This store has a very good selection of good quality cat food, which you won't find in big chain stores. Their prices are very reasonable, and they also carry very good pet toys. The staff is very friendly and will definitely assist you if you have any questions. I just wish they had more locations in the city

Alot of variety available in a small space from food to litter to grooming products. Also they carry raw food for dogs & cats. I gave an extra star because they help get out the word for adoptable cats. Right now they have a cat who lives in the shop available for adoption (maybe he hasn't been adopted yet). If you pass by you will see Buddy chilling in the window. Friendly staff.

Hands down my favorite pet store in the world!! I have been bringing my dog here since she was a puppy for everything. Multiple times I have spent hundreds at the vet trying to figure out her allergies or a tummy ache and the vet never had any useful help. Joseph at the vitamins counter saves the day every time! Once I stocked her up on vitamins her tummy aches where gone, she stopped coughing and itching, she seemed like she had more energy. They always give her treats while she’s there and give thoughtful recommendations on food that fits your and yours pets lifestyle. Wonderful little gem in the neighborhood. So grateful to have them.

Wonderful place to find a great selection high quality cat and dog food and pet care items, as well as a friendly, caring, and knowledgeable staff. Four years ago, my cat had a urinary tract blockage and almost died. I was unemployed and couldn't afford the surgery I was told he required. I went to Whiskers, as their senior staff do free consultations. I followed their recommendations, and stopped feeding my cat dry food, and eliminated fish and food containing grain. My cat's health improved and a subsequent vet visit confirmed that he no longer had the condition and was in excellent health. He's 6 years old now and still doing great. He's playful, full of energy, and a normal weight too. Following the recommendations of the staff at Whiskers saved his life.

Shout out to Joe for being super knowledgeable on what to give my toy poodle. I’ve been shopping here for 2 years. Recently relocated and am so very grateful for having a phone consultation and getting my ordered delivered. I’ve bought everything for my furry guy from this store since I got him at 2 months old. Shampoo, treats, vitamins, food, etc. I support my local small business owners.This store is the best and the section for vitamins is superior. For those of you who haven’t discovered this store go here before the vet gives you all sorts of medications for your furry children.. GRATEFUL to have found this store randomly on my way to get acupuncture. THANK YOU JOE and the staff at whiskers.

Love this place! Wonderful and knowledgeable staff! My vet(s) could not figure out why my beloved Shih Zhu wouldn't stop this horrible gagging! Sounded she would choke to death. So awful. Thousands of dollars later they still could not say the cause let alone treat her. A really good friend told me about Whiskers and the great results they had over the years in managing hard to treat health issues with their cats! So thrilled a place like this exists, alternative treatments for our beloved and cherished fur babies! ❤️ HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

This place is great. They really do have the lowest prices and their staff is incredibly knowledgeable. They have a ton of herbs and pet health solutions like vitamins and such. My only issue is they sell out quick of certain brands, so I end up having to go elsewhere. Always try and go Wednesday afternoon to ensure you get what you need. But you can always call and reserve their stock.

Not sure which location I spoke with on the phone. I placed an online order a couple days ago for some frozen food for one of my cats, to help with his kidneys. I received a call back about having to have next day shipping for frozen foods.. since I’m out of state.. and Lawrence I think his name was, was super super helpful in changing my order around for me. Not only that, but recommended some products to help, to give me options on changing my order. I received my order really quick. He did tell me the frozen food I was trying to order was really good as well, and I was able to special order it locally. I’ve never had any business be as thoughtful as whiskers. It really means a lot when you’re trying to find products to make sure your pet is healthy & happy. If I was in NYC, I’d def do my shopping there. I’ll also make sure to stop by when I make the trip a few hours north.

