It’s time to go to Amazon. When the prices are twice as much as Amazon or Chewy and the store just shuts down with no notice so you cannot get your dogs’ food, it’s time to go. I have been a customer here for the last eight years (at least) and have spent the ridiculous prices to be loyal to the store in my neighborhood and because Katherine is amazing. However Pet Market just does not have any loyalty. They closed the store on a Sunday without notice so my dogs ran out of food and I tried calling and despite the fact that they have another store, they refused to deliver the food or provide any other option. I will not support this business and pay the exorbitant prices for my two dogs when it means they close the store without any notice and I do not have a backup. I tried…. but I am switching to Amazon. (Also their new loyalty program is terrible-do not bother!)

I see some people are saying the prices are overpriced; however, it’s in a busy neighborhood, I think it’s expected for a small independent pet store. You most certainly go to one of the pet store that are mainstream, but you’ll have to go out of your way to find it. In the middle of shops and restaurants in the area, it’s nice to have a neighborhood pet store. I’ve been here a few times and I find it convenient. The people working there have always been welcoming and that’s why I keep going. One time I ran out of Vital dog food and they were able to get it for me the same day. It’s customer service and convenience for me that’s won me over.

Have to write a review about this place because of the nice, I believe Irish lady who works there. I went in to look for a coat for the pit bull of a homeless woman on a freezing day and her and her dog were both out in the cold on the sidewalk. I went to this store and this kind lady came to help me while I explained the situation. Before o knew it, she found a beautiful sweater for the dog and gave it to me for FREE. Her kindness and generosity won’t soon be forgetting and very much appreciated! Thank you!

This is our go-to shop in our HK neighborhood. They have made Apollo feel like he is part of the store since he was a little pup and we often just take a walk to the store to pick up little treat so he can say hello

I only have one thing to say to all the negative reviewers here: Please get off your high horse and stop overreacting to isolated incidences caused by what sounds like the same temp employee. Their regular employees are helpful, knowledgeable, and actually care! Especially the store manager, who is such a sweetheart. It's a small, independent business (not a chain like Petco) that only sells top-shelf and healthy products. So of course the prices are going to be slightly higher, you're paying for real quality food and brands.

My daughter goes to Alvin Ailey. The dance school is a few blocks away from this shop, located on 57th Street. My daughter and I pass by this shop often. We decided to walk in to purchase some items for our 2 cats and new puppy on Sunday, 11/24 at 11:05am. As we walk into the store, the sales rep behind the register doesn't acknowledge that she has customers entering her shop. Her eyes stay glued to her register /screen. After almost a minute of standing in silence in front of the register my husband clears his throat and asked her a question about a particular product. With zero eye contact, the sales rep points down 1 of the isles and continues to stare at the computer/register screen. My husband and I were completely turned off by the treatment of this person. I actually didn't really understand her response but just walked to the direction she pointed us to. We were ready to make purchases for our pets. We actually had some questions regarding 1 of the items they sold. I will just purchase what I need somewhere else, where I'm treated like a human being. Poor customer service is an understatement regarding my experience at this location.

Although I'm not a regular here, I've been here twice, and each time, the lady behind the counter was a sweetheart, she is friendly and available to help. I bought the Hill's Prescription Diet dry food from them, this store is one of the rare pet food stores in the city to carry this!

Horrible experience and way over priced. One of the clerks there talked me into buying a crazy expensive dog chew toy after I pushed back saying "I appreciate it but my dog tears through toys like this and I'm afraid he'll choke." The clerk pushed saying "Not this dig toy. He'll never get through it! And if he does bring it back and I'll give you a refund." In literally one day my dog destroyed the toy. When I brought it in the manager refused to take it back. No apologies or anything even after I explained the back and forth with the clerk. I was shocked! Never going back.

Couldn't even buy a bag of food because I was waiting for one woman and the employee to get a cat out from under the racks. Then she proceeded to go back to the register and could of easily rang my one item up and they decided they wanted to play with the cat when it did come out. Waited for like 15 minutes then left.

Very small, not a big variety of cat food. No FRISKIES at all. Only the new and expensive brand of cat food available. Staff wasn't friendly at all. And they gave me ripped shopping bags. Never visit them again.
