Found this on google under “souvenir shops” on my way from Catskills, NY back to Connecticut. I would say the term “souvenir shop” is a sheer understatement. Don’t let the tiny cute storefront fool you, because this place just keeps going and going - upstairs, downstairs, left and right - it unfolds into a maze of rooms filled with everything imaginable. It’s a combination of Christmas tree shops, souvenir store, Yankee Candle store and then some. Everyone from handmade soaps to kitchen gadgets to Christmas decor, jewelry, clothes, pottery, art - you name it, they have it. Very impressive! Cashier was super nice and friendly, AND they had a bathroom - a nice surprise for someone on the road!

This is a christmas favorite shopping experience year after year!. Theres something here for every taste and budget. Lots of treats and special joys! They gift wrap for free...a huge perk! ❤️. Also from thanksgiving to christmas you can see a 10 min dancing light show outside at 7p. Well worth a visit to browse!

I've been going to Canal Towne Emporium since the 1970s. I used to go with my mother who always treated me to the black and red raspberry candies with the nonpareils and to the raspberry and orange jelly candies. I came to the website for two reasons. #1. I wanted to see if CTE would ship some candy to me here in Florida. And #2. My mom just passed away and I'm missing her. I figured if I could get some of that candy, I could enjoy reminiscing about visiting here with my mother. It was a chance to look at beautiful things when we came to Canal Towne Emporium. I spent time with my mom while learning a little history...browsing the store and seeing all the old-fashioned things they had for sale. And, like any kid, it was a chance to eat some delicious penny candy which she let me pick out myself. What could be better on a Sunday afternoon?

I have been coming here with my family since I was a child. This morning I was lucky enough to carry on the tradition with my wife and kids. I must say, this place is a time capsule in all of the best ways. From the home made furniture, toys and Nick nacs to the handcrafted furniture. The small Christmas villages are timeless and beautiful. The staff are as warm and welcoming as the atmosphere. The smell of cinnamon in the air brings the Xmas spirit... I love this place and absolutely suggest everyone stops in to see it. And don't forget to grab a candy stick on the way out..

I love this shop! It is a magical shop! Amazing Christmas decorations and beautiful gifts all year round. The children’s toy and book section of the store is my favorite!! I also like to buy candy by the pound there- chocolate raisins!

Amazing inventory of great at, unique products. Better still however, was the super customer service I revived after a checkout mistake resulted in one of the presents I’d bought not being included in the bag. Careful review of the receipt with one of the shop owners revealed the item was inadvertently not included in my purchase. They called me back and special ordered another one for me in time for Xmas. Really highly responsive business owner. I’d recommend this shop to anyone looking for unusual and one of a kind presents!

As a family, we have been visiting the Canal Towne Emporium for over 30 years. We started a tradition whereby we would take our two daughters to Canal Towne to choose a Christmas ornament. This grew to include our sons-in law and eventually to include our grandchildren. Our trip this year was a little later than usual, December 24, and we were greatly disappointed. It changed. Something was different; selection atmosphere, decorations, etc. This is definitely not the place of years gone by. We will probably give it another try next year thinking that we visited late in the season. But, if it is similar to this year we will probably look for a different source of our Christmas ornaments.

Lovely little collectibles shop with lots to see and buy. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Parking is on street so watch your mirrors. The plush animal section was my favorite. I could stay here for hours, 10/10 ☺️

The store was always my go to at the holidays because of their fabulous, intricate and different ornaments. A trip yesterday proved that they have taken a turn in their holiday, decorations, and ornaments. I was extremely disappointed the quality has changed And they are not as plentiful

Amazing place!! Very unique gifts. Jewelry, clothing and many interesting unique items. The store is very big! I spent hours and never made it to the second floor. The service is six stars. I love boutique shopping. This store would be in the top 3 I've ever shopped. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back! As unique as the items they carry so are those that work here. LOVE this place!!!!

This is one of my favorite stores of all time. I often go in and just roam around just looking at all the wonderful things they have. I enjoy it so much, I wish I could spend all day there. You can find gifts for anyone and everyone, but mostly I end up bringing stuff home for me instead! On top of it, the staff is so incredibly sweet and they remember my son and I ( great memory and customer service).

Love this place!! I can't say enough about this store. There are gifts for everyone. Many are handcrafted by local artisans. Their Christmas shop has beautiful decorations year round. I highly recommend this as must stop for locals and tourists.

This is a nice store with lovely items in it, however, a word of warning: check your receipt before leaving. I was charged twice for a pair of earrings. I certainly take partial blame as I should have been more aware but I was distracted by three lovely companions, who went shopping there with me. It wasn't until I got home (to NC) that I realized I was overcharged. I mentioned it to my daughter and she said that had actually happened to her there on one of her visits. Hopefully, it was an honest mistake and not intentional.Update: the store did correct this mistake for which I was very grateful. I would like to say that I have been going to Canal Towne Emporium for many, many years. It's always been a tradition for me, my daughters and my sister to make the trip to Wurtsboro to shop there during the Thanksgiving/Xmas season and have lunch in the village. They have beautiful things for sale and I usually do not walk out without buying something. This was the first time this happened to me and I accept partial blame as we were talking with the friendly cashier about where we lived, etc.; that could have been a bit of a distraction. I would recommend checking out this beautiful country store.

My very favorite store in NY. I go several times a year. There's such a wonderful variety of eclectic items -something for everyone on your list. NY items like maple syrup/candy plus great Catskills sweatshirts, beautiful decorative home items, furniture, kitchen items & linens, pictures, figurines, books, jewelry, Lovely sweaters, gloves, hats & scarves, adorable baby & childrens items, cards & stationary, plus an incredible display of Christmas items and decorations plus SO much more. Love this store, always have. We miss Gary though. By the way lose the mask requirement please! Let’s get back to normal. CDC has remove New York State as being in any kind of emergency situation and there are many other stores to shop in that do not require masks*****Thank you for the update about the mask requirement changing two weeks ago. The reason I wrote that about the masks was because on your website as recently as today it does say “masks required.”******Thank you and I will certainly see you soon.

This is the cutest store ever! Old fashioned candy, toys, hand made gifts and furniture, and SO MUCH CHRISTMAS!!! There's so much to see, I just spent like 2 hours in there with my mom and got some really great gifts.
