My experience at the Petco Turtle Bay location left much to be desired. Despite being a regular customer at the Union Square branch, I decided to try out the Turtle Bay location for grooming my dog, Cello. Unfortunately, this decision turned out to be a mistake.Upon entering the store, it was evident that it was in desperate need of renovation. The musty smell lingering in the air didn't exactly create a welcoming atmosphere. Nevertheless, I proceeded to the grooming section with Cello.To my surprise, the grooming process seemed to be faster than usual. Cello was already undergoing nail buffing when I returned after just an hour. While this efficiency was unexpected, it did raise some concerns about the quality of the service provided.Upon inspecting Cello after the grooming session, I noticed a scratch mark on her leg that was bleeding. Shockingly, none of the staff had noticed it until I brought it to their attention. It wasn't until I insisted that a manager intervened, providing basic sanitation for the wound. However, there was a lack of acknowledgment or apology for the oversight, and no offer of compensation or discount was made until I explicitly requested it.Overall, my experience at the Petco Turtle Bay location was disappointing and concerning. From the outdated facilities to the lack of attention to detail and customer care, I cannot recommend this location for pet grooming services. It's clear that improvements are needed to ensure the safety and satisfaction of customers and their beloved pets.

This Petco always has garbage in front of it. The manager has been made aware and does nothing. Yet it is responsible for cleaning it up. This store has been reported to our city council person.

I loved my Betta Fish I got there. The staff was so helpful and told me exactly what to buy and what I don't need. I always appreciate people who don't try and up sell!

It’s a pity that I didn’t read the reviews before taking my dog here. You’ll think if you pay $80 for grooming (minus tip) you’ll get a well groomed dog right? After about two hours they called for me to pick up my Pomeranian. His paw still dirty, his nails were barely cut and some not cut at all. Teeth still had some dirt plaques on it. The groomer told me that she could not brush my dog’s hair well enough cause he doesn’t like it. I picked him up with huge matted hair around his neck. After paying almost $100!!!!!! This is the first time my dog would come back from the groomers and he still has matts and now worsened matted hair. I am so annoyed. Petco it’s best you reply and refund my money or take out the matted hair cause this is unacceptable!!!! I would never again come here for grooming. It’s a pity I can’t remember the groomers name. Completely ridiculous!!!!!!!

Booked an appointment with Diana at 8AM - have been going to her for a while and I trust her. Doors were locked so waited outside for 30 min with another groomer who didn’t say a word to me. Then found out Diana no longer works there from one of the employees… I waited at the grooming door for 10 min and the one groomer that was there didn’t acknowledge me so I walked out. You lost your best groomer… and quick tip you should probably hire people that value customers time. Will never be returning.

I was in need to get some Timothy hay for my rabbit. So I walked over to the nearest Petco on 3rd Ave. I will say I was a little concerned if the location was open, since everything was pretty space. Small pet was on the lower floor and the Timothy hay was stocked. It was just hard find the prices for items. There was only one cashier with a pretty long line, but support finally came while I was checking out. Looks like the location needs a lot of help or they are going to close.

I was really thankful, Erika was able to assist me with my purchases: she's always very helpful and supportive whenever I see her on the sales floor and I'd just to like to take the time out to really applaud her on her excellent customer service and support.

People that work there are not very friendly or helpful. They just answer questions in a very limited and dry way. They don’t go out of their way to try to help you smile at least, but nothing. I did not feel as welcomed as I feel in other Petco’s.

I took my flat-coated retriever and border collie mix for grooming and de-shedding. After reading positive reviews, I chose Diana. I hoped to meet her when I dropped off my dog, but she was with another client. I was a bit uneasy about not meeting her. Our regular groomer at another Petco always, always comes out to receive my dog and greet me so we can discuss my dog's needs. I left and received a text less than two hours later. Upon my return, Diana was free yet made no effort to walk my dog out and meet me to advise how my dog did. She was with no other clients, just having chit chat with a colleague. I checked my dog and had a question about some hair that needed trimming. She came out in an apprehensive manner, and after hearing me out, clarified that would be an additional service. I said okay and opted not to do it. I was put off by her arrogant and dismissive manner. She made derogatory comments about the other Petco I frequent because they've done me the courtesy of trimming a very small patch of hair... which Diana was passionate about that being at a fee. Diana said the other location "is a mess." I was speechless. No worries if you'd like to charge, but the commentary was uncalled for. She was so off-putting and borderline combative, I knew I would never return. On my way home and throughout the night, my dog kept shaking her head in discomfort. I don't know if they applied too much liquid or powder to her ear, but we've not had that issue before. Concerned I called and learned that someone other than Diana bathed my dog. This VERY much upsets me. I am very protective of my dog, she's a working dog, and if this particular location has more than one person touching the dog, they should have informed me. I would have then opted out. The next day (today), I spoke with the manager Enrique and shared specific feedback, especially about Diana's uppity demeanor. I hope it's not contagious if she's running off to manager another store. I'll stick with the other Petco, even if it means a bus transfer.

