Place was nice and clean. Love their new motto on their t-shirts. Groomer was professional. It would be cute to possibly show the animals in the surrounding areas from humane societies and shelter rescue places to make it easier to get animals adopted. Maybe that suggestion has already been completed.

PetSmart 3 McKenna Rd, Arden, NC 28704. BAD, BAD, BAD!!! Will NEVER step foot in that store again!! While in the store with my 3yr old daughter she wanted a couple fish. She picked out the bowl, the gravel and some toys for the fish to play with. She then picked out two small goldfish type fish. She was pretty happy about bringing them home. The first customer service person refused to sell us the fish because she said she felt the bowl was too small for the fish. Despite standing in front of a small tank with several of these fish inside. We wanted (2). So, after being refused service we left the store with now two customer service people watching me leave. My daughter was broken hearted and upset. I then stopped and worked it out to get my brother's old tank which is over 20 gallons. I returned and spoke with the second customer service person and told her problem was solved and we could buy the two fish now. We were refused service a SECOND TIME!!! Now I was told these types of fish "might" require additional tank cleaning. I said no problem we understand. We would like to purchase the fish now. We were refused a THIRD TIME!!! Now it seemed one type of fish might eat quicker than the other and "might" starve the other and she did not feel comfortable selling me the fish. I said OK...we will put a divider in the tank "if" that becomes an issue. For the FOURTH TIME!!! they refused us service despite me offering resolutions to all their concerns and said they did not feel comfortable selling me and my 3yr daughter (2) small fish. PetSmart should be called ZooSmart cause apparently your welcome to come see the animals, but not purchase them. Just as an FYI to PetSmart if you want to come across as being "super caring for the fish" might, just might maybe want to remove all the dead fish floating in your own tanks.... Just a thought. Also, Google forced me to select (1) star to post. Negative or no stars were not an option LOL.

This is more so the review of an employee. While the staff is always friendly and as helpful as possible, KORI is phenomenal!!!I started my first aquarium about 3 months ago. I did all the research I could do, but of course still have tons of questions- and like to hear other’s personal preferences and experiences.Kori has helped me many times, and is always very patient, helpful, and phenomenally knowledgeable. I specifically go to this location when I need something aquarium related, because I know if Kori is around I’m going to get the best possible advice and recommendations! #korideservesaraiseThank you so much!!

My dogs have been going to Petsmart both at Arden and in Michigan for a few years without any problems. My 10yr old, 25 pound Shih-tzu/Poodle mix has had hip dysplasia since birth. I've always informed the groomer(s) to just know he can't jump (Born without hip sockets) and to be careful with his back legs.Our most recent experience, I was very honest when I said "He's 10yrs old, he's kinda fussy about his feet, he's missing 12 teeth, so he's not going to hurt anyone, but I've given him his doggie aspirin that helps with his pain he had prior, so he should be ok. He was recently diagnosed with an esophageal issue where he coughs, he does not have kennel cough." I spelled it all out...I was told that if he coughed even once, they would have had to stop and call me to come and get him. I said "Well, he might cough.." Again, told they'd have to stop the grooming and have him removed. I was fine with anything they could do because he was a bit past due for his grooming, but his nails had been recently trimmed (the week prior) by my Vet, so his feet won't be an issue. (My Vet Tech didn't have a problem trimming his nails.)My dog was there for 4 hours. When I was called to come and get him because he was done, I was told "Because he sat through some of his grooming, and can't stand the entire time of the groom, they can no longer groom him...maybe find a place that has a sling for him." I paid my bill (you have to go to the back of the store to get the bill, then to the front of the store to pay the bill, then to the back of the store to get your dog and give a tip to the groomer,) I handed the groomer $20 for a tip and left.I fully explained prior, that my handicapped dog had hip issues from birth. He weighs 25 pounds. The groomer had no clue at what we've gone through that my little man can FINALLY sit...something he's never been able to do more than half of his life. He's never been able to use his back legs to scratch behind his ear like 'normal' dogs do. He can't jump up on things like 'normal' dogs do. He kinda runs funny, when he does run, But ya know what? His human parents are thrilled that he can finally, for a treat now, Sit instead of lying down. We rescued him from a horrible rescue situation where he had demodex mange, he was malnourished and had kennel cough. Then being diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia a few years ago. I'm so sorry my dog can't STAND for an hour or so waiting for someone to trim his fur. Shame on Him. I was told this was all "Company Policy"It's strange because our PetsMart Groomer in Michigan where we spend our summers doesn't have a problem grooming him, It's only this Arden store and he always gets "he was really good" report when I go get him.Sure I'll take my dog(s) somewhere else. Somewhere that they don't spend 3 hours locked in a cage (that the public never sees) waiting for 1 hour on the grooming table where they MUST STAND the entire hour. But you don't know how far my little dog has come in his short life, only to be turned away by a recent inexperienced graduate of a dog grooming school. I will make sure I tell everyone I know about my recent experience...not that you care I know, but 300 Facebook friends, most with dogs will know and that's more important to me than your "Corporate Policy" that excludes Special Needs Dogs.People, if your Dog isn't Perfect, PetsMart's newly graduated groomers will refuse to groom them due to their inexperience...Don't Rescue any Special Needs Dog and think PetsMart will be your friend...

