We so enjoyed our stay at this lovely inn! We were working our way south along Lake Champlain on a multi-day bike trip, and were lucky enough to have booked here for one of our nights on the road. Our room was beautiful and spacious and had a view of the lake. The inn is perfectly located across the road from the lake, with a pretty park in between - we took advantage of the opportunity to get in the water. The only issue we encountered led to probably the best part of our stay - it was a Monday night in July, and there were no restaurants open within walking distance (and we were not up for more biking miles to get dinner!). Without missing a beat, the innkeepers offered to drive us to the grocery store to get food. We ended up having a lovely supper by the windows looking out at the lake - it was perfect. We so appreciated the innkeepers' over the top hospitality! Oh, and the other wonderful thing about the inn is that the first floor lounge doubles as a bookstore - heaven for everyone from an avid reader to the casual browser! Highly recommend, and many thanks to the Inn at Westport!

The Inn was nice as far as the room and amenities. Everything we would have needed was available for us to use. My complaint is that I did not get any sleep due to the constant truck traffic all night long, as the Inn sits literally next to the road. The room was also very bright at night due to the large windows next to the street and the hall lights are left on all night. The rooms are very expensive (over $200) considering that the Inn is located in an area where we couldn’t get gas, shop, and we had to walk 15 mins to a restaurant to eat, which was also well overpriced, so I would suggest eating before you get there. They do offer breakfast for an additional $20 each, but we declined.

We've never stayed at an inn before, and we may be spoiled forever now. This one has a book theme! The lobby is a lending library/antique bookstore. The 9 guest rooms are named after authors (and are all decorated in different styles. ) We are staying in the Tolkien room. Add Alexandra's fresh breakfast on the porch, and our room windows look out over Lake Champlain!

Well maintained old house, in terms of decorations. Very nice library on first floor. House needs some repair to level the floor, to make doors work better, and to seal the window. Old houses always have their charm and characters. Mattress is not very comfortable. Blanket is old. TV is way too small. Owner is nice. Price is not cheap for everything this inn provides. But it’s a tiny town and it’s probably the most decent inn you can find there.

This place is truly a hidden gem. I was doing Locums emergency medicine work upstate and my agency book a room for me to stay here prior to my shifts and during my days off. The owners were kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. They truly went the extra mile to ensure an excellent stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable and was just what I needed to recharge. There is a unique small library/bookstore downstairs that adds a nice little charm to the place. Lake Champlain is walking distance from the inn, there are surrounding nature trails to hike by the stream side. I stayed alone, but I would definitely go back with my family for a nice upstate weekend!

The Inn at Westport is a quaint hideaway gem! Alexandra & Anthony pride themselves in creating an experience that is nothing but relaxing. The rooms are decorated similar to the whimsy of the author the rooms are named by. My husband & I stayed in the J.R.R. Tolkien room. It was decorated as if you would see the artwork and bedding in one of the houses in the Shire. In the breakfast nook, you have a perfect view of Ballard Park as well as the mountains & Lake Champlain.Alexandra loves to talk about the history of the inn, the town, and the area. She truly is knowledgeable, and was nothing but enthusiastic when speaking of the history of: the inn, the town, and the surrounding area. Her love for: books, incantations, & art are all represented in their own unique way. Again, her enthusiasm for what she does is represented throughout the inn. I couldn't help but get excited every time I talked to her.Again, a hidden gem that shouldn't be missed!-Marie Z.

Beautiful interiors! Historic building. Great bed (Beagle Room)! Yummy breakfast. Short walk to the Lake. I love that the rooms are all named after writers and that the downstairs sitting rooms are filled with books. The proprietor is very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

We checked in late. The owner showed us all the rooms available. He even suggested he would not rent a room because a previous had given a review the bed was too soft. Well the couple that was with us took room and had no issues with the bed. It was great stay and the owner and his wife went out of their way to make it great. Thanks so much we hope to be back soon.

Cozy, cute, and even quaint are good words for this Inn. When we got here, the gentleman at the front desk was incredibly helpful, friendly, and pleasant. The room was exactly as promised, the air conditioner was quite welcome, and the modern bathroom was a great surprise for the older building. Overall I enjoyed it, and if you visit, I highly recommend looking through their awesome book store

We had the best stay in Westport here. Coming from NYC we wanted a quiet, relaxing weekend and this is exactly what we found at the Inn. Anthony and his wife couldn't have been nicer and friendlier, the room (Oscar Wilde room) was incredible with a great view on the lake, it was very big and very clean. The breakfast was delicious as well, served in a very nice area. Thank you for this wonderful stay!

