Popped in on Monday for plants for my Betta fish. Popped back for a tank today (Wednesday). They had new Bettas in and I spoke to the fish expert, a super cool young man named TY.TY is very knowledgable about aquarium fish, especially Bettas and showed me his tank with six! 3m & 3f, advised on how to keep them together (from young). I bought another male today. And will visit regularly to find matching females - to hopefully have a mixed tank.Ty - I feel, is one of those people that doesn’t need to upsell (I get this at the Flat Iron Building branch / W 32nd st?) as he genuinely took the time to assist & educate me as he loves his job.I took the M104 bus but 96th st on the train3 is close by.Branch had a decent stock fulfilment. And bonus if you’re a dog fan - the groomers are upstairs - leave an extra 10-15 mins to admire all the four legged floofs that pop by!Oh and they had a 15% off offer. For signing up (name & #) - so I bought a secondary tank and rainbow Betta.

I went there today because I had a return and of course I've lost my receipt. However, Jason was extremely helpful and told me there were other ways that we could look up my purchase. Fortunately, we found it and I mentioned that I needed to go upstairs and get some vital pet. He said, why don't you do that and come down and we can do it all together, the refund, and my purchase, which made complete sense, but I was even thinking about it. I needed Vital Pet and it is in a locked refrigerator. I found an employee, Kibwe, who greeted me with a big smile, and told me of course he could help me.When I went to checkout, I asked about Stella and Chewy cat treats because my cat acts like the food is crack and he's completely addicted. Shaun the manager overheard me ask and told me that they do not have them in store yet, but they are ordering them. A really pleasant experience. The employees were kind and helpful. I highly recommend this store.I will definitely be going back to that store for my crazy cats needs. The prices are incredibly reasonable as well. I understand that small businesses need to make money and you should support them. However, I don't believe you should have to pay two or three times the price that you can get them for in Petco. Maybe if you're in a pinch, but my local store didn't even have Vital Pet last week and he told me he doesn't order it because every time he does, no one comes to buy it?UPDATE TO PREVIOUS RAVE REVIEW:Today was a completely different experience. A terrible one.Kelvin was utterly unhelpful, borderline rude, and, in fact, downright condescending. He acted as though I was stupid and trying to commit fraud. I always treat everyone the same, whether it be a janitor, a mailman, a salesperson, or a street sweeper. So, I did not appreciate him treating me the way he did. Was it because I was a woman? I presented him with a coupon from Stella and Chewy. He first rudely said it was too small and couldn't even be read. I apologized for that and askedif I should have printed it bigger. He said no. It says clearly that you cannot duplicate it. I said it was not a duplicate. I said I printed it upon receiving it from Stella and Chewy. I realize that you cannot duplicate coupons, and I replied that I would never do that; I said that it says on the coupon that you cannot do that. I would never attempt to to commit fraud over a $3.00 coupon coupon as I carry a $3200 Louis Vuitton bag. So that would be a joke. I said I signed up for an account with Stella and Chewy, and they sent me the email. He said, well, I can't give it to you anyway. It could be a duplicate. And I said, well, it's not. I signedup for an account, and they sent me this. He said, well, you can't use it. I said fine. He said they should have sent it to you in the mail. They should not have sent it to you by email. I did not realize he was a Stella and Chewy representative as well.Please see the attached email, coupon, and Petco receipt.Kelvin was a horrible, unprofessional representative of a Petco Ipreviously loved. In the future, I will most definitely pay the extra to support smaller businesses as they are definitely more customer-oriented and have much nicer cashiers.SEE EMAIL FROM STELLA AND CHEWY

Easy to make the appointment, everything went smooth on time. Staff is friendly, professional and super caring. My pup was excited the whole time, didn’t even feel his shots. Prices for annual checkups and vaccines affordable.

None of the employees assisted me when I rang the bell at the store. Another employee walked right past me , ignoring me, and took the elevator. I rang the bell again.I decided to get my plants myself. I took them to the front. I waited patiently at the front while another customer helped for a very long time, with many cans of pet food.The first associate asked me who got these plants for you? , and I replied I got them myself. The employee didn't mention anything about the policy at that point.The employee then asked Brianna who works in the Aquatics department, for the item sku. She opened the sku and I was charged for the item.Brianna then stated in a aggressive hostile tone, " Don't do that again". She also stated, " I clean those tanks, and I don't want YOUR hands in MY tanks".Instead of making an accusatory statement that could be taken offensively, Brianna should have stated , for example, " I'm sorry you had to wait. We like to make sure STORE POLICY is followed so, in case anything happens , you don't get blamed".No. Brianna didn't say any of the professionalism and her two other employees there heard her make the disrespectful and offensive statement. I always come to the store to be ignored, and I have had worse statements said to me here, so this only adds to the terrible service I usually receive.I have escalated this incident with the customer service team

I had a bad experience with a groomer who no longer works there. I wanted my dog to get a nice bath and cut for a family event. Lissette saved the day!!! She did a wonderful job and listened to any additional specialties I wanted. She’s is very welcoming and has an amazing personality. Thank you Lissette from Sage and the family for your hard work 😊.

