I went there the day after Thanksgiving to put My 10 year 7 month old Fur Baby to sleep...Tippy became very I'll very quickly...The staff especially Ramon was so sensitive and kind...they even sent me a personal sympathycard written from staff members that I will keep forever..Tippy was still alive in these pictures. Mommy WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MY BABY

I think the vets here were good but that’s about it. It is almost impossible to get an appointment and Iv had to take my cat to the ER on more than one occasion because they didn’t have an opening. When we did go for both the dog and cat, we waited two hours in the parking lot both times before being seen. The last straw came when my appointment was changed to a later time and when I showed up, we sat in the lot for two hours. When it was finally my turn, two dogs with emergencies were rushed in and taken before me. When I questioned why they were not sent to the ER, I was told the vet made an exception this time. Well how come no exception was made when I called for my cat and was told to go to the ER instead? I now go to Banfield and have realized this is not normal at all and wish I had gone sooner.

My first experience here was positive overall! Despite my dog being quite difficult to handle after visiting other vets, they were very patient with him. I commend them for their patience, and I am grateful that they were able to treat him at a reasonable price!

The care our Apollo received at Yonkers Animal Hospital was wonderful. Our Apollo is a 13 year old terrier mix who needed teeth cleaning, extractions and an adenoma removed. The Dr and staff gave us all the information and support needed. They were very Professional caring, friendly and compassionate. I highly recommend this practice for you furbaby

This place has declined tremendously. My dog has been a patient here for years and they no longer respond to calls or emails when my dog has allergies that needs to be treated. I've had a friendly worker that worked there for years tell me I can take my dog to another clinic for the annual exam/vaccines and transfer them over to avoid the examination fee. I did this process because their annual exam fee was hiking up. I then called to say it was transfered and a woman on the phone was completely lost, said that wasn't allowed, said she'd get back to me, and hasn't since. It's been months. I've spoken to other hospitals in the area and they are allowing it. Avoid this place, I'm not sure why the staff is suddenly unfriendly and inconsistent in their wording.

A while back my cat Taiyo was sick from urinary crystals for the second time. The first time I had taken him to VCA where they took care of the problem and charged my $3000.00 for his care, but didn’t bother to tell me it was preventable. Sure enough he got sick again, but this time I took him to this small clinic in Saw Mill River Rd. Once again he was kept at the clinic for a week and operated. The charge? A meager $800. AND I was advised of what the condition was and how to avoid it!! It’s been about 8 or 9 years. He’s never gotten sick again thanks to the care received at this clinic!! Do not trust anyone else with your fur baby!