I forgot the woman's name that work there with the glasses. She was working hard, and I was very upset at the customers, giving her a hard time. She deserves all the credit and love. Thank you whoever you are miss for your help. I had a wonderful experience at the store on my purchase

Are you looking for a groomer who does the job in Turtle Bay Petco NY? Diana is the one! We’ve been a longtime returning customer with her for years, had no issue with my dog’s bath or grooming. She just does the job every single time no matter what, and today my dog just received a special gift from her, what a surprise! I’m telling you she does the job with care and professional, period.

Big NO unless you don't have other grooming choices.1. My dog returned with dirty feet as if he had nothing there. Yellow muzzle as well. Some groomers (who I decide to return to) are able to clean them with no problem.2. Tip was asked before I saw my dog. I was asked to check out and leave a tip before I saw my dog. I left a standard tip. However, with the dirty feet, I wish I could withdraw my tip.3. My dog was more than happy to see me - a good sign that he's not happy with Petco. My dog usually ignores me when his stay is happy - at hospital, daycare, groomer he likes, etc. But my dog was very eager to meet me at Petco. And the one who seemed to be the manager barely responded to my dog. I believe my dog hates Petco.4. I feel bad for groomers too. They don't looked experienced and take longer than other groomers to handle my dog. My dog had bath and haircut in 2.5h with an experienced groomer. But today it took 2.5h to just have a bath. They look like apprentices and receive instructions from "manager" often. The cost is not high and they work long hours. I'm afraid they're not paid generously.

Assistant Manager, Chris was so helpful, kind, and wonderful with my dog who needed a pair of booties. So grateful he was there to advise us. 5 Stars for Chris and PETCO! Highly recommend.

The groomer was VERY RUDE to my dog, pulling directly on my dog's tail and body! My dog was trembling with fear when he saw the groomer! Shop assistants aren't really nice to animals!!!AND VERY RUDE!!! The clerk also adds extra money to the bill without checking with us about the extra charge. And when we confirmed the amount with the shop assistants, they tried to intimidate us!I would tell people I know never to go to petco again because of their VERY DISGUSTING attitude!!!

There are never any shopping bags!!! This is frustrating especially because I always buy a lot. Otherwise good store with decent selection.Update: had another terrible experience today. Cashier refused to bag my items stating that because I came with my own bag, I have to bag it myself and that they only bag it for you if you are using their bags. The weirdest explanation ever.

Took my dog for haircut for the first time and she broke out into a bad skin infection. We took her to the vet and they informed us that due to poor cleaning practices is why she broke out. We are still providing her with antibiotics and tomorrow is her last day on medication. The place was not that well kept and the images that are available to the public here on google do not represent that establishment. My partner and I feel so played. We assumed we’d have a better experience. Also, just a heads up when they clean the dog they take the dog into a back room with no visual of your dog. We will not be going back. If you’re in the Manhattan area I’d save my money and go to a different location. Would not recommend.

Favorite petco store in NY! I visit here often just to see the selection of new guinea pigs & hamsters ☺️seems to be a very popular pet store as the turnover of the animals is very quick. No dogs or cats for sale here

I went to this Petco to get my Jazzie her annual shots. The VetCo staff were very friendly and gentle to my puggle, she got through the exam and shots pretty well.This Petco location usually well stocked, but they didn't have the food toppers that she likes, so I have to order it online. Hopefully they get stuff back in stock.

Awful customer service, abhorrent behavior from the "store manager". Refused to help and assist with my Amazon returns. Store manager said she was calling the cops and to get out of the store when I asked for help with an amazon return. She refused to provide a reason why and just laughed and sat on her cell phone when I asked for help and to speak with someone else who can assist me. I've already filed a complaint with corporate and will never shop at this location again.

There was an older lady with glasses on at the cashier. I don’t think she was sober. I went in to return an online package. She started complaining before I walked to her. She was saying it was an Amazon package while the box and tape had “petco” printed all over. After I showed her the printed “petco”, she also used improper language said in front of me “what the hell is in there?” . Thank god another girl came and took over. I can’t believe how many more times I would have to listen her complaining if the other girl didn’t come.

Great selection but customer service can use some improvements. Paid for shopping bag for 3 items. Cashier places the two smallest in the bag and says the larger item wouldn't fit. She then walked away without offering me a receipt to help another two associates determine whether a fish someobe else purchased was male or female.Meanwhile, all of the items easily fit in the shopping bag which I packed myself.

The Petco on 52nd and second ave has 2 levels. Top, entrance level has all the necessities like food, etc and diwnstairs they have some animals. Saw the sign but didn't make it down to see personally. Great friendly and helpful staff.

Staff is always friendly and helpful. Store does run out of certain items a lot and I figure that is due to the fact that the store is small but just a bummer sometimes when your trying to run in to pick up supplies last minute. The store is three stories. Basement area is all needs for small animals, fish and reptiles. Ground floor basic cat supplies. 2nd floor I believe is dog supplies but never been up there.

Exceptionally rude and unhelpful phone etiquette at their store when addressing inquiries. Had an issue with rescheduling the start date of my puppies training classes, and have had to call three separate times to no avail. If I didn't have to call them so many times you can guarantee they would have ripped me off for the $250 I paid, and nobody would have noticed or cared.
