a family of 4 , the bill was only $400.00. It included meats, veggies, eggs and etcNew York prices would have been $800.00. The house we rented was dirty and disgusting. At least, the food made me happy. Thank you Food Lion.

Nneka, are cashier was very efficient friendly and very pleasant and professional. I informed the manager that they can't let her go. But she leaves in 3 days to go back to college she was a pleasant experience and a crowded weekend down at the Outer Banks

Great, well stocked store. It’s bright and inviting. I’ve never found such helpful staff in a grocery store. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s open 24 hrs. a day.I was also impressed that they use paper bags! They obviously care about the environment!

Well-stocked store with convenient hours and helpful staff. I really appreciated the attention to detail and the familiar layout despite not being from the region. I would have liked more budget-friendly or more high-end options to differentiate this business from Publix, though. I can’t wait to come back!

Easy to get to, and excellent selection of goods despite being in an island town. They have a convenient selection of pool, beach, and souvenir items.The parking lot itself is a bit chaotic at times; we've been close to being hit on several occasions. I guess people lose all concept of how to drive when they come out for vacation.

This place was absolutely horrible!!! Was over crowded, they had skids in every isle to be stocked!!! Items should be stocked at night before the store was open!!! You had a very hard time getting down each isle as well due to all the product sitting through out the isle!!! I will not be coming back to this location again

Extremely disappointed with the deli. You can only purchase the precut deli meat. When I asked for a 1.5 sliced ultra thin I was directed to the 1 lb precut meats which are sliced thick. So my question would be… Have they stopped slicing meats to order at the deli counter? Other than that the store was clean and stocked.

Good selection and friendly staff. Certain days I avoid like the plague bc it’s chaotic & ppl forget how to drive in the parking lot. Food Lion to Go is amazing and the fee is worth every penny to avoid going inside.

It was more accessible to shop before the vacationers arrived, after the sanction was lifted, it appears the mighty dollar is more important than a life or 2, 3..100s. I say this not to insult the local hard working people who work here, who cannot control what the Avon, NC Food Lion allows.. for I am a native of Kinnakeet who lives on the north side now, and so I see the difference in the Food Lions North of Hatteras Island..I did not want my mother who is older now with several health conditions to shop here, but she has no choice and is limited to getting off to shop elsewhere.. I saw myself it has to many people in the store at one time shopping, ( as many as any other summer) I saw some without face coverings,(or having them pulled down,isn't the point of wearing them to keep them on?? ) it did not have the alcohol wipe down cloths stocked to wipe your cart, and that really makes you want to touch a cart after it's been handled by ?? it appears that the "foreign students " are working again, the cashier waiting on my mother, well customer service wasn't her best trait, being ignored and grunted at isn't my idea of "Friendly Customer Service "..obviously she wasn't trained , also workers checking out customers, could you consider that ignoring a customer, or speaking to friends in other checkout lines may not be the best idea, and I'm sorry you must hate working here, but throwing groceries into bags to break open, or when I take time to separate cold items and there all bagged into different bags mixed up. Come on now, whats that for? I'm still not sure how there can be so many workers who appear obviously to be students here? Especially since the Food Lions North of the Outer Banks are abiding to the Careful Shopping Measures and I have not seen student workers, or employees that are not local, they also offer order and pickup services which is wonderful, especially for myself as a multi heart valve recipient who has to be very careful to not catch anything, and especially not the Covid 19 * which appears much more rampant on Hatteras Island. Wonder why?? I hate to ramble on, but if you care for your year long shoppers that keep you in business you really should consider at the least 'offering shop online and pickup'.. there is people here who are elderly, health conditions and cant afford to get sick. I hope next time I am forced to take a loved one in here to shop I see some better rules in effect, until then, shop at your own risk, wear throw away gloves, bring your own sanitizer and keep mask on ..for those who say I'm exaggerating well I've already had some close to me who Has Had the Covid" and it's still affecting them, so save the insults, be smart, use common sense. And again shop safe,* a additional review, as of today. 7/28/20 the only thing I was happy about was the cashier who checked my mother out whowas a local who was friendly, helpful, acknowledging us with the Best Customer Service of all I've seen in Avons Food Lion, Glenda, thank you!for all the faults you make up with your wonderful attitude, (maybe she should be giving other employees Customer Service training) I say that after attempting to speak to some employees in the aisles who seemed hard of hearing to my directed questions, I say.. Shame on you who are in management & are not enforcing face coverings,6ft rule, I documented this, I'm not a mean customer trying to cause issues, I'm a customer with artificial heart valves, a daughter to my mother with a Poor Immune system,who I do not want to see become sick, because of lack of following thru with NC & Dare County imposed rules for our safety. I post only a couple pictures to prove my point, but I took pictures of at least 12 people shopping, no mask, mask pulled down, walking up on us & almost knocking my mother down (its 6ft. distance folks) and then I watched coughing observed then opening the freezer doors, I avoided touching anything without a covering on my hands.. please, tourists vacationing, perhaps even locals.Please Respect Others Around You. To late after exposure. Thank you

One word - Fustercluck !!!Employees were RUDE, aisles were blocked with carts and carts filled with broke down boxes, and tall skinny only dude (employee) who stands around in the produce section in a daze while picking his face (DISGUSTING!!!).I understand a business needed to put product out but to do it at the busiest time of the day is not a swift move. We all (5 of us) went into Food Lion happy and we ALL came out grumpy - Thx Food Lion !!!

The busiest Food Lion I've ever been to. I have never, ever seen so many employees working inside one grocery store before.They were so busy. They store was packed. the produce was beautiful, there was good selections of everything.Employees were sweeping, cleaning, stocking.... I think all of the lines were open. They manage to keep it all together and looking great.There were a lot of rude people in there, walking all over people in a mad rush to get to the beach.... oblivious that anyone else was there. Completely not their fault. But geeeeez.

This place is been insanely busy both times we have stopped, but every register has been open, and it’s been super easy to get in and out. Huge selection, and better than any other Food Lion I have ever been in. Very well-stocked, even though it’s the only grocery store in the area. My family has been shopping here since we first came to OBX in the 90s, and it’s easy to see why they are still the best grocery store around Avon, regardless that they are the only one!

Lots of choices in produce. It is very convenient to make healthy meals on vacation. The lanes seem to go consistently, so there isn't a long wait to check out.
