If you have ANY care for how your dog looks and how they are treated, steer clear of Petco!! What a sham. They only know how to shave and cannot deal with dogs that need extra patience and/or compassion. Not the groomers’ fault, it’s the corporations fault.

Our dog kiki is always groomed by Fernanda at the Upper East Side location and we always know she is in great hands with her. Our dog is very shy and not a big fan of grooming. Fernanda is very gentle and always so happy to see kiki and knows how to take care of her.

We were very satisfied with the courtesy and level of service received during our visit.Kevin did an amazing job with our puppy! He was very knowledgeable and eager to help us choose the best options for our fur baby. Eli loved the experience and was so comfortable with him, which was never usually the case with past grooming experiences. We will definitely be going back to see Kevin for all our future grooming needs!

Fernanda groomed my mini Schnauzer. The cut is perfect. She was very attentive to the details I expressed. I've already made his second appointment. This was my first time taking my little one to be groomed somewhere else other than at home, so of course I was nervous. If you are particular about your pup's cut, I'd absolutely recommend Fernanda.

Kevin is really great! He does so well with my dog, even after another groomer has some difficulty. Also the prices are more reasonable than some other places. I recommend walking I to the store to make an appointment as it seems nearly impossible to do over the phone or online.

Kevin is amazing at his craft. I have a shihtzu with a while lot of hair and after each cut with Kevin, he comes out looking like a model with extra swag and I get compliments from everyone as he prances down the street. When I bring my dog in, he doesn't shake, cry or run away. He actually runs to Kevin with kisses and doesn't look back. He loves being there which makes me feel great and it's a good feeling knowing he's being well taken care of, happy and will come out with an excellent cut. I can't say enough good things about Kevin. He and Archie now have a special bond which is adorable too. 5 stars!!

I recently moved to the neighborhood and due to the great reviews decided to try Petco Grooming. If you are used to a certain standard of grooming, I would pony up the extra dollars to go somewhere with better quality service and more experienced groomers. When asked how I wanted my dog’s hair cut, I replied “I don’t want her to look like a poodle.” To which one of the women behind the desk replied, “She won’t look like a poodle. That’s a different breed.” Most are familiar with a poodle cut referencing a shaved body and longer hair around the face. The fact that this universal reference was lost on a “professional” groomer made me question her skill set and the snark and lack of professionalism were an additional flag. My dog had a small amount of matting on her belly that required shaving, I asked that the groomer cut the rest of her hair down to a point that looked best based on how much needed to be cut down on her belly. She couldn’t do that or make a recommendation. This was clearly an amateur groomer and perhaps there are better groomers at this location. However, in my case I made an appointment with a more reliable dog groomer. Not sure what my pup would have looked like post-grooming in their hands. I did not want to risk it.

Kevin is GREAT! More than great. He’s very friendly and listens to what I want and then gives suggestions and recommendations based off my dogs, their life style, season and state of their coats. He always does and excellent job and they both come out looking amazing.

Christine was really nice upon arrival, she explained to me everything she was going to do with my dog. Which was surprising since I’ve been going there for 5 years and she’s the first one to go all in from the start. I felt confident and at ease that my pet would be safe in her care. Afterwards, she told me some highlights and funny stories about the grooming experience and had seemed to have bonded with my pet. Love that! Thanks christine!! You’re the best, Spider-Man butt is thankful 😂

I have been having my little cavapoo dog groomed at Petco since she was born. I continue to use Petco on E 86 St NYC because of Kevin the groomer. He does a great job and knows my dog. Even though the cost of grooming has increased somewhat over time it is still affordable.

Kevin is outstanding person + dog groomer. Store is under stocked + had trouble, forth time, with prime members check out...Very lovely cashier helped. Took about 1/2 hr to complete.

Our dog does needs a groom per se but gets a bath w de-shedding, Ear, eye and teeth cleaning w nail trimming. She comes back clean and happy, looking and smelling good with a significant diminution in the shedding for a day or two. They use our special shampoo at our request for her skin condition and always return it even when I forget. She is known and created warmly by everyone, even staff members who r not directly related to her bath experience.

Big pet store but not much help on the floor. Two workers were standing at displays at the front of the store and you have to ask someone for help. They do not carry IAms dog food.

They always take great care of my Corgi - Peanut Butter. They know how to pick her up (Corgi's need special handling due to their long backs) and make sure she is comfortable at all times. She looks and smells fab when I pick her up with a cute bandana!! Highly recommend Petco (lex and 86th) for grooming.
