We visited the park, but did not stay at the Inn. We visited this early 1900’s hotel that had charm and nostalgia. The grounds and hotel are beautifully kept, with lots to do year round for the family. Views of the nearby lake, Hudson River and surrounding mountains are amazing. The is a zoo on the property which has local animals and is well kept. Lots of history to the area from the revolutionary war. A must visit place.

We loved our stay at the Inn. We were close to everything. The kids had a great time at the park and zoo. We enjoyed lounging on the couches in the lobby. The cafe was good for breakfast and hanging out. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. Everyone who helped us at the Inn and restaurant were extremely welcoming, kind, and efficient. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable.

We stayed at the Lodge instead of the main Inn due to availability and honestly, we had a hell of a view from our bedroom window (see pictures taken at 8am). The lodge has a beautiful wood fireplace where guests can make their own fire also. All of the front desk was incredibly helpful with booking and recommendations for excellent hiking. If you’re new to this area, there are amazing hiking trails all over with amazing views.Lastly, the 1914 restaurant has a good chef. I had the pan seared branzino last night and it was very good and affordable (especially since they sometimes give vouchers for food and beverage) beautiful, huge fireplace … dimmed ambiance.A quiet, cozy stay in the mountains !

I never stayed in a room but I just realized they have a bar and restaurant here. I always came to bear mountain for hikes but now I know I can also stop here for a beer or food. The bear at the bar was excellent and the food was good but portions were tiny and not worth the cost. I'd get better value in Manhattan for the prices they charge here so that was disappointing. In general this whole area has so much potential to be truly epic as one of the best places to go out of the city with what they can offer and they can attract so much more people from the city if they make changes and open the hiking trails already! Either they can be a hot spot and make a lot of money or keep it chill so it doesn't get to populated

We live in the city and wanted to get away for a weekend, and Bear Mountain was perfect! We stayed in the Cottages and it was a very simple room, but still perfect for coming back to at relaxing. We don’t drive (we got an Uber in) but there was still a lot to do and walk to without having to get in a car. The restaurant and cafe were both amazing. My only gripe was that you have to check in at only one of the three hotel/type and we got very turned around upon first arriving. But the cottages are so close to the main building that it was easy to get to still got to see the beautiful views!Walkability: Within an easy walk from the main building and cottages, so long as you follow the map, there is a little zoo full of local animals and mini museums, the gift shop, a pool and hiking trails!

The Bear Mountain Inn exceeded our expectations (and we are snobs!). We came up from our home in Manhattan for a mini "babymoon" trip for 2 nights in the winter season. Shortly after check-in, I had a really great prenatal massage at the spa. The ambience in the room was so relaxing, and the masseuse was friendly and very skilled. Our room was on the same floor, which was nice, and it was one of the most spacious king bedrooms I've ever been in. They provided bottled water free of charge. We had a dinner reservation at the restaurant and again, it exceeded our expectations, even though it was totally empty (we were there on a Thursday night for a 7:30PM dinner). The fireplace was so cozy and the waitstaff was excellent. The meal was very well-paced and we did not feel rushed at all; we did two courses and sat for almost 2 hours, which was great. The next morning, we used vouchers for breakfast at the Hiker's Cafe, which was SO much food for the money. The bacon egg and cheese bagels were better than we expected; my husband had one both mornings of our stay. After breakfast we went for a long walk around the lake, which is paved, which I appreciated being pregnant. The zoo was another unexpected surprise: all of the animals were out and front & center! We went both mornings of our stay because they were so visible and were awesome to see. The little museum areas were cool also, quite the step back in time. The carousel building had a big fireplace with seating that was a cozy place to warm up on our walk. The rest of the grounds and amenities were all incredibly well-maintained and had so much character. I'm not sure what I initially expected--maybe a little dated, or questionably clean, or mediocre food/spa/amenities--but I was wrong, and my expectations were exceeded the entire stay. We will definitely be back and kept commenting on what a good family stay this will be after our baby is born.

We visited family in Stony Point nearby for Christmas eve and Christmas day. The Inn is very convenient for us and we liked our room very much. We will stay again when we visit family. We have stayed at Overlook Lodge but the Inns rooms are much more updated and pleasant. The bedding at the Inn was wonderful and we appreciated plentiful and soft linens. The Inn was quiet and we enjoyed our stay. We'll be back.

