Mom & pops shop, love the old school way to approach the hobby is still present here. All environments glowing. Keep in mind it’s a small shop but really neat to experience. Picked up some of their fish myself. All doing great.

The owner is amazing and the pets are in perfect condition. We stopped in on vacation from RI and I must say it's worth the 3 hour drive-- great area and next to great coffee shop and art galleries..

At first I was skeptical of the tiny shop and how cramped it felt, but after interacting with the owner he seemed to encourage caring for the fish well. We bought a beta fish and the owner seemed to genuinely be encouraging good care practices and a “bigger is better” mentality on tanks. A lot of stores that we have visited offer a vase or mini tank for more than the price of a 5/10 gallon and call it a day, so his interest in the fish having a decent life was refreshing.

Healthy fish the shop Owner is friendly Happy with all my purchases. Got some Gold Barbs and Golden Wonders. Also sells Parakeets and Canary, frogs, toads saw some cool half moon guppys

Mediocre variety. Super cramped store. Horrible tank conditions. Dead fish in every tank. Bettas in cups. Shrimp in unfiltered Tupperware containers. Overstocked tanks. Arrowanas in a 10 gallon tank with a divider. A far cry from what I had read about this place.

I first went into the store when it was on Mulberry Street in Little Italy many years ago.The owner is so knowledgeable and so friendly and so helpful for free and I've told him he has to go up on his prices, after my purchase.He has a lot of stuff in his small space and all the tanks are shiny and clean and recycled as soon as necessary.There is a wide variety of fish and assessories. You will not be directed towards the most expensive. You will be shown what is right for your pets.You can not lose by going to Aqua Star.👍👍👍👍👍👍

I tried Pacific Aquarium first because it was bigger. Luckily they didn't have what I was looking for which led me to discover Aqua Star Pet! Their prices are so much better and Sam is so knowledgeable.They're a much smaller shop, but that's the charm of the Aqua Star Pet. Save some money and visit here first!

They have nice fish at a very good price. Got a pair of goldfish and the owner was very kind and helpful. Recommend this place for whoever is buying their first fish.

I'm really not a fan of the cramped conditions the fish are in. I get that an aquarium shop needs to stock up but this is Really cramped. I don't know too much about the care of specific fish but I know about red ear sliders and how they need heat bulb, basking light, a tank to swim in. Their two red ear sliders were just sitting in a plastic tub about the size of a shoe box and maybe 7 inches tall. Felt more like a fish/seafood market for food than to buy a pet to care for.

Mom and Pop store. Very good collection of freshwater fishes. Also has some small birds. Not a large shop, so not too many to choose from. But all healthy fishes. Owner was friendly to talk to.

Small independently owned pet shop by a pet loving senior citizen. This mom and pops business type is now long gone. Her is probably the last remaining hold out. He has a variety of small cichlid fishes, tropical fishes, and a good selection of fancy gold fishes peppered with an occasional flowerhorns and cat fishes p look us a turtle or two. He sells feeders like worms, crickets, and small fishes. He also sells birds. He uses every square inch of his narrow shop. The price is reasonable and he is fully stocked like a big pet shop chains, except in a space less than a quarter the size of petlands. Call ahead to see if he has what u are looking for since he is 10 minutes walking distance away from the nearest subway.

This is the greatest Aquarium shop in the world, less not NYC. I HAVE BEEN KEEPING FISH FOR OVER 40 years. Sammy is the best. Highly recommended this shop.

Looks pretty unassuming from outside..the best part is that the owner Sam is generous with his advice, perfect for beginners, also for experts. All are fresh water, not seawater, so easier maintenance wise.

Decent store but the fishes aren't kept in their optimal enviroments.. store was a little narrow and not the cleanest of all, but the prices are great so you be the judge.
