Loved this place for years. As of today, I won't be back. Second time in a week I payed for propane that they love to charge for but "don't have time to fill"I left last week after paying, with nothing... I'm about to have to drive away again, $17 lighter and no propane.

one thing i am known for is "loving Ace" and this Ace in particular has everything i want from my local hardware store. Last year a man who works there whose name I forget drew me a diagram when i was replacing some slip joint nuts and washers for the kitchen sink. i keep it there for reference. that kindness and helpfulness isn't rare here! hardware stores are often the place you frustratedly go 5 times in a day and they make it enjoyable :) and the popcorn maker is usually in action!!

Thanks to Ace hardware for accepting my returns from another store yesterday! Since these are franchises and have different owners, they didn't have to do that. I appreciate the courtesy and customer service which saved me from having to go back across town to the original store I had shopped, during a very busy day!

I rated two stars because of the warming hospitality they gave when we walked in the door but they didn't have what I needed in stock and when I went back a week later they still didn't have it beings disappointing

To always be greeted with a welcoming smile at the door and the willingness to ensure that I leave a satisfied customer is truly rewarding. The staff are all highly skilled knowledgeable professionals, and take pride in their work to assist each customer, paying special attention to even the smallest detail. Their prices are competitive, frequently cheaper and having a vast supply of quality products. I’ve had the pleasure of being helped on numerous occasions by Finn and Chris, who’ve exceeded all my expectations. I must also compliment Ian, my problem solver guru, who assisted me on a very complex project, showing limitless patience, explaining each step to accommodate all of my crazy requirements. I love this store. The staff is always so helpful when I've ever gone there and for my son the best part of every visit is the free hot popcorn waiting on him every time he steps in the door, lol. On this visit we were looking for creative Mother's Day gifts and I needed a wall paper smoother for my craft projects. I ended up buying 2 and unfortunately we didn't find any gifts but the search will continue.

This store is always SO friendly and helpful. I love that they have specialty cleaning products that many other stores don't carry. I also get all of my Benjamin Moore paints here.

Overpriced and rude employees. Ami parked on the side of the store for 20 minutes before buying 10 bags to be loaded in the vicinity: The employee who was loading the much unloaded on me about it making him late for work by 30 minutes (exaggerated). I had to finally tell him I got the point , please stop talking about it. You would think I drove into the side of the building. Jeez. Lowe’s from now on

Very great service, however right at closing you kinda feel rushed and the employees just stare at you until you leave the store. I understand that it's closing time but we had to go back and check the item numbers on the bolts we purchased because it wasn't ringing up. Other than that, I would consider going back just not near quitting time.

Love our little local hardware store. It is a little more pricey than the big box stores but the customer service can't be beat here.The staff is super knowledgeable and always willing to help. And you can't beat the fact that they offer free popcorn!

Wow, the employees that work here are stellar! Just moved here and missing literally one 🔩 for our bed. We were promptly helped and the man who helped us found the part in like 30 seconds. Casher was super friendly. Can't wait to come back and shop for gardening stuff!!

I have been coming to Ace on Merrimon Ave for years. I have never had anything other than a great experience. I am not good with things around the house. I have come into the store and had no idea what I was doing and the folks will know exactly what I need. The thing that blows me away is that everyone working their knows EXACTLY where everything is. How do they know? Do they study the locations? Not only do they know which aisle everything is in, they know where in each aisle it is. Every time.I have had keys duplicates, I’ve bought locks, sprays, hats, cleaners…everything. I don’t know if all of the stores are like this one, but every time I go in there I leave happy. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Excellent service, knowledgeable staff & at 6:15pm on a Sat night, they DID have a 2inch, 12mm bolt, to replace the cheap one I bought on Amazon that got stripped! Thanks Ace for a well organized store, where staff are glad you came- Well done 👍!

Took a garden tool in that had not been sharpened/serviced in 40 years. Was unsafe, as metal blade would slide back towards user. They sharpened both blades, secured the blade for safety, even painted it! Looks like brand new! Incredible service, done in a matter of a few days, with kind/helpful staff. Thanks!

Very well , The customer service here where I do all my hardware shopping now for everything having to do with groundkeeping, tools, etc. The Customer Service here is Exellent and the people are very helpful and seem to enjoy what they are doing compared to other places I've gone in the past. I would highly recommend this place to anyone including the one on Haywood Rd. In West Asheville. Almost every time I go there, I wonder why I ever go to big box stores at all. It's so much more pleasant to visit a small hardware store than a large one. I love this place. 90% of the time, they have what I'm looking for. It's super convenient to get to and park. The best part is that it's easy to find someone knowledgeable to help you.

Went to get a key made!! Was great! We all have had that one moment when we had to get a key made got all the way home and it didn't work 🤦 Didn't have this problem here!! Will most definitely recommend!!

I always enjoy a trip to Ace, but I only gave 4 stars b/c sometimes the employees come at you faster than salesmen at a car dealership lol. Feels like a real life game of Call of Duty zombies..Sometimes I just want to "shop".

My first experience of many here was awesome 💖 I just moved into my new house and had a heavy wooden piece of art to hang. One of the store employees came out to my car to weigh it and then proceeded to help me find the best and most supportive hardware to put it up. He even made a great suggestion of changing out the rope for wire so it will have even more support. I’ve come here at least a dozen times since then, everyone is always friendly and willing to help. The coupons in the mail go a long way with their in-store deals, and their rewards program is free and definitely helps you to get bigger discounts faster. I also love the free popcorn which I indulge in every visit 😄

I highly recommend this Ace Hardware. They don't have the largest selection, but that makes it easier to get what I need in a hurry. The cashiers and staff are abundant and very helpful. I hate walking around big box stores for hours only to see an employee once in a while driving a forklift with the aisle blocked off. Ace is the place!

Great store! It has an excellent selection, excellent customer service and fair pricing. The knife sharpening service is exceptional, convenient and very reasonably priced. I am happy to have such a great hardware store nearby. I am always happy to shop here.
