Staying at local KOA, after several self guided fishing attempts, decided to go get help. I had fly fished as a kid but that was about it. Met Brandon-crystal clear he knew what he was talking about. Instead of more failed self attempts, scheduled a 4 hr trip for the next day. Brandon guided me to absolute fly fishing success! Had the greatest time, I actually would have booked another one if I was in area longer! Thanks so much.

Our guide, Chris, took the time to teach us a variety of casting techniques before hitting the water. He gave us good individual attention and assistance. We didn't wind up catching anything (it's catch and release anyway), but we soaked in some beautiful spots on the Ausable River and felt more connected to place.

My wife and I booked a two hour learn to fly fish lesson and we had a great experience with Matt as our guide. He taught us the basics of two different casts before we headed down to the river to fish. He displayed patience while we honed our technique on the lawn. All gear was provided as advertised. As avid hikers we enjoy being outdoors and fishing on the river was both exciting and tranquil. I still need a lot of practice but I'm already looking at entry level gear to participate in the sport. Matt was a very knowledgeable guide who was able to answer our questions, give us pointers, and entertain us while we attempted to look like we knew what we were doing. One of us, not I, even hooked a rainbow trout. Thank you Matt and co. at The Hungry Trout Fly Shop!

My boyfriend and I did our first fly fishing lesson today and it was amazing!Reed was our instructor and I could not recommend him enough . He was kind, patient, extremely knowledgeable and made it fun the entire time. The location is gorgeous and very convenient.This experience definitely left us wanting to do it again!

Evan, the owner has been selling me and assisting me in most of the last 11 years. I stay on the property at The Hungry Trout Resort. Rates are great but the rooms are even better.If you're fly fishing in the lake placid or saranac area. You have to stop and see Evan or Matt for the most current equipment,flys, and guides.

The best fly shop in the Adirondacks for sure and probably the best in the state. Want to catch fish on the Ausable? Ask the staff what flies to use and buy them. They will give you the right advice every time. A great selection and great staff.

I have been to a number of fly fishing shops across the country and this is best one I have ever visited. Kaitlin gave me excellent advice, sold me the correct bugs, and even lent me a wading staff for the WB of the Ausable. Thanks to her I caught a nice trout at Quarry Hole. If you are fishing this awesome region, you must stop at the Hungry Trout Fly Shop.
