We had a great time on the children's tour. Our guide was excellent. The tour is long enough to see and enjoy all the animals, but short enough to not exceed a child's attention span. You can tell they put this program together with a lot of thought and attention to detail. Although we are not vegans, this did open our eyes more to factory farming.

Beautiful and inspiring. We came back with our young son after many years. The child tour was perfect, compassionate, fun and inspiring without being too heavy for a child. The grounds are beautiful and my heart always opens up with joy when I see how well these animals are living. Definitely one of my favorite animal sanctuaries I’ve ever visited!

Our tour guide was Andrew and he was very knowledgeable and engaging. We had a mix of both vegan and non vegan people on our private tour and everyone really enjoyed their experience. The animals are well cared for and this truly is their sanctuary. Such a beautiful place for the animals 💚

Such a wonderful, peaceful, amazing place. We stayed here in the deluxe cabin and it was very spacious and comfortable. The daily tour is a great way to start the morning and meet the residents. Love the way farm sanctuary helps spread the message and educate people about the horrors of factory farming. Go vegan for the animals!

We visited and took the guided tour. It’s such a moving and beautiful experience to see these wonderful animals in a happy and safe environment. They’re clearly very grateful and love human interaction. The stories of the animals we met brought a tear to my eye. These sweet, gentle souls have so much to give to us. I can’t wait to come back for a longer stay next time. God bless the work being done at this place.

It’s a really cool place to see animals up close. It’s not everyday you get to stand by and even pet cows, pigs, goats. They have chickens and ducks and geese as well but they where not out. It’s a very informative place. For the tour you start out in the barn up top where you check in and watch a video presentation. Then your guide will talk about some safety facts and then you’ll head out to see the animals. There’s lots to learn about these animals here and the staff is all very knowledgeable In the subjects. There’s also a bed and breakfast on the property as well as a cool gift shop. I’d highly recommend checking this place out and see how these animals live free and happy lives!

Phenomenal. Their respect for the animals was a great example for my 2-year old. Seeing the personalities of animals we otherwise think of as simple or stupid is life-changing. I can't wait to go back and hope to volunteer some time.Everyone was friendly, respectful of sensitive material, and helpful. Great gift shop to support the cause, too.

This was our second time touring Farm Sanctuary, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The countryside is beautiful, the guides are friendly and knowledgeable, the animals are friendly and well cared for. If you’ve ever wanted to scritch a giant sleeping pig’s belly and have it stick out its feet like a cat enjoying belly rubs, this is the place for you.

The tour was very interesting, informative, and beautiful. Wear hiking boots if you have them as the ground is uneven. All the staff were very knowledgeable and nice. There is a bathroom on the property before the tour. Lots of options at the gift shop ranging from shirts to cookbooks to vegan snacks to buy for the ride home. Expect to spend about an hour here.

There's something magical about this beautiful place, a monument to compassion, a testament to what humans can be at our best while also recognizing the tragic origins of the rescued animals and the tens of millions that suffer and die every year, The beauty of the surroundings here is itself heartwarming, as is, ironically, the bucolic farm that harkens back to kinder days of farming, pre-factory farms, extrapolated to what would happen if we cared for these awesome creatures but didn't end up killing them. My daughter has loved this place and the animals since she was two years old. The tours are always good, informative and touching and not at all preachy. People are gently welcomed to discover their own compassion, and it ain't hard to do! If you get the chance to stay at the cabins or tiny houses, you're in for a treat. The staff is really friendly and helpful. There's a gift shop where you can purchase cookbooks, attire, some vegan grocery items, and other books.

My niece and I went for the first time today. It’s right in our back yard, and have never managed to get there. The place is everything I thought it would be, and more! It’s a truly magical, peaceful place with nothing but caring and giving people working there. Being a vegetarian for over 30 years, I learned the horrors of slaughter houses and stockyards and chicken farms. They show you first hand the horrors that happen, and hopefully makes you think about animal agriculture..I can’t thank these people enough for the selfless and caring work they do to care for and love all of the animals there. I will definitely be going back, and also becoming a member!!!It’s a must see for kids and all animal lovers!!♥️

What a super cool Place!! We loved our trip here and our tour guide (I think her name was Alison). This is absolutely a must see when in the Seneca lake area. You get a full hands on experience with the sweet animals here. Their gift shop has so many cute items! They have cute tiny homes and cabins on site you can rent. We didn’t but we did get to see them from the outside. The area is beautiful. The tour guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. While this is a sanctuary, and they do discuss things about animal cruelty in the meat industry, it did not feel pushy or uncomfortable. They were very open minded and sweet. They were not judgmental in any way. We felt very welcomed and left learning more about the farm industry from a different perspective. We will definitely be back!!

I've been a donor to the animals at this amazing facility for a few years. I just completed my first visit and tour and was so touched and IMPRESSED by the kindness of the staff, the obvious contentment and happiness of the animals, the beauty of the Watkins Glen location (at least, to the humans) and the sensitivity to the animals' needs for space and personalities. The tour vindicated the claim that farm animals are each as unique as individual human beings. The opportunities for involvement range from low-key to regular, and there are numerous ways to support the animals in the care of this sanctuary. I can't stop thinking about these beautiful and obviously happy animals. They truly are our fellow travelers through this life.

This was an incredible experience. Our guide, Andrew was kind, knowledgeable and reassuring when visiting all the different barns ( he simply is great!). He helped me coordinate our tour months prior to our visit and he was there to meet and guide us upon arrival. At the farm you get the true sense of their mission and hard work by how they care for the animals and how they extend beyond their farm in placing other animals that need safety. All the staff we came across during our visit were helpful, kind and professional. Their educational style is one that opens your mind and hearts to understand the animals. You get the incredible opportunity to be close to the animals, know their names and stories.