Big store with a good inventory. A bit pricey, but they did match Walmart much lower price on Advantrix flea treatment without hesitation. Very friendly. They should have more registers open on Saturdays. Great parking.

The folks at the Banfield Hospital are amazing and caring, but the cashier(apart for the hospital) I had to deal with when purchasing some items was rude and didn't seem to want to be there..

Just terrible customer service. All those people working in the store watching the minorities but they can't help them when they are asking for help. I am sure it makes you feel more superior watching them like you are better but the service is just sad.Literally watched people needing help in store while a bunch of workers didn't help and were rude when they asked. Pure racist you guys should be ashamed of yourself.

I went in today to look at a snake I was interested in buying. When I called beforehand I was told I’d be able to hold it but when I got there I was then told there is a no handling policy unless I purchased it. Which is difficult because I wanted to see how it did with me handling it. An associate took it out with a snake hook to show me. Then proceeds to tell me that she has never held a snake or even touched one. That was extremely worrying so I told her to put it back. She then asks if I want her to pick it with her hands I said no considering what she just told me. After this interaction I’m left very upset about the whole thing.

Got a White Winter Hamster yesterday! So cool. And they had everything I needed to get me started. But there information is off. White Winter can totally live together same sex no problem but I was told NOT to do that. No biggie but that's where my fifth star went 🤷

Unless you find clearance, its rather pricey. Customer is good if you can find someone. And ive seen a few interactions with animals. Very professional yet personable at the same time. Good selection. And they usually have good alternatives to pricey brands.

Walked in about 10 minutes before closing. Knew exactly what I wanted . . . A mesh cat carrier. An employee was working in the area of carriers. I asked her to point me to a mesh carrier for cats . . . With an unhelpful tone of voice she responded “These are carriers for dogs. The cat carriers are on the other side but we don’t carry mesh carriers for cats.” So with that attitude I knew I was on my own. I walked to the other side, found the cat carriers, and lo and behold there were at least 6 different mesh carriers for cats. She was rude and provided no customer service whatsoever. Maybe because I was there right before closing time? I sure hope she is kinder tomorrow. If I did t need a carrier within the next 24 hours I would have taken my business somewhere else.

I purchased two baby chinchillas from this store in Arden and one is extremely underweight, has diarrhea, and is super sick and gravely dehydrated. When i purchased she was on paper bedding which is toxic for chinchillas if ingested. They didn’t know the chinchillas ages. I have spent hundreds on vet bills trying to save her and it’s still unsure if she will pull through. I really regret my purchase and this store mistreats their animals. I cannot get my money back because I refuse to return these chinchillas to those conditions. Please don’t make the same mistake !!

We use the groomers here and they have always been so kind to our furbaby. We've never had an issue of them coming back acting fearful or nervous. We've been able to get appointments in a decent time frame and the prices are affordable. I would recommend them.

Have never had an issue with this store in over a year until today. A manager, who refused to say her name or wear a name badge, refused to sell me prescription cat food because the flavor description on the card was different. In over 5 years buying prescription cat food, this is the first time someone told me about a policy that will “get her fired” if she sells me different food. I guess not wearing a badge or not doing your job properly will not get her fired, but selling a product poses a problem. Conveniently, no owner was in the store and Banfield was closed since it was a Sunday (11/20/2022) @ 2:20pm. She said they have the right one in the back and I was completely fine changing the flavor (originally it was not on the shelf). She came back empty handed and just stared at me saying she cannot sell me that food and they don’t have the one that they can sell me. Great customer service.Apart from the fact that I was at that same store 2-3 days ago, buying that same food after renewing my prescription card at the banfield service desk, she also did not offer any solutions. I was helped by an employee over the phone, who ordered the food for me online and worked with me to choose a different flavor since petsmart does not sell that flavor in wet food option at all. This manager, did not even bother to propose that as an option to solve the pickle, and I guess ordering different flavor online does not have the same “firing policy” as ordering different flavor in the store 😕

Will keep giving one star reviews until I can walk in, look at the Bettas and not see them dead or dying. Apparently Betta returns are different if they die within their return window. My guess is because the ones they sell often die the next day like in my case.I will give them points for writing tank recommendations for goldfish and handing advice for other fish in their aquarium area. However the same needs to be applied to Bettas. Y'all got to find a better way to keep them until they are sold. Otherwise they are sentenced to death before they are sold.
