The vibes are strong!!! Darlings is a unique spot with really fun decor and style. They have a variety of seating across the two interior areas (restaurant and bar) as well as outdoor seating. We came for lunch, but I’d love to come back for a cocktail. The deviled eggs were fabulous. My veggie burger was good, though a little on the oily side. I liked that it was house made. My husband raved about his burger. The seasoned fries were 10/10.Their menu is fun and eclectic with great vegetarian options available. Looking forward to coming back!

What a place! We came here while we were in town for the weekend and we made sure we found a way to fit a second visit in. We had our two dogs with us and their back eating area is perfect for them. The waitress was very kind and extremely attentive. She lit a fire for us and brought water for the dogs.I probably said at least 100x over the weekend that my dinner was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I got the burnt ends. Wow. I gave my mother in law a bite (she ordered the fried chicken) and she is one of the main reasons that we went back a second time… so she could order it. The fried chicken was also very good, fyi.We went back without our dogs and the inside is so dreamy and honestly *such a vibe*I’ll cut this short because at this point don’t waste anymore time reading and just go. But, second night - also amazing. The entire staff is great. Bring your kids, bring your dogs. It’s a great place for honestly anyone.Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options and even meat alternative options. Great place for a variety of options.Dietary restrictions: Several gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options. Substitutions for dietary restrictions are also available to allow for more options.Parking: Plenty of parking to the right and left of the restaurant. Free lot. Graveled.Kid-friendliness: Back area that is majorly fenced in with lots of grass, cornhole, fire pits (with seating around them). Potentially other games there as well sometimes. Great area for kids especially if you want to bring outdoor toys to keep them occupied. Inside is great too! Couch seating which is super comfortable.

Drinks are superb, Luke, I believe that’s the male bartenders name is awesome and super friendly. This was myfifth time there and the food is decent. I will definitely stick with the potato skins and the catfish. If you’re open to constructive criticism, some of your dishes could do with a lot less salt Oh and the fried chicken is still an issue. That being said -it is a fun place, cool atmosphere and great vibes 😄

Wow, the food is SO amazing. We came at a quiet time so there were only a couple people in but the atmosphere was so perfect, very aesthetic with spacious seating areas, small lamps on each table, music just loud enough to add to the atmosphere but not too loud you're shouting to talk to your tablemates. All the food we had was absolutely fantastic and the drinks were great too. Would definitely recommend and come back!

What a find! We were desperately searching for a place open at 8:45 on a Sunday night while driving back to the City from the Catskills. It was dark, and driving up to this place we had very low expectations, wondering whether it was the right decision to venture so far off the beaten path home...and boy am I happy that we did.Darlings is an absolute charm of a restaurant. The food was fantastic, with a well designed menu and options catering perfectly to those who find upstate can be a bit of a food desert. But the vibes of this place are such a selling point. Cozy, dimly lit, esoteric and kitschy; I'd frequent this place in the City and now mean to stop by as often as I am upstate and travelling back home on a Sunday. Our server was delightful and enthusiastic, and for the few tables still filled at our late hour it seemed like we luckily stumbled upon a secret place for those in the know. I can't wait to come back and will make it a point to bring friends & relatives. Thanks for keeping the kitchen open for us!

Outdoor dining area is really nice, plenty of space and seating, lovely atmosphere in the evening. The hush puppies and pimento dip were a hit! But man! It kind of feels like everything is fried, even if it doesn’t need to be. It’s tough to try more than one menu item when there’s little reprieve from oil. I don’t think the pimento dip needs deep fried saltines- just give me a cracker or just vegetables. We’ve been twice and I just think the main event (fried chicken, fish, and shrooms) just doesn’t land perfectly. Most items were over fried for our taste (quite dark) and the texture of the fry is kind of tough and over done. The chicken ended up a bit dry which is kinda crazy when it’s so oily! The cocktails were all SUPER delicious. The service was pretty good, even though it was very slow.In short, I’m not sure the menu is balanced yet- too heavy on all sides and I’d love to see more variety from the fried entrees- maybe a pot pie or a chili- something like that.

