Michael is extremely knowledgeable and helped me from start to finish when I set up my first aquarium. I enjoyed his work so much that I contacted him to set one up in my office as well. His prices are better than anyone else in the area and his service was personalized to what our capabilities were. Mike is a great guy and very knowledgeable. The difference between him and the couple other places in the Hudson valley where you can get saltwater supplies is that he actually cares. He’ll take the time to help get to the bottom of a problem even in a tank he didn’t help design and then check up with a simple text and make sure everything is all good a couple days later. Same can be said for coral or fish he sells especially to a concerned nervous newcomer to the hobby like myself. I wouldn’t think of buying my saltwater needs anywhere else.

I reached out to Michael Cherubini at HVFR because I wanted to build a custom tank with proper equipment. He completed my initial install and helped maintain the tank for about a year. I had an algae problem from the start which he never got under control. When I was moving, Michael thought it was the perfect opportunity to take the entire set up to his shop and get the algae under control. The day he was supposed to move the tank, his van broke down (stuff happens, no big deal, right?) but this meant he did not move my tank and only took my fish and coral. He had to dip everything in copper so it wouldn’t damage his shop system. A couple of days later he picked up the tank, lighting, sump, etc. He later informed me all of my fish and coral had died from the dipping process and he would store the tank until I was settled in the new home. Three months later, I asked for the tank and equipment to be reinstalled. It’s now been several months and I’m still asking for my tank, lighting, pumps, etc. I’m out thousands of dollars and he will not return a call. Now because of his lack of responsiveness, I’m writing reviews, filing a police report, and notifying the BBB-

Hudson Valley Fish-N-Reef is by far the best saltwater service and provider for saltwater organisms in the tri-state area. HVFR offers a diverse array of saltwater organisms at his local shop in Pine Bush, as Mike holds all live import animal licenses which allows him to carry every type of coral, invertebrates, big and small fish . At the shop there is a separate coral room that is a MUST to see and purchase from. Most importantly , Mike is beyond knowledgeable in his trade. He can answer every question and takes the time to educate you about your tank. For me, this has been the most instrumental part in keeping my salt water tank prospering. If you’re interested in setting up a small or large tank or need someone to service your tank then Mike is your guy to do it!!

Not a huge selection yet. He said he's only been open like 2 weeks but the quality looks phenomenal! Such bright healthy colors of coral/annenome. Really sweet guy, if I ever decided to start up a reef tank, this is the place I would buy from!

Mike is a very stand up guy and has helped me tremendously. The education he has tought me and helped me understand with saltwater reef keeping is a benefit to me, my family, and my reef. He isn't like pet stores that just want to sell you anything you want but cares for the well being of any animal you place into your aquarium. He will tell you the truth even if you don't want to hear it ( such as slllloowww down lol) he can get you anything you want from fish to corals which I highly suggest for everyone to check out his shop. I HIGHLY suggest him and his business to ANYONE that is interested in the hobby.
