I was in the area for vacation and stopped into the shop. Very clean shop and very courteous staff. They helped me locate some back issues. When I returned home my local shop started to have issues with the DC shipments. I was informed they would not be getting any DC shipments until after the start of the year. I contacted Scott at Pastimes and set up a temporary subscription service until my local shop starts to get DC in again. The first shipment was packaged very well (no damage at all). Great store and I will stop in again next time I am near.

The owner of the shop was extremely friendly and helpful. The store itself has a massive collection of comics some of the newest issues from marvel and dc, with some lesser known Manga and graphic novels.Not only was the owner incredibly passionate about comics but extremely knowledgeable. Putting together the entire run of superior Spider-Man for me at a very fair price but in a very quick manner. He was very excited and happy to do it!!

Employees here know their stuff! Love shopping here for many reasons. They have a massive amount of back issues and cool collectibles. If you’re into cool variants, this is the place to be. I also love conversing with the employees. They all are genuinely invested in what they’re selling and will talk to you about what you’re reading. Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, this is a place to check out!

This place is absolutely the best comic book store I've been to. They have everything. Decent prices, great staff, even a section of dollar comics for when you kid insists on spending their one dollar! Lol. I love the place and would highly reccomend. I don't take my son anywhere else anymore.

I was driving into Asheville this morning and passed by this store, I figured if it was still open when I drove back by then I would stop. It was!! I ended up buying my first comic book, Pokémon Adventures XY! I’m super excited to read it. It was at msrp value. I also looked at their Pokémon cards that they had locked up. I got a first edition Machamp to start my collection!! I have some of the new cards but none of the older ones, until now! It wasn’t in perfect condition, but for the price and just being able to say I have a first edition it was worth it to me! The guy working also gave me a handful of free base set cards to add to my collection after buying these things. It may have just been something little, but it got them a new customer for life. I’ve never been so excited to get home and put things with my small collection. Thank you guys again!! I’m so happy!

We came here originally to kill a little time and found an absolute gem of a place. This is an old school comic store that's been through it all and seen it all. They know what works and they have a damn good store. Absolutely loved it. The store is clean, the walls are lined with comic related items and posters, and the staff is super friendly and fun to talk to.Awesome experience, can't wait to come back!

This place is AWESOME!!! I had many questions about comic books, as I am new to the "scene" but Scott and his partner (didn't catch his name but was EXTREMELY helpful!!!) made me feel so comfortable, and so welcome!! Will definitely be going back in the future to find some cool comics for my little nephew and niece. They know where everything is and they go out of their way to help you find EXACTLY what you are looking for!! 5 stars ALL THE WAY!!! Love this place and the people!!

Hands DOWN my favorite comic book store since 1999. Knowledgeable hilarious staff. Chris always keeps me laughing and his recommendations are spot on. Huge selection, great prices, tons of parking. There is a reason why they are the oldest comic store in town and still going strong.

Pastimes comics is hands down my favorite comic book store! Scott and Chris are not only super friendly and knowledgeable but they genuinely care about their customers and their stellar customer service is unmatched. I can’t recommend them enough, so if you want awesome comics, Funko pops, or cool collectibles this is the place to go!!

Honestly this is my favorite comic shop. Full stop.I've been coming here a few times for the past year or year and a half? Maybe 2 years since I really got into collecting physical copies of comics. On my first trip out I hot up every comic shop in Asheville I could find. Pasttimes was definitely the best as I tend to look for earlier 2000's or older comics (they do have newer ones as well though).Every time I go out comic shopping I go here! I can't go often, because I spend too much. But their prices are really good too. I budget accordingly, the amount I spend is not a reflection of overinflated prices (they're fairly priced) at their shop, it's just because I leave with two stacks of comics every time I go in while I build up a small personal library. Oops.They're also pet friendly, so long as your pet is leashed and well behaved, if I remember the content of our email exchange right. I brought my cat while she was being harness trained, and to get her used to public! So far it is the only public place she's been seriously comfortable in and hasn't tried hiding. She was well behaved, but she was very young and the world was very new to her, she is also very shy. If their pet policy has changed since then I am not aware, but Salem is scared of cars so I don't take her out to the city much anymore and would no longer know!On top of that, the guys who run Pasttimes are super friendly! I always end up talking with at least one of them whenever I go in and I get wonderful recommendations for new series. Or even just discussing other topics. They're also super helpful when I am on the hunt for specific comics or runs. They didn't know my name, but come to find out they've started to remember who I am and called me "Impulse girl" because I b-line for the Impulse DC comics every single time I set foot thorough the door (Blue Beetle second, baby). The fact that they remember who I am though adds another level.I am often near Fayetteville now for college and between Asheville comic shops and Fayetteville comics shops, Pasttimes is my favorite and my highest recommendation. I'll put off a comic shop trip if I know I'll be near Asheville soon and go to Pasttimes instead.And for any ladies looking to go comic hunting either dreading potentially being talked down to by employees or other shoppers, or those of you that have had to endure that treatment - I know how you feel. It's why I marked so many off my list when I started as well. But I have never once had that issue as Pasttimes and even if I ever do, I know it will never be from one of the owners/workers. They're both wonderful gentleman and very friendly.So once again, I highly recommend Pasttime and have nothing but rave reviews for this wonderful shop!