This review is long overdue since I’ve been shopping here even before it was possible to leave a review on the internet, however the fact that I’m still shopping there for this long is a testament that Whiskers is a very unique pet store. They’re truly pioneers in carrying a wide variety of raw foods and holistic supplements, as well as offering guidance if you’re shopping for a sick pet, or if you just want to set your pet up with the ideal maintenance regimen to prolong longevity.Additionally, they have excellent customer service. Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable. You can set up a reoccurring order and they will always have it ready, they’ll also order products for you if something isn’t in stock, and they also do free local delivery, The prices are reasonable, and they have a loyalty points program.Last but not least, they have the “cat ranch” that houses local rescue kitties that are up for adoption.

A special pet care store! Excellent prices, unique brands. Originators of World's Best Cat Litter. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable (though advice obviously will tend towards holistic v standard veterinary). Great delivery service. Often the front window will have adorable rescue kittens or cats for adoption.

I love Whiskers and hope they never go out of business. Yes, the owner can be a little grumpy, but his wife is very nice. Most importantly, you get not only products that you cannot find elsewhere, but also great advice. I got help after my dog had a severe reaction to a vaccine and I am going there to look for alternatives to harsh pesticides like Bravecto that vets are pushing on us to protect our dogs from fleas and ticks. I don't want to feed my dog toxic substances and I know Whiskers will have a safer alternative.

My vet referred me to stop by here to get some holistic alternative foods, treats for my 14 year old boy Frosti. Staff here is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable taking the time to listen to what is going on with my cat and suggesting food, treats vitamins for him. I have always heard of Whiskers Holistic Pet Care but not been here until today. Very happy with my first time here. Hopefully my boys will take the vitamin supplements without a problem 😸 I used to have a cat named Whiskers and didn't know about this store 😸

I love this place! It was recommended by a friend who is a neighborhood local. The associates were all so nice the gentleman at the register was so kind gave me some coupons for future use and signed me up for reward points. They have high quality products for the pets and they saved me a trip further into the city. They carry the brand of meal I needed for my dog. Excellent!!

Very Rude customer service, will never shop here again. Pet owners beware! Me posting what I think about your service on a public platform is not rude, it being transparent My card was charged without my knowledge and the order was sent out. I spoke to Brian who was very rude and combative. The order was returned by UPS and delivered on May 7 to whiskers. To date my card has not been credited. So you have your merchandise and my money. I will be satisfied when my card is credited.

Amendment to the previous review i posted 2 years ago: having my kitty recently been prescribed a specialized diet due to issues this place and staff have been able to help in a way no other pet store in NYC or online has been able to. They listened patiently to diagnosis and my concerns/problems I was experiencing with the prescribed diet and offered several options and suggestions to help. They were very informative and helpful, gave me a few things to try first (most places try to sell you everything at once) and I have to report that my kitty seems very very happy with what I bought.This place has products you can't find anywhere else, offer delivery and store pickup and have staff that truly know what they are talking about. For a small store they provide more variety and options then you can find anywhere else in the city.They have everything imaginable.... even a consultant that can advise you on any pet issues you are having.

Bravo Raw, Answers+, on and on.Phil, the proprietor never one to toot his own horn— was a colleague of the now world famous Dr. Marty Goldstein, DVM. Phil and his protege, Joseph are a treasure trove of information and are very generous with their time.You can stop in (weekdays are best) for an in-person consultation. Expect to pull up a chair and settle-in. Bring a notepad, too. The consultations are free, so please pay them in kind and be sure to purchase their recommendations from Whiskers.

I have been shopping at Whiskers for years. I have stayed a loyal customer there for many reasons. Firstly, I get my raw meat pet food there by Bravo (the best deal in raw pet food) as they are one of the few places that carries it and make it affordable. But what I LOVE most about this store is that Joe and the other gentleman with a cane who give amazing supportive holistic suggestions for pets that have issues. While not being vets, they do seem to have a surprising amount of knowledge, which I find very helpful in complimenting what a conventional vet tells me. They have many supplements you can add to your pets food to help prevent or heal an issue. They are truly genuine and caring-- not just trying to sell you something.I did notice while back, either via google or yelp, some people called them expensive (although, I think a lot of their prices are pretty competitive), but let me just say for the kind of service and expertise they give, it is well worth it. I am happy to continue to support this business that supports the well-being of my pet.