On 10/11/22, I visited Yonkers Animal Hospital (YAH) with my dog Loki to follow up on a leg injury and Loki was examined by John Howell, DVM. During the examination, Dr. Howell determined that Loki had experienced a fracture on his left hind leg and referred me to Guardian Veterinary Specialists (GVS) for further examination and medical treatment. On the same date, I took Loki to GVS and he was examined by Dr. Sarno. Dr. Sarno indicated that Loki indeed experienced a leg fracture and placed a splint/cast bandage on his leg, prescribed medicine for pain and referred me back to YAH to monitor the bandage 3-4 days after this visit. On 10/12/22, I forwarded the discharge summary from GVS to YAH; I also contacted YAH on 10/12 (left a message requesting a call back) and then again on 10/13 to speak with Dr. Howell for case consultation after Loki's visit at GVS to follow up on Loki's treatment plan. When I spoke with Dr. Howell on 10/13, he confirmed that he received and reviewed the discharge summary GVS and agreed to follow up with the examination of Loki's bandage at his next scheduled appointment on 10/19/22. On 10/19/22, Dr. Howell examined Loki and shared his findings--he removed the bandaging and stated that the bandaging held up well, provided Loki with his final round of immunizations (as Loki is a puppy) and encouraged me to keep the bandaging dry and limit Loki's movement to promote the healing of the fracture. Dr. Howell advised me to make a follow up appointment in 3 weeks to continue to monitor the healing progress of the fracture. I went to the front desk reception area and advised that the next appointment would be in 3 weeks as per Dr. Howell. Receptionist went and spoke with Dr. Howell to confirm that he indeed was authorizing a follow up visit in 3 weeks; he returned to the reception area and advised Dr. Howell confirmed the follow up appointment in 3 weeks and scheduled an appointment for 11/9/22. On 11/5/22, I observed a foul odor and what appeared to be a lesion on the back of Loki's left hind leg, located directly above his bandage. On 11/7, I contacted YAH and requested an earlier appointment to follow up on this new concern--I was provided with an appointment on 11/8. On 11/8/22, Loki was examined by Sarah Razek, DVM and was determined to have a severe skin infection wound. Dr. Razek stated that she conferred with GVS, took x rays, sedated Loki, removed the bandaging and shaved the infected area down to promote healing. Dr. Razek confirmed that the fracture had healed and mentioned that there were other concerns about his bone but stated that she did not know how to explain these other bone concerns. Dr. Razek also stated that much was required to now address this skin wound infection and that it was very serious and that if it continued, it would quickly result in amputation of Loki's leg. At the time of her feedback, Dr. Razek was accompanied by YAHOffice Manager Cindy who stated that I should follow up with GVS for wound care in 3 days as YAH does not know how to take care of animal wounds. When I left YAH, I contacted GVS and spoke with staff there who stated that the wound is the direct responsibility of YAH as the bandaging must be changed every 3 days (and it was not) as complications often arise from bandages and that they should therefore follow up and closely monitor the progress of the healing on a daily basis. On 11/9/22, I contacted YAH to follow up and requested to speak with the owner of the practice and was told someone would return my call. On 11/10/22, I received a call from Office Manager who reiterated office manager was away for a professional acknowledged that there was no other person authorized or designated second in command to speak to my concerns and also asked that I send a picture of the wound to the clinic only after I emphasized my concerns and made several requests for YAH to monitor the progress of the healing of the wound.

Attended this practice with previous vets Gavan and Howell who were fantastic. Wanted my pet to remain a client since they have the medical records. New vet wanted to do new tests I said ok . New vet stated dog had signs of concerns and did blood work last week with no call back yet . Have tried to reach out several times to follow up. Still waiting for the results.

The staff was friendly and very professional. Beau does not usually take to people, but he felt comfortable with their handling. They are a young staff who are eager to help. The vet was warm and caring and again Beau felt comfortable with her.He also had a bath. The groomer goes back 30 years and bathed my other dogs. It was nice to chat with this very special man. I highly recommend Yonkers Animal Hospital for your pets.

WOOFIE, (LUCY (R.I.P) and BLACKIE (R.I.P) have been going to YONKERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL their whole lives. WE have had excellent experiences in the way our beloved pets have been welcomed, and genuinely cared for. The atmosphere is positive and gentle even at times when the prognosis may not be as good as we had hoped. As well, our dogs are happy to see the Docs and THE AMAZING CARING STAFF EACH AND EVERY TIME going in for health exams and GROOMING. We have sadly had two of our dogs “put to sleep”. MUCH RESPECT, PRIVACY, DIGNITY and QUIET was provided and helpful easing the pain of saying goodbye. BLESS THEIR KIND HEARTS AND SOULS. DR HOWELL “A shining star” in the city of Yonkers as well as a FABULOUS VETERINARIAN STAFF, the ASSISTANTS and SUPPORTIVE STAFF!

My 19 year old cat was scheduled for a grooming the day after Thanksgiving but due to being short staffed I have to cancel. They do no seem to understand that they have to work on my schedule, not there's. This is my busy time in the office in Manhattan and I do not own a car. The problem is his fur is matting so bad due to his age that it is ripping away from his skin and he is bleeding. I am unable to find out where from because he is a long haired cat. Know I have to wait until after Christmas and pray he does not get any infections from this.