My husband and I enjoy venturing to local comic book shops when we're on vacation - this was a gem! Gentleman has a great personality, clearly lives what he does and has a great relationship with local shoppers - that's a great sign to us. Spacing of shelves and merchandise was well thought out. Organization wasn't the best, but everything else made up for it. Will definitely return here if/when we're in the area again!

I have been in this store several times always impressed. Went today first time without one of my kids and was lucky enough there wasn’t too many people there and I had time to talk with ( I believe Chris even called back to thank him ) there are two men who run this both are great guys. I never leave reviews but I had to do my part to get the word out. You want a place with great selection pull list service and people that you can actually trust this is for you. I’m actually going to set up a pull list even tho I live 30 minutes away and pass 3 different comic stores on my way there, just to support these guys and have a little nerd talk about comics . Thank you guys you are definitely what this hobby needs!

Scott was very informative and knowledgeable about the comics you want. He is very friendly and a great person to talk to if you are interested about learning more behind the history of comics. He is very generous and wants you to come back. The store is one of the best comic stores I've been to and offer the best deals. They have a great selection and the store is easy to navigate. You feel like you are at home! Highly recommend checking this store out if you enjoy comic books.

Great shop! I’m from NC, but live in Tampa FL. We visited Asheville twice( last summer and last Christmas). They were always very friendly and helpful. Just a great atmosphere. I hope all is well, especially with our current events. See you guys once I return up there! Be safe!

I'm into sci-fi, oddities, and pretty much everything non-superhero, and this place has me covered (plus they have all the superhero stuff, too).

PastTimes is by far the best comic book shop I’ve ever been too. The owner and staff care deeply about your experience and are very engaging in helping me find the right graphic novel and recommending me similar books. The store has really great variety and selection of books and often have just what your looking for, the graphic novels are also taken very well care of. I I used to go to Blockbuster as a kid because it was fun to look at the new releases and rent a movie to watch. It was a experience that lended itself to the excitement of watching the movie when getting home. I get the same sense of nostalgia and comfort when going to PastTimes. If your looking for a comic book store, PastTimes is your store.

The owners are very cool and personable, always expect a great conversation here! They will find anything you’re looking for in the nerd realm. Best small business in the Weaverville/Asheville area.

This is the go-to comic shop for all of Asheville. The store clerk is always nice with a smile and is always try to help you out with any questions you have about anything nerdy you could ever want to know about. Highly recommended to anybody who likes any kind of comic they carry a huge assortment. Definitely hit this place up and show them some love they totally deserve it.

In a Quiet little strip mall in a small town in north carolina resides the kind of comic shop most people think died out in the 1960s. The kind where the customer is a friend.Great set up, friendly atmosphere. Large selection, and staff that knows the difference between Hollywood and paper comics.A great place to shop if you are as interested in the golden age of comic book stores as you are in the golden age of comics.

I have gone into plenty of comic book stores and know what to expect: I AM NOT A SPECULATOR I AM A COLLECTOR/READER and very passionate about my collection. That being said here are my grievances, the reason for reviewing is because of the general lack of care about me driving almost 2 hours round trip and having ZERO books of the book I had asked if they had in stock in the first place.-Prices way too high on literally every single book-Nothing even in the 1$ bin box worth buying, looked through most of the boxes.-selling variants or popular books for higher than msrp the same day they come out... you guys are a comic shop, why are you putting out brand new books for over list price instead of buying more of those books you know are going to be hot??-This store also has long boxes of back issue books for 25 cents that they defaced and stamped their store name right on the front of the books...and for what? advertising?-I drove 50 minutes and contacted the store owner a day before I came in trying to reserve a book only to be told they JUST sold it before I got there, WHY did you tell me you had the book then?! Very disappointing from a customer standpoint... I couldnt find a SINGLE thing to buy and was intentionally looking to spend even 1$ with you.Its 100% about the money for these guys, not about the passion of collecting/reading comics, at least thats how it comes off to me, maybe at one point these guys were into this business with the right mindset, but it does NOT seem that way anymore. I wont be back. massive mistake giving this place a second chance.
