Tom and the folks that frequent this shop are some great folks. Never a fan of guides, Tom said to me once "Josh, accelerate your learning curve" and it was some great advice. I was always most welcomed at this shop and I greatly appreciate all the assistance and advice.

Love this place! Anytime I go to see Tom it ends up being a high quality experience. These guys know there stuff, and are willing to spend a little time with you to pick there brains and give you the best guidance on equipment and techniques. I live on the West Branch of the AuSable, and new to the sport, but I feel like Tom and the guys are my X-factor. This is my second year going to the Two Fly and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Recently, my dog broke the tip off my rod and Tom was able to fix it up in no time and got me back in the river! While I was there, I geared up with a new rod and reel which Tom was able to set me up with the perfect set up for the types of fly fishing I’m into. I will be back anytime I need some equipment and or guidance from these very friendly and knowledgeable guys!!

The owner is deeply relaxed, often barefoot, and he has a friendly, knowledgeable quality that goes beyond technical info, into a deep understanding of the human pleasure in fishing. The place radiates the charm of a one man operation that is a guy's dream job. He took perfect care of my friend, who was shopping for her niece. It's a successful business with integrity, so there's no attempt to upsell. Really cool memorable little store.

Used a guide, John, on the Ausable, when we were there and it was a perfect experience. They set my wife up in the right equipment and put us in a place where we could catch some fish under tough conditions. Definitely would recommend you use them for a trip if you are considering it. The tips John provided both about the river and our equipment were invaluable to us. We had a great experience! It was my wife's first fly fishing experience and first trout caught on a fly. She is now hooked!

What a local fly fishing shop is supposed to be. More than adequate selection of quality gear. Obviously a focal gathering point for local fisherman as well as clients for Shop's guiding services. Stopped by with a fly reel needing service, totally enjoyed interacting with owner. My wife made the major purchases. Visit Wilmington and spend some time at the Two Fly Shop.

This shop was open by appointment only. But we had no trouble at all. Very helpful to the beginner. Probably to the pro as well. Answered all of our questions. Very kind to my son who was not very interested but was being patient while we were there. I would highly recommend this shop and only wish I was closer to spend all my fishing money there.

My 11 year old son and I are learning to fly fish, we had gone out three previous times and I had done pretty well on two of them, but he had never caught a fish on the fly rod. He was starting to get really frustrated. Two Fly helped out; they gave him some very good and patient advice, suggesting a setup with a drop, which flies to try, showed him how to tie the drop and explained theory on “being the insect”. That evening, back out on the river, he caught three lovely trout and is over the moon. I suspect that Two Fly just created a lifelong fly fisherman. Thank you for saving the day (and the trip)!

Hand tied flies and Hardy rods and reels. It just doesn't get better than that! Tom is knowledgeable and loves to share his expertise. The guides are led by John Ruff who ties most of the shop's flies. Just a great place.

The Ausable Two Fly is a great shop, owned by the. extremely experienced, helpful and knowledgeable, Tom Conway. John Ruff is great guide. He will take you to terrific fishing spots, teaching you about local lore and fish knowledge. I fished with John 3 times in 2016 and am planning on trips with him in 2017.

Been fishing the West and East branches since the sixties, when my mom had Fran Betters teach me how to fly cast at the tender age of 8. He wasn’t in a wheelchair yet and his was the only fly shop in Wilmington, crass road sign and all. We have come a long way since then, and Tom at Two-Fly has been a leader in the post Betters renaissance of all waters Ausable.This is a well stocked albeit small shop. Tom and associates keep up on stream conditions, hatches and equipment trends. Need a rod tip fixed same week? Unless the fly boxes are empty, shouldn’t be a problem. Waders or a patch, sure. The inside dope on secret locals only fishing spots? Honestly I don’t know, probably not, never asked. Probably should, always wanted to find and fish the legendary left-handed smokeshifter pool up on Copperas Mountain. Maybe you’ll remember to ask, it’s not marked on maps.Every shop has a few things they do well. Two-Fly only has a few they don’t do well, and I am assuming those, because I haven’t found them.

Had a great time with Shawn and Tom as guides in Father's day . Put 3 of us on fish and we had a great time enjoying our bantering. Didn't get to fish ausable but had fun on the Saranac River. Shawn and Tom put up with our request and took it in good spirits. Showed us a good time and locations. They were impressed we could cast and managed our selfs, but managed to tend to all of 3 of of is in party even when one of our party had them laughing so hard he cod tie a knot.Thanks Shawn and Tom , see ya again Tim Chris And Devon

We made arrangements to do catch-and-keep fishing with owner in advance. Night before, guide says "You're taking my bread and butter", and would not guide on catch-and-keep river sections.Really we have no objections if the philosophy of the place is pure catch-and-release, but there was a misrepresentation here. Our pair of fly casters doesn't believe that a fishery under so much pressure that it can't support catch-and-keep should necessarily be fished at all. We don't believe in torturing fish for "sport".Opinions can differ, and that is fine, but we were very upfront that we'd keep the first adult fish we'd catch, and stop after a couple, rather than dragging fish out just to toss back, possibly wounded.An agreement was made, then the guide reneged, leaving us high and dry the day of. Hopefully they will be more honest with others, but a guiding service that can't stand by it's word is problematic at best. Caveat emptor.

Stop in this fly shop today & met with Tom. I explained that I was a beginner in fly fishing, he was cool enough to give me casting tips, fly selection, knots he ties & a low down on the rivers in the area, will be back to see him hopefully soon with a pic of my first catch & release on a fly.
