We visited on a Saturday in early February. We were fitted with traction devices on our boots for safe walking and headed out on the Waterfall Walk. There were so many beautiful views along the way…Whiteface Mountain, 4 Waterfalls, Ice Formations and a Whirlpool. We roasted marshmallows at the fire pit and relaxed for a while before heading in for a hot chocolate at the cafe. We browsed around the gift shop where you can find many souvenir’s from the region. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our time at High Falls Gorge and look forward to returning for snowshoeing. Highly recommend this amazing place in the Adirondack's.

I gave 4 stars only for the fact that the longer hiking trail wasn't open yet. There wasn't enough snow on the ground for it. However, if you want something to do that doesn't take long and has plenty of photo-ops, High Falls Gorge is the place. Go on the website and use the promocode to get your tickets. When you get there, they put these little bungee coils on the bottom of your shoes to help you walk on the icy stairs. Then they send you out on the 1/2 mile loop around the gorge. The pathway is well maintained, but the stairs and landings overlooking the gorge are icy. Be careful. There are so many great photo spots throughout the loop, but I would recommend going at a non-peak time because the landings can only hold one person at a time, and their are multiple narrow flights of stairs. I can see the potential congestion and rush at each landing. The gorge itself is amazing to see. Photos don't do it justice. You really have to experience it in person.

Beautiful walk! Not crowded, was able to take our time and just bask in the details and go at our own pace. The personnel were very professional, accommodating, polite, and respectful. The Cafe meal was very good and good proportions. Plan on eating there.. Enjoyed our day tremendously! Listening to the rushing water, seeing all the ice formations.

Absolutely wonderful experience. I was a little hesitant to visit during the winter when it was snowing but I'm so glad I did. They put some YakTrax on my boots and I was good to go! The staff were all very friendly and the area is very well-maintained.

A great light hike for almost anyone! We went right after a snow fall so we got to see the falls all frozen over. Like others have stated, it is so much more than any words or pictures can depict. Definitely buy online ahead of time, there is a discount for buying them online. With the snow, they had complimentary YakTrax for shoes ready to go with workers to install them. On the weekends, they have marshmallows ready for roasting at the end of the hike!

Great winter outdoor activity for those without a lot of outdoor winter activity experience. Well-maintained pathways, beautiful views. I imagine it wouldn’t be environmentally friendly for them to put down salt to manage all the ice so the yak tracks they provide for your shoes was incredibly helpful! Beware there are a lot of stairs but good solid railings. Leave time to enjoy the campfire and s’mores at the end and the nice gift shop (military discount)

We loved this place. Although it was rainy and a small part of the gorge was closed due to the previous nights downpour, we thought it was safe, and very beautiful. The sun came out for a bit so we were able to take the 1 mile hike. The drive to Wilmington was so beautiful and we took great photos. I highly recommend visiting.

Awesome place to visit if in the ADK area! Went 2nd week of October (10/14/24) Not too many orange colors and the mountains were Past peak but still worth going no matter what time of year. Definitely hike the trails and make your money's worth while your at it. You have to pay to go view the falls so enjoy it all. Take breaks. Breathe in the fresh air, take a minute to sit at all the different chairs around the falls and enjoy the pretty views and sounds. Look for the cute chipmunks! God is Good life is Beautiful Enjoy NY!

Beautiful in the snow! We paid a small fee to rent shoe spikes and walk along the gorge. The trails were closed because there wasn't enough snow to snow shoe but it was still worth it and such an experience!

A very well curated and manicured hike. The admission price was high for what I felt was a less than 30 minute hike with the trail that wraps around the waterfall we took the easy and the hard. To think that I can walk around anywhere Upstate off a trail do a hike for free to pay $18 just seemed a bit overpriced for me. Beautiful place. Made for beginners or families. Done it once will never do it again.

Went there on Oct 14 and there was fall colors, but not at peak. The falls were gorgeous, lot of water. We went there around 9.30am, so not a lot of crowd even though it was a Saturday. But around 10 am, the crowd was bigger. It is a very neat park with clear directions and good walkways. It will take 2-3 hrs most to complete the park that includes the nature trail and the waterfall trail.

Terrible. I almost got a splinter on the brand new, perfectly maintained fences. They forgot to paint all the wood. Only one really nice bench, all the rest were perfectly adequate. Had to walk the whole way, they didn't let us use the golf cart. The front desk was too nice to us and the concessions were closed as we were leaving. The glass floors were not scary or clear enough.Save yourself some thinking time and just go.

Don’t just drive by if you’ve never been! What a beautiful quick hike, can be done in 30 minutes easily. You have to pay an entry fee but it’s worth it, also the gift shop is pretty good and not just filled with junk. If I ever pass through again I’ll be stopping in.

Very cool place to visit. You start off in the gift shop which was pretty big and it had a cafe and restrooms. Once you pay, you cross a bridge outside and you can do a nature hike trail and walk the bridge walk around the waterfalls. I recommend doing both (both are included in the price of admission). I don’t recommend the bridge walk for anyone with a fear of heights, even though it’s not really high up there are times that feel it, especially on the bridges crossing over. There are a lot of areas that require you to go up and down multiple steps, some of which water does blow off the falls at you. But it’s well worth walking down them to see the falls and the areas the water has carved out. The nature walk is really nice and peaceful. Very quiet area and easy to navigate. There are areas that are pretty steep but I would still rate the overall hike as easy.

What a beautiful view of this waterfall. They have stairs and bridges situated where you can have great views of the waterfall. The area is kept nicely and it is not hard to walk the whole area. If you love the outdoors and are in the Adirondack area go and check it out. It take about 35 minutes if you don’t stop to admire and take nice photos. You have to pay to enter the trail $17 p/p adults.

This is definitely a neat roadside and easy hike as long as you handle stairs well. I think it's a little weird to pay nearly $15 a person to check this out but this is a business with a little cafe and gift shop. Definitely some cool views and such. But if you're looking for the cheapest possible vacation and are just slightly a bit more physical, you can get similar views for free up or down the road.

A must see experience if you're in the area! Expect a ticket price ~$16 for one adult and the whole trail can be covered in less than an hour. The trail is considered easy with paved, dirt, and uneven footpaths (there are wheelchair accessible paths). Those afraid of heights may get a little uneasy at the lookout points over the water but it's nothing extreme. You'll get to experience beautiful falls and the rugged nature that the Adirondacks offer. Definitely an incredible sight to see.The parking lot can fill up fast so I would recommend either going early in the morning or later in the day before close.