I visited this farm sanctuary at Watkins Glen location with my whole family (two teens) drove from Toronto Canada, in the hope of creating awareness about animal agriculture abuse and impact. When we left the sanctuary after our visit I asked the kids what they would like to have for have for lunch, one said ‘steak’ and another said chicken! I was horrified, that this visit had no effect on my kids.I appreciate the hard work and the good intention of the farm sanctuary, but I doubt if it has the intended effect on the public. It seemed to me like a petting zoo for large animals. On the other hand, if I had taken my family to an animal agriculture industry such as a poultry farm or a meat producing farm they would have become vegan by now.We got to meet many animals and interact with them. The farm is clean and tailored for visitors. I wish they had govt support.I wish the farm sanctuary provided more visual and verbal information about the animal abuse in the meat production industry to drive home the point! I would like them to be more vocal and visual.Nevertheless, I still liked our visit. I plan to go there again and see more of such places . When we met the animals here, we got the feeling that these rescued animals are pampered. When these animals die they are buried in a grave right there. This is the only place (and other such sanctuaries) where animals can live their whole life and die naturally (not at the hands of humans).

Visited Farm Sanctuary for the 2nd time, and really enjoyed it. Alice did a spectacular tour, but of course the animals were the real stars. Thanks for the work you do and letting us visit!

Great place, very educationalOnly reason. For 4 star is everything inthe visitor center is so unbelievablly expensive.I understand making But a sanctuary is to provide safety and Ani al freedom for the goodofthat, not to shank the community for money.Noteworthy details: See attached

We went on the one hour tour and absolutely loved it. The grounds are beautiful, staff is friendly and we learned a lot about the life of animals on factory farms, how they are living at the sanctuary now , and we even got to pet some of them. Great for both adults and children. I hope to go back.

Farm Sanctuary is amazing! The tour was so informative and the rescue stories were incredible, though nothing beat the fabulous personalities of the animals we met. We will definitely be returning to spend more time with our favorite animals. Hopefully, the avian flu will pass soon and next time we can meet the birds too. Farm Sanctuary does such inspirational work. Anyone who loves animals, or is thinking of going vegan, should definitely visit.

Recently visited with our family ranging from grandparents to our young children (ages 3-9). We were struck by the wonderful care the animals receive and how amazing it is to interact with them. There were a few concerns however...Our tour guide did a wonderful job of talking about the animals and knowing each of them well however at times her graphic descriptions of the meat industry were very upsetting to our children. While I completely understand the mission of the farm there may have been more age appropriate ways of approaching the topic when there are young children in the group or at least providing some warning so their parents could help them make the choice to step away or not.The other issue I felt was glaring and disturbing was that while simultaneously discussing the food deserts and severe inequities in healthy, safe and afford food in our country, the farm sanctuary composts the eggs the rescued chickens produce. I understand the desire to not encourage the consumption of animal products but to essentially throw away eggs that could be used to feed those who do not have access to food feels counterproductive. You don't want to perpetuate the unsafe, inhumane practices in the food industry but will instead dispose of food that the chickens will lay no matter what - I feel that it actually does the opposite and people have to purchase " cheap" less healthy more processed foods because they do not have access to anything else.I appreciate strong conviction and belief in something but there is a bigger picture and as history has taught us we cannot go to extremes. While I hope I don't discourage you from visiting this place and the wonderful and special animals that live there. I encourage you to look at the bigger picture and perhaps a middle ground.

It was an amazing experience to share with our grandchildren, we all learned so much it was quite educational. Its lovely to see the animals living in such peace and tranquility in a beautiful atmosphere. At Farm Sanctuary wonderful things are happening for these beautiful farm animals and the staff is incredible. If you have a chance to go I highly recommend it.

I've wanted to visit Farm Sanctuary since I began me journey as a vegan 11 years ago. I am so glad I was finally able to make it there. Hearing their story and meeting the residents was wonderful and touching, they've truly created a model for a better way to live. Whether one is vegan or not they have something to offer that can help mend the rift in our hearts caused by ignoring the horrors of factory farms.

We had a great tour of the Farm Sanctuary. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the farm history and animals and quickly answered all questions. We met some of the cows, sheep, goats, and pigs and our kids (12 and 9) really enjoyed meeting and petting many of them. The fact that it all started selling vegan hot dogs at Grateful Dead concerts was awesome enough but everything they're doing at the farm is quite impressive.

We visited the Farm Sanctuary for the very first time & had a wonderful time. My husband and I attended with our 3.5 year old and 1 year old. We arrived a bit early and hung out in the visitor barn, browsed the gift shop, and read the educational materials. The tour began in the visitor barn with a short video about what the sanctuary does & some of the history of its founding. Then, we spent time with the cows, sheep, goats, and pigs, learning their stories & hearing about what their lives are like in a factory farm environment. It was pouring rain, but that didn’t stop our tour guide from taking us on a wonderful tour or the animals from sharing their love! I especially enjoyed the sheep & bonded with two of them. One kept placing their head on my shoulder as if to give me a hug. They are so precious and wonderful. Our children know the truth about factory farming conditions, and have watched the videos shown at the beginning of the tour many times prior to our visit (you can find it on YouTube - The power of sanctuary along with many wonderful videos about the animals!). I do understand that there are things in the video that are difficult to see and hear, especially for those choosing to consume animals & animal byproducts. Those attending with younger children may wish view the video & have some of these conversations before visiting. 😊 We are thankful for all the Farm Sanctuary is doing to educate about and advocate for animals.