This is a superb Petco location to go to the staff is absolutely amazing and so accommodating and I highly recommend them out of all Petco. Please choose them out of anywhere else. The team is amazing, and very sweet!

My experience at this Petco was absolutely dreadful when I took my dog in for grooming. Despite clearly expressing that my dog gets a bit nervous initially but calms down once I'm gone, the representative deliberately misinterpreted my words. Instead of understanding that my dog is perfectly okay, they wrongly claimed that my dog has seizures, creating unnecessary discomfort about grooming her. Furthermore, I suspect that the grooming staff, particularly an extremely rude woman, used the excuse of my dog's supposed condition as a convenient way to decline service, citing an overbooked schedule with dogs as an additional reason. Despite being a loyal customer for years, ever since this misinterpretation, I've encountered refusal from the grooming staff to attend to my dog.

Staff was extremely rude, with the manager yelling at me and my family due to a mishap during the grooming appointment with my dog being overly nervous, causing the appointment to take four hours longer than usual. I was alright with that, and the groomer stated that it was ok that I wouldn't be able to pick up my dog right away due to the timing change, but when going to pick up my dog, the manager was horrible to us, screamed at us, and decided to ban my dog from grooming across all petcos around the city. Never spending a penny here again

I have to say, this is the first time Petco at this location got it right. I called in the a.m. just to check if they had a particular food. The associate I'd spoken with gave me the information I needed, which was that they had the food but in a larger size. I took a chance to travel 2 hours there and what do you know? They had it. Thank you, Petco.

First Time getting my puppy groomed here/ever so I was very cautious. Josh did a great job my dog seemed comfortable. I can tell his teeth was brushed and he smelled great. I gave 4 stars only because when calling to confirm my appointment the day before I found out it was cancelled by mistake, They did fix & rebook after speaking with manager. But Grooming Was 5 Stars!

This place is a great place to buy whatever you need for your fish. That was my reason for going to this establishment that day.I went to buy some meds for my all red male betta fish. I was provided with a blue bottle called PIMAFIX and was told to follow the directions on the back as needed for 7 days. So far, i have been using it since I bought it. My fish had a bad gill infection for a while, and now it seems to be clearing up now. I took some time to look around at all the various fish that surrounded me. Sharks, and baby puffer fish, glow fish that glow in blues, pinks, yellows colors, and many, many betta fish to look at when you walk into their own section on the betta world.If you are an enormous fan of Betta Fishes, then this is absolutely the place to go. From decor to water plants, different aquarium homes, substrate in different colors, and many more. They have live insects for you to keep as pets or to feed as live food to big pets that you have. Really great place . Must check it out

This Petco is TERRIBLE. I bought two hamsters that died within a few days of purchase so I opted to purchase a different pet elsewhere. So I haven’t been back until recently. When my daughter looked at the mice. There were several dead in their cages. Shame on you petco for terrible breeding practices with your small animals. Also, this petco always looks like it’s going out of business because it’s a mess inside. I don’t understand!!!

I always go to this petco for my dogs shots. The workers are truly great. I know my dog is a very anxious dog but they are prepared for situations and his shots always go very quick.

This petco is the place to go to if you need to see bad petcare. The birds are attacking each other. They cram the leopard geckos in one cage. (As dominant reptiles if living with others they will attack), but its cool. If you need assistance with anything they won’t help you. Just try to do fill in work to evade the customer. Its all good. Understaffed. No wonder this place is failing in stock markets, income, and balance sheets.👏🏽👎🏽👎🏽

I went there to get a flightless fruitfly culture. It said online it was in stock. When I got there on a Friday I found out they were out of stock for a week. And it was too late to go to a different location. So now my rare and expensive Japanese Common Toadlets might die because they have nothing to eat 😡.

One of the workers named Celeste helped me find the right muzzle for my fur baby. Celeste was a great help. she went above and beyond in helping me. I’m truly grateful she was the one who assisted me. I would highly Recommend this location to my friends,family and coworkers. I hope all the other workers are a great help as well like Celeste. My overall experience was great in this store. The store was clean and all the staff was friendly. I’ll definitely come back to buy more stuff for my fur baby at this store.

The beta fish look lifeless , idknifbthere properly being taken care of .it's a shame there in a tiny container just waiting to die or be bought to just be put in another tiny tank ....waiting to die if not properly taken care of .Update 12/22/21This place is in need of stock the walls barely have any product in them .The fish still look sad .10/11/22Petco allowed teens to get away and steal a cat , you guys should be ashamed of yourselves .I hope the police find the culprits

Coming to this location was a long walk and disappointing. The stock or lack of was an issue. I had a number of items on my list for my dog and was only able to purchase one. Fortunately the trip wasn’t a complete loss due to a local pet store being close by and in route of my long walk back home. There, I was able to purchase everything that I needed. The dog supplies at this location is very underwhelming. Highly unlikely I’ll return.