I have been bringing my pets (both dogs and cats) to Yonkers Animal Hosp for over 30 years. Since the practice was sold, and the wonderful vets who ran the hospital, retired, the practice truly has become all about money. When I brought one of my cats sometime ago for a UTI the total bill including antibiotics was $267. I recently brought a different cat in for the same condition, I almost fell over when they said my bill was $825. This is absolutely outrageous.!! I had them remove the $260.18 for a “ total body function” and still paid over $500. When I said, I would never be back again no one seem to care, especially the woman doctor. What a shame at this wonderful practice is now someplace I would never return to, and have told many people never to go to Yonkers Animal Hosp.!

I have been taking my fur babies to this animal hospital for about 8 years. Recently, my little one Nico had some sort of skin allergy. I was able to get an appointment immediately. Everyone was so kind to me and Nico. With the treatment from the doctor, Nico began to feel better. She was so kind & reassured me that Nico would be ok! After treatment, he was more active and his playful self. Thank you so much Doctor & staff!!! Appreciate the kindness!! I’ll be certain to schedule in the rest of my fur babies for their follow up appointments. If I can give any advice, bring your fur babies to this animal hospital. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you all!

My puppy was limping and the appointment was given the same day. From the moment we arrived until we left the care was extraordinary. The next day the vet called back to check in on Luna.

The only good thing about this place is Jose. Very nice & caring receptionist. Other than that, the rest do not care. Needed to bring my dog in for a allergic reaction from a insect bite and was told by some snot nosed girl that they were to busy and that they could not see him until next week. The reservation fee is disgraceful and a money grubbing practice. This place has gone from a five star vet to a one star since Dr. Howell left. I don't know if it is run by corporate now, but it has totally lost it's compassion and charm and lost us as a future patient customer.

I've had the pleasure of utilizing this hospital for over 4 years now. In fact, Dr. G and Dr. Howell allowed me to have my first preceptor experience with them there. It is definitely been upgraded, even more efficient and very clean. The prices got a bit steeper, and I admit I miss the sense of community and personal care Dr. G and Dr. Howell used to give to the place, but overall it's a great and trustworthy place to bring the fur kids.

I have been using this facility since I got my pet, ( a cat) including the years during the pandemic period when the facility was sold and changed owners. I always made an appointment for whatever services I was bringing my pet in, which included all vaccinations, wellness checkup and spay/ neutering service. During the changeover, I did see a difference in the addition of more grooming services offered, which wasn't available prior, which definitely increased the number of people showing up un announced or ahead of their appointment time period (mostly dog owners) which caused a big backlog to the getting seen in time for the scheduled appointment. This year I was pleasantly surprised to see that the appointments are scheduled better with very little overlap and large amounts of owners and pets waiting in the waiting room including owners dropping off their pet for the grooming service. I arrived ahead of my scheduled time (about 1/2 hour) since I came by public transportation but was allowed to wait in the waiting room while waiting on my appointment. Each pet for the vet service visit is seen with the owner now present and the pets left for grooming are taken in once their owner had provided vaccination records to be received for the grooming. There was no walk-in service requested by any owner on the day I was at my appointment, but I overheard that during the the open hours, if there is a vet available, they may see the animal or at least provide a location where to get service if they couldn't. This is not a 24/7 emergency setting and the hours are limited to when they have vet services on hand. The expanded grooming service is also by appointment and does require that the pet have the required vaccinations. They also do a special grooming service for pets who need calming to be groomed (which may need the presence of the vet since the pet might need to be anesthetized to be groomed).Lastly, a deposit is required now ($75) which is applied directly to the bill at the end of the visit when paying. You do get multiple reminders via both text and emails (I chose to be reminded both methods) And you do get the reminders enough times to both remind you of the appointment and to make a change in time, but you can't last minute change the time at the appointment time because you will be charged that $75 if you don't show up as there's a reasonable cutoff time, to make changes. From my viewpoint, the YAH has fixed the issues which were problematic with the excessive walk-in show-up appointments. You do have to call to make appointments. It is run like a clinic with multiple vet, plus there's a grooming service by appointment.