This is my first review of anything and this has been my favorite restaurant for a year or more. Tonight the kale salad I get sometimes had a new but good recipe. It was, however, about half the size it used to be. This is a $17 salad ...as much as the entrees, and was the size of a small salad plate. It's just kale dressing, some chickpeas and other minor ingredients. Things have changed and not in a good way. My waitress acted like it was a hassle to serve me, too, which was also a bummer. Don't want to come back any more

This place is cool. Went on a Friday night for an early dinner at like 530. By the time we left a musician was setting up and the place was full. Super cool vibe and friendly staff. Large bar area. We had the burnt ends and fried chicken. Lots of rich southern style options but also vegan and vegetarian options. Will definitely be going back a bunch.Kid-friendliness: They had some toys for the kiddos (puzzles, blocks) so very welcoming for families, but no kid menu or anything that our frustrating little eaters would have wanted.

The vibe of this place is great, staff was really friendly and food was great. I give this place a lower review because of how disorganized the servers were. We had a large group, and when the apps finally came out, everything was messed up. Items were missing and it was just chaos with the waitress calling out who got what. Just seemed very unprofessional and was annoying to repeat multiple times what were missing. Then the entrées came out and were ice cold. We waited a long time for this food and for it to be cold was beyond disappointing.I got the fried green tomatoes with burrata, it was delicious. Also, we highly recommend the banana pudding. We went back the next day to get it to go.I want to rate highly, it is a beautiful spot and the outside area looked really nice.

We visited for the first time for dinner and glad we did! The space is cozy (despite it actually being quite spacious), relaxed, quirky and fun. The menu has several veg options and the drink list a very tasty non-alcoholic IPA for all those practicing drynuary (like us). The fries were too salty but otherwise well made. We would gladly return.

Fantastic food & cocktails! We enjoyed the shrimp skewers, veggie burger, both salads and regular burger. Everything was delicious! The decor is really cool and the outside area looks like it would be great in the warmer weather. This is one of our new favorite spots in the new Paltz area! Worth checking out, we will be back! P.S you must try the banana pudding it is the best!! (Better than magnolias in nyc)

Our first time here. Great food, great atmosphere. We chose to sit outside in the courtyard. Ordered drinks off the specials menu. Ordered the beet pickled deviled eggs, and chicken sandwich. All was delish! Highly recommend

A true diamond of a bar, if you’re out this direction and want great food and drink, head here. I cannot recommend this place enough! Great atmosphere, fantastic drinks, and awesome food. They also have a projector to catch games, just ask and they’ll put it up!Vegetarian options: Great and varied amount of vegan and vegetarian options, everything tasted great. Best place in the area in my opinion.

Wonderful food and service. Brilliant menu design. To be honest, this is the kind of small town, roadside place I've learned to never bother with. We were staying nearby, peeked at the menu, and we were surprised. The menu is a testament to smart, inclusive food design. It is simple. A lot seems built around the fried main dishes (chicken, catfish, oyster mushrooms). But making nearly all the sides vegan really makes this work. There are not many menu options, but plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free paths to a meal. We split the large oyster mushroom dinner (with 3 sides), then split a banoffee pie that was also vegan and gluten free. Everything was excellent. We would eat here again (and certainly will if we come back through this area). The vibe was strange, but in a good way. It sort of felt like an NYC interior decorator got ahold of a run down fish shack and picked up a bunch of mid-century furnishings from an antique store. The design was clearly intentional, but felt inviting and intimate.

I have driven past this location since I was a kid. The new owners pulled me in after a friend of mine told me how much they loved it.Definitely get a special cocktail!I don’t remember what drink I had but it was so good I had three! The fried chicken sandwich was enough for two meals. Yum!!I’ll be back soon.

My husband and I love Darlings. We both really appreciate that they offer vegan options for the two of us.My favorite menu items are the veggie burger and the mushroom sloppy joe. My husband really enjoyed their oyster fried chicken. The salty/dusted fries are super YUM. Also, they have the best collard kale ever!!!!!We like to go when we can sit outside and listen to the local DJ hosts. They’re all great, but our favorite is DJ Flowers. We will definitely be back for more delicious food.

Had lunch today with some friends, and was very excited when I saw the menu. Great variety of food including vegetarian and some vegan options. The fried chicken and waffles and Mac and cheese were excellent, and there was a great selection of beer on tap and some nice cocktails. We had lunch on the covered Deck and I would definitely come back to check out the beer garden area.
