I rarely write reviews, and when I do, they are glowing.I do not believe in propagating negativity. However, I feel moved to write this one. After completing the online form to expedite my dog’s grooming session, including health-related information, and then receiving the confirmation that our appointment was confirmed (2x), I made the 35-minute drive to Syracuse. Upon arriving, I was told by the manager, my dog would have to be rescheduled due to his heart murmur. When I questioned why they would not have let me know before my 35-minute drive, I was then told their software system does not let them see the very information they request owners to complete in order to process the dog's appointment!In addition, I was told that unless I completed the appointment online, my dogs concern would not be flagged...Having not only made the online appointment, but received a confirmation of the very same appointment, makes no sense to me. I was also told that the system was being "upgraded" as yet another reason my circumstance was not addressed ahead of time. Finally, after a very mechanically delivered "sorry" about the situation, I was not offered a courtesy of any kind for the inconvenience and lack of customer care. We are returning customers with at least a 7-year history of using this location.Again, I believe in acknowledging that people are doing their best and am both tolerant and forgiving. However, as someone who teaches customer service and leadership, I can only say that I am disappointed in PetSmart on both counts. We will not be using this service again.

got a hamster from here, the place was located in a not. very noticeable/nice place but overall it wasn’t bad. i forgot who we worked with but i’m pretty sure she was one of the managers. my hamster loves me and seems to have no health issues. i recommend going here! the staff is very nice

An older bald man didn't want to serve me because I was Latino. I don't understand how they let racist people work in customer service places. A very friendly young man helped me at the end. I told him thank you for helping me and not being racist.

UPDATE: Brytni is now at the Pink Pug on Nottingham Rd. I tracked her down! 😁Every. Single. Time. Brytni does a superb job grooming my adult miniature poodle. My pup is a Prima Donna that loooves attention! So, her time with Brytni is like a spa day. Same superior service and wonderful personality each time we go for a bath, cut, nail grind and teeth cleaning.

I hate to say it but after my experience today I will not go back in there again. That place has gone WAY down hill. The female that was working, cleaning tanks, should bot be working in customer service to make a long story short. I have never had such an unpleasant experience. She should be fired but manager seemed fine with their behavior!?

Every item, all 3, rung up wrong. Cashier made us feel like we were scamming the place. Checked every item and I was correct on them all. Over charge would have been $14. Check your prices

The only thing I didn't like was some woman yelled at me for tapping on glass at a cat. Have signs. "Please don't tap on the glass"

I love this pet shop! It has everything! We have an indoor and outdoor cat. We go about once a month and purchase what we need. We usually buy packets of OMG with the gravy and Friskies for the outdoor cat. For treats, they both love Temptations and Squeeze-ups.

Adopted my beloved cat from here. Make sure you price match with Chewy, can save you over 50% on in store prices.Would be 5 stars but June 2019 Derrick was very rude to me and made up a policy that clearly wasn’t true and supported by any document so I couldn’t use a coupon.

Good pet store. Well stocked and tons of variety for all pets. My only con on the location is that it seems whenever I go, day or night, they only have one cashier. This always causes a line at least 4-5 people deep. This is one of the few times where I can say a self-checkout would be helpful.

Some of the prices in this store, (and no, im not meaning the in-store specific brands) of flea treatments are so MUCH higher than a lot of other stores in the area.There's a flea medicine that starts with a N whose "common" pricing around our area is about 27.99$, whereas the price in PetSmart was a whipping 40.99$!!!That's a HUGE difference in price and absolutely no reason a big chain store like this would charge that much for a literal pill the size of a tic tac and 6 of them in a blister pack. Literally buying cardboard. Plastic blister packs and the most minute amount of medicine for that price!I would never ever pay that amount of money for something I can get literally within 5 minutes of this "RI/P-OFF" Artist!!!

Took my 150 pound Anatolian Shepherd Dog in for grooming. I have never been to a grooming service before. Man , I'm so impressed! They did a fantastic job! My dog has never looked so good. I am very pleased

Lots of selection, products for pets. Prices are competitive. Also there is a full service grooming section in the back of the store. Very convenient. They also give the doggies who get a grooming a treat:)

Yesterday I brought my cat to buy snacks. I wanted her to see the children who were waiting for adoption, but she jumped from the shopping cart and hid under the cabinet. There sales were very enthusiastic. They got on the floor to help me catch her. They soiled their clothes，Thank them I won't make trouble again😃

By far the cleanest pet store in Syracuse. Doesn't have any of the odd odors I've run into elsewhere in town. Staff are genuine and friendly. Large selection of treats and food, including raw options, for your dog.Won't shop anywhere else in town for my pet needs.

I adopted a cat here 4 years ago and he has been healthy and a joy ever since I brought him home. I really like this store and I buy all my cat food here. Checking out takes some time because every can has to be scanned. Also, staff needs to STOP asking customers for their phone numbers to utilize their perks card. You never know who's standing in line next to you and who may try to gather information based in your phone #. Also, I realize the store is small but stop putting display cases in the middle aisle so we can move our carts around. It's so cramped in there and often people have to stop to wait for others to get out of the way especially if they're checking out birds or rabbits which are also in the middle aisle. Poor layout!

The groomers here did a wonderful job with my Pekingese. He’s a little more stubborn in his old age, but Chelsea made him comfortable and he looks great. He even smells like ice cream from the shampoo they used.

Petsmart is good it’s alright it’s just they need to stop selling the critter trail cages and small all living things cages by tiny tales for the hamsters gerbils and mice because they’re not safe and they’re way too small for them and I know they sell them in the small fish tanks there but they should be a little bigger because the hamsters get really stressed out and small space in the pet store should stop selling the wired wheels because they’re dangerous for hamster feet:) and they should lower the bedding pricing and stop selling the wrong hamster food oxbow is bad for them and Kaytee besides oxbow toys and Kaytee bedding that’s fine but not the scented beddings and shavings they are dangerous for hammies!! That’s why I give four stars other than that everything else is great! For Syrians I would recommend 10 to 12 inch. wheels so they don’t arch their backs and for the dwarf hamsters I would recommend 8-10 inch. wheels nothing smaller than that continue to use Higgins Sunburst and labblocks for them to if anyone gets a hamster make sure you get 450 in.² and over a floor space 50 gallon and 200 quart bin cages are good 40 gallon and over fish tanks are good as long as you have a lid. Wire cages are good just make sure it’s over 450 in.² for both hamster types do not house your hamsters together as they are solitary animals they can only be housed if they’re really really young. Petsmart I really really think you should take this advice into consideration as it’s very very important that our small animals get the proper care they need.

I have shopped at this store many times because…sometimes it’s just nice to pick it up rather than wait for delivery. It makes me sad to leave this review, but I need to notify pet owners who plan their day out accordingly because pet stores are hard to even come by nowadays and people go out of their way to go to them. I arrived to this store on Thursday evening (1/12/23) at 8:40pm. The publicly stated hours on the web are posted as 9am-9pm for Thursdays. This isn’t a small mom and pop shop. There wasn’t a sign in the window saying sorry we closed early because of “x” reason. It’s basically a national retail chain. You shouldn’t publicly market that you’re open until 9pm if you close almost a half hour before the stated time. It’s one thing if I arrived at 8:57pm. I would understand that. But you advertise that you’re open until 9pm. I went out of my way to get here. I showed up at 8:40pm and your doors were closed. I won’t go out of my way to shop here again. I’ll just order from Amazon or chewy rather than waste my time. It’s sad because I always try to support brick and mortar stores but this is the kind of stuff that makes people not want to deal with it.