This hospital doesn't care about animals they refuse to treat my dog sent us to another hospital that was just as bad so we went to another place they received the results we called back 8days later & they told us they didn't have the results when they received it 8days ago so we called the hospital we went to & got the email results in 1min we was told the doctor would call us back but he never did. When we took my dog in we also ask to get his nails cut they charged us & didn't even cut his nails. We waited about 3hrs outside when other people would come & wait 10-20mins & get to see the doctor before us this place is not professional they don't care just want to make money off you.

My dog has issues with his mouth and they say he's okay for oral surgery but I'm afraid, he's 18 years old and I don't want to lose him.

I’ve been taking my dog to Yonkers Animal hospital for over 3 years now. Check in and check out are always seamless. The doctors are knowledgeable and the staff is friendly. The prices are also reasonable at YAH. I love not having to wait in my car anymore (covid days). I definitely recommend and will continue to bring my dog here.

Worst place. These people are thieves, they are quick to collect a deposit but forget to mention their “cancellation fee of $75”. My dog was scheduled for grooming and shots, we paid $125 via telephone. We had travelled out of the country and ended up staying few more days due to flight cancellations. We came back sick with COVID the night before the appointment. We asked if appointment can be rescheduled because we don’t want to expose ourselves to anyone. Cindy the “manager “ verbalized that this will be considered a cancellation. I ask if we can still bring the dog in our sick state she went on to say that they are full for the day.

I've been taking my cat to Yonkers Animal Hospital since she was kitten. Two months ago we took her in for a check up, my cat wasn't feeling good. They gave me medicine for her. I Spend $800.00 dollars. And today I had to called them because my cat was dying. They'd told me they were booked and too bring her in next week. ( next week ) really ! They don't care it's all about the money. I had too go to Mt Vernon to put her to sleep. I will never recommend this Hospital.

For over a decade I use to take my pets there, however after Dr. Howell retired and Thrive took over the practice everything has gone down hill. After several visits under the new management and there corporate policies I just couldn't object myself or my fur babies to that place ever again. It's no longer Yonkers Animal Hospital, regardless of what the signs say. Thankfully I found a new vet for my fur babies, not as close, but totally worth the extra travel time.

It was awful! I have been a good client for the past 2 years with 2 pets and all their bills, BUT this clinic has been one disappointed after another. My pets never saw the same vet twice, and they have recently instated the deposit for appointments which is ridiculous. My cat wasn't in the mood to attend and I lost $100 with deposit & taxis. Never again, I am changing the vet clinic. And they lost 2 precious pets. Thank you for nothing!

I have been going to yonkers Hospital for many years. My previous cat Miss Sophie passed away from Cancer and the staff was so compassionate.I now have another cat Miss Gracie and she is just a doll and they love her. I would recommend this place to anyone. They make an effort to make sure you are comfortable.

Yonkers animal hospital is the worst. They refused to see my dog cause I was late because I am a overnight healthcare worker. My dog did not eat for 2 days, not drinking water. They did not care. They are heartless. They take your 75 dollar to make an appointment and keep it if you late and won’t make another appointment if you don’t pay another 75$.

Great Doctors and staff. Great for scheduled appointments. If you have an emergency there are surcharges.8/1/2020 UpdateStill have great doctors and staff. Only Vet I've used for Chewy the last 8 years. In an attempt to clean up scheduling they've added a deposit for appointments which is applied to your visit total. I've found that it is much easier to schedule appointments since they have added the deposit. People that are late or no shows would always have the waiting room packed or throw off the schedule. I appreciate appointments being on time now.

DO NOT TRUST THIS VET.After the original vets retired and left it’s not the same. The new vet doesn’t care about the animals just about money she did a bunch of tests on my dog and never even offered a solution to my dogs rash which was the purpose of my going there. I would recommend to try another location this one is just not it anymore. I don’t trust this new vet you can tell when someone really loves animals and you can tell when they are just doing it because of an obligation.

Awesome and very knowledgeable professionals. You’d think they’ll be like other Vets that take everything too serious (which is fine), but the friendly treatment and the love that they give your pet it’s just amazing. My Dog will be a regular here unless we have to move really far.Strongly recommend.