We photographed an October wedding at Bear Mountain Inn. It was such a wonderful venue surrounded by endless natural beauty. We just loved how the rustic stone building looked among the changing leaves. Plus, the venue overlooks Hessian Lake, which is surrounded by rolling hills filled with Fall colors. The couple loved the location so much, we actually took a short ride to Bear Mountain Summit for their first look and circled back to the Inn for some more photos after.

I was there a couple of nights for a large wedding 125 people. The room lighting was low. The rooms could use a wall safe for valuables. Some guests stayed in the cabins which they described as old and small. Breakfast food options were limited. Overall it was nice but overpriced. The salon was great and the hair/makeup for the wedding party was great but I will not stay there again.

Had our son's wedding here November 5 and lucked out with great weather. Beautiful venue with amazing staff... from the catering staff to the servers everyone was cordial, efficient and a pleasure to work with. When brunch the following day had over 80 people show up when we expected 55, the staff was stellar in bringing out additional tables and always keeping the food trays stock... Five stars for sure!Rooms: Spacious and beautiful... lot's of wood!

My family and I attended the Breakfast with Santa earlier this month. We knew from previous experience that it would be wonderful, but the Santa this year went above and beyond all expectations. We were flying to a family funeral later in the day, and when Santa found out, he gave my daughter a special bell to put on our Christmas tree to remember her Popo and so that he will always be with us in this season. And he gave us all heartfelt condolences and hugs. He truly brought the love and joy of the season to a family that was grieving and in need of it. I cannot express how much we needed this at this moment, and I cannot recommend this experience enough <3Best. Santa. Ever.

We visited Bear Mountain Inn for a wedding last weekend and had a wonderful stay! The inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the facilities were great for the wedding. We stayed at the Beaver lodge which was a short walk or drive from the main inn.Where Bear Mountain really shines is the service. Malcolm in particular was so helpful during our entire stay! First he saved the day when we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room (with our car keys and shoes inside) - he immediately drove over to our lodge to help us get back in. And then during the wedding he shuttled us and the other guests back and forth from the lodges to the wedding (even when we just needed to change our shoes during the reception). Malcolm really made the stay exceptional and we would love to come back!Nearby activities: West Point is a short drive up the road and has a beautiful campus. You’ll have to stop at the welcome center and do a quick security clearance before you can go on campus but it’s worth a visit. The cadet chapel is absolutely beautiful.

Had a good time at Bear Mountain Inn, and brought the pup. Visited at the time the trails were closed, but found plenty of other options nearby. Has a nice little loop around their lake, and we did the drive up to Perkins Tower which gives you a distant city view! Visited some nearby towns too.We were in Overlook Lodge - rooms are pretty nice. Will, Gabe, and cleaning staff were very kind. The person at the front desk upon checking out was rude and a bit argumentative. The spa was okay, everyone there was nice though, and still relaxing!Would recommend for a nice hiking getaway, or if you need to be close to West Point.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Bear Mountain Inn, and I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience it was. This beautiful inn is a hidden gem nestled in a picturesque natural setting that truly allows you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The first thing that struck me about Bear Mountain Inn was its stunning location. Surrounded by the tranquil beauty of nature, with breathtaking mountain views and serene forests, it's a perfect retreat for those seeking a peaceful getaway. The inn is situated in a state park, and the proximity to hiking trails and outdoor activities makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The accommodations at Bear Mountain Inn are both comfortable and charming. My room was spacious, well-appointed, and impeccably clean. The rustic decor and cozy furnishings added to the overall ambiance, creating a welcoming and cozy atmosphere that was perfect for relaxation. The dining experience at Bear Mountain Inn was nothing short of exceptional. The on-site restaurant served delectable dishes with a focus on locally-sourced ingredients. The menu offered a range of culinary delights, and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. The service was attentive and friendly, which made every meal a pleasure. One of the highlights of my stay was the recreational opportunities. Bear Mountain Inn offers a variety of activities, from hiking and biking to golf and tennis. It's a place where you can be as active or as relaxed as you desire. The nearby Bear Mountain State Park provided me with endless opportunities for exploration and outdoor adventure.

I booked the staycation room for a solo 4-day bday trip. The way the staff handles issues is what separates them from the rest. I've traveled extensively and this is such a rewarding space (and only an hour away from NYC!) I'd like to name drop - Darrin, William and Stephanie (great front desk staff) Malcolm (absolutely delightful driver) Mercedes (great server) and Lineole (amazing all around) this is definitely a cut way way above the rest. I will be back again and again.Rooms: super clean, option to tip housekeeper a huge plusNearby activities: Plenty of trails to hike, by uber or driving.Safety: Super safe, just watch out for bears :)