It's quaint, nothing fancy but very well kept. The room is large and bright, the furnishings are lovely. This being said the water pressure is low, and everything is up a flight of stairs. It is what you might think of when you think 'old fashioned inn'. I do feel it's necessary to add they have a nice bookstore-something that is sadly rare these days. This is worth stopping into if you are in the area!

This Inn has everything a die-hard romantic (or even someone with no romantic inclinations) could ever want. It was clean, quiet, cozy, and comfortable. Extra bonus for book-lovers with a bookstore on the first floor and rooms named after authors. The staff is friendly and as hands-on or off as you prefer. Our only concern was the window air conditioner in our room (#10) was working so hard (lots of noises) to keep up (note: we like to sleep at around 68 degrees, so it's probably fine for others). We can't speak for the breakfast as we chose not to eat there, only because we wanted to get on the road and the menu did not include bacon or sausage, but our impression is that it would have been good. We sincerely hope that we can come back. Great place!

We had a nice breakfast in the inn. The Alphonse Mucha art on the walls, lake view and nice book store provide amazing atmosphere. The food and service were good. Nice selection of tea. No AC. Cash only. They serve breakfast until 10 sat-sun.

Great place to stay as I was en route north to Montreal. Wonderful bookstore and the gentleman co-owner and I had a great conversation about our favorite literary fiction- Proust, Eliot, Hardy, etc. Room was clean and comfortable; breakfast was tasty and a good deal. If I'm ever in this region again I would certainly come back.

This was my 4th or 5th stay at The Inn in Westport. Never disappoints! The inn is immaculate, with spacious rooms and very comfortable furnishings. The Oscar Wilde suite is my favorite, with soaring ceilings, a living area and fabulous king-sized bed.Anthony, the proprietor is very friendly and professional. Such a unique choice to cookie-cutter hotel/motels.

VERY cute, romantic, and accomodating literary-themed inn as my MFA partner and I were driving from Albany to Vermont. We accidentally paid for 2 rooms online, but the concierge (Seth? Jeff? Sean? I dont remember his name) was very helpful and cancelled one of the rooms with no problem. The mini bar is cash only, so come prepared for that. We stayed in the Poe room, which looked like to us more of an Oscar Wilde room, so I'm really curious to see what the Oscar Wilde room looks like. The bed wasn't super comfy and the shower was really small, but the Poe room was the cheapest room in the inn, so I'm sure the other rooms are more comfortable. I will definitely stay again if I find myself in the area again.

Great Hotel/Inn. Very comfortable, just like being in a friend's home. The owners make you feel just like family. Great place to stay and just relax or visit the local area from Ticonderoga to Lake Placid. Can't wait to come back and enot another outstanding stay. This is definitely a keeper.

This 5-star rating for The Inn in Westport is based on value... While the Inn isn't a "5-star resort" - you certainly get your money's worth, and then some. The Inn is a very old building that has been restored very well. The owners are exceptionally friendly & helpful. The room rates were very reasonable for a one night stay during the heavy tourist season (many of the hotels/motels/B&Bs on the lake require multi-day stays). There are reasonable views of the lake across Main Street... although in the summer, with the trees in the park across the street leaved out, you can't see the whole Lake. For dinner there are several options; we chose to walk the one block down the (steep) hill to the marina and ate at The Galley Restaurant & Bar. Good food & great views, as you'd expect of a place literally sitting on the water. The throughly enjoyable breakfast at The Inn is more along the continental variety, so if you're looking for eggs & bacon you'll need to walk across the street to the cafe.

Always a beautiful stay at this charming bed and breakfast in rural New York. The staff is extremely helpful and goes the extra mile. The rooms are quaint, comfortable and the accommodations nice. I highly recommend this stay if you're visiting the Lake Champlain area.

Absolutely beautiful and the area is amazing. Be warned there's not that many restaurants if you get there late so pack some snacks or what not or just plan your arrival time we'll. But the inn itself was clean, service was friendly, and we really enjoyed our stay. Plus the area is gorgeous.

We were pleasantly surprised by this Days inn. The room was small yet clean, the next was comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The front desk clerk, Diana, went above and beyond in going us at check in. I recommend this hotel.

Very cute boutique inn. Each room is named after a famous writer and the doors are still locked with traditional keys. Bed was a little soft but some people like that. Very friendly staff

Excellent hotel. The proprietor took extra care to ensure I knew of the amenities the inn provides, and also that I knew the essentials regarding the town (places to eat, things to do, etc). I happened upon the inn by chance, but my next visit will be on purpose.
