This locally-owned supermarket stocks an extensive collection of brand-name products. It also has a store-brand line that provides shoppers a lower priced option. However, unlike major chains such as Wegmans which are systematically eliminating brand name products from their shelves in favor of low-bid, often inferior, store-brand products, Green Hills emphasizes brands you love and trust. Another area in which the store excels is the produce department. There you'll find beautiful, fresh fruits and vegetables lined up in neat rows of impressive symmetry. You might even view the colorful displays as artistic. Other areas to check out include the bakery which offers one of the best half moon cookies in upstate New York, as well as artisan breads (try the Tuscan Boule), pastries, cakes, bagels, and their famous donuts (try the glazed old fashioned buttermilk donut). Also the deli department was recently acknowledged in our local newspaper as making superior subs and sandwiches. We've confirmed that by trying their Turkey, Italiano, and Tuna Salad subs. Finally, they have an excellent selection of beers and ales from microbreweries and Europe. Overall, this is a gem of a market.

I have shopped here 58 years. Great store and for the most part, so is the staff. I hope management reads this. One problem. Tall girl in your deli Sundays. Very poor attitude. Every time. Remove the problem

I shop here most of the time and pretty much since the 80's have memories of taking the bus here with my grandmother. Fresh green beans and brussel sprouts. Sometimes Green Hills has some rare fruits. I believe there meat selection is pretty good. Green Hills has a very good bakery and it's better than the top Super Markets that I have been too. Fresh seafood at the right time. Boar's Head roast beef is amazing and I like there elbow salad. The beer cooler is big and has a good selection of beer from most of the worlds. Also, the only place I seen Arizona Iced Tea the hard version really good haven't seen it any place else than here.

They lock the front doors before the posted time. And if you happen to be inside before this happens, they announce the time as being 5-10 minutes ahead of actual time. Tonight I needed pizza dough and cheese for dinner and got there at 8:55PM. The front person made a slicing gesture at his neck and then yelled through the glass "We're closed!" Basically their message to me is, any last minute sale isn't worth our time because how much can we make off a few items. It's rude and it is taking us customers for granted. I no longer think they are "the best little grocery store in America." Their prices are high, their fresh fruit is hit or miss, they use hydrogenated oils in their bakery, and their supervisors/managers are condescending (like why are you bothering me). I recommend that they change their posted time to 8:30PM and lock the doors sometime up until 9PM. Easy fix.Meanwhile, I recommend that we petition Wegmans to open up in our area because I don't think they really care what we think. After all they are "the best little grocery store in America," but are they?

came here for the meat and wasn’t at all disappointed! my rib eye was excellent from end to end, my wife’s strip steak was juicy not dry like Wegmans. the bakery selection didn’t disappoint!. we purchased a cake that was second to none. EVERYTHING WAS as advertised; no false advertising. simply the BEST!!

Grew up near Green Hills and it still has the best donuts and subs in the city! (Basically anything in the deli/Bakery is BOMB!) Here are pictures of the Sandwich menus since they no longer have them on their website.

I love a grocery store that has plenty of checkout cashiers working. They do that at Green Hills. The donuts are the best. Glazed sour dough is my favorite.

Please hear me out. This isn't a rant, but a warning. Not a threat or opinion, but thoughtful criticism. There's one thing keeping me from giving this place a 5-star rating and that's the health concerns that the Hot Foods and Seafood Departments fail to address. I have pictures of how bad it was when I worked here and I hear that it's just gotten worse. It's gotten so bad that the food departments are 1 strike away from being shut down. They've gone through a few rough years from their owner's death to the amount of repairs that building needs, so rather than addressing the internal problems and health violations, they focused on remodeling the exterior? Sure, they absolutely need a new roof and they needed a larger walk-in cooler. But they got rid of the seating area for what? I loved that seating area and a large number of employees sat out there on their break. It's gone now and it's just so weird looking at the building, especially without those trees along the street side view of it. It offered a nice ambiance and it just looks ugly without it.

Love this grocery store. Staff is always friendly and courteous and will go out of their way to help you find something. You don't need to have a membership to get discounts as well, they automatically take any discounts available off at the register.

I clipped one of their black carts and night in their badly lite parking lot, they claim no responsibility. When I said I will shop elsewhere the manager named Ed said it was my choice. I will take my business to Aldi's which is close by, I will take him up on it and go elsewhere. The custom service is not good, was five minutes before I was helped by the cook in back not the front employees. Even the bottle return is not good, we went in with bottles in two carts, they turned on the other machine after our request then turned it off when the cart was empty. Another customer gave up and left the bottles because they would not leave the second machine on, so sad but they do not care.

Overpriced and now lacks the small shop friendly feel. Customer service is rude, and it’s decline has been noticeable in the last year. Used to be our favorite. Instead I recommended you check out Aldi’s next door for a better selection, cleaner aisles, and friendlier smiles.

I use to love shopping at this store and getting hot dinners from the deli. They have the best huge donuts. But they totally ignored a complaint I wrote twice. I complained that 3 times I ordered the special pizza and wings. The first two times I did not complain. The third time I did because the lemon pepper wings was dry and the pizza was not even sliced. I will still shop there, but make sure before I leave that my pizza is sliced and my wings are saucy like I request. My only complain is how Green Hills did not reply to me at all.

As a youth I worked here. The doughnuts are hands down the best I have ever had. They make great sandwiches, have a great beer selection, and good prices.

My wife and I shop here often. Although the prices are a little higher than competing grocery stores, we most always experience a pleasant shopping trip. The staff is friendly and helpful. The products are pretty easy to find, once you get used to the layout of the store. The bakery products are fresh made in the store and are fantastic!

I have shopped here my entire life. Ever since the pandemic service has gone downhill extremely fast. Every time I order food here they mess the orders up. When you come to speak your grievances you are met with nothing but a nasty store manager. 0/10 customer service. Stick to Wegmans and stay away from Green Hills.

Best bakery, deli, and most of the time great customer service. Today not so much. Had to leave and come back because noone to help in seafood. Then when checking out. Cashier bagged up my groceries and left the rather large order on the belt instead of helping me to get them in my cart, continued to check out the next two customers. I had to make sure the orders didn't get mixed up. Just rude.

This place has great fried chicken and prime rib on Saturdays. Other than that meat department is way overpriced. The meat is tough. If you want good meat go to Price Chopper. A man in the deli department abused me terribly when I asked when the roasting chickens would be done. I found out later he also works in the recycling deposit Outback. He actually sent me into tears when he looked like he was going to beat me up and came to the front end manager when I went to her to ask her when the roasting chickens would be done and I couldn't get an answer from anyone else. I am a small senior citizen lady but look young for my age. It was quite intimidating and the female manager of charge would not help me. The whole store is completely overpriced like it would be in Alaska where it would be hard to get things. It's okay for prepared foods but other than that I wouldn't go there. I feel sorry for people that can't get to other grocery stores or Walmart 4 canned goods or dry Foods or health and beauty. Asian cashier today acted like a marine sergeant and that's when I decided to post this review. Plus the $10 steak I bought AGAIN wasn't i chewable. done!

UPDATE 06-21-2023:I shopped GHF in the afternoon; unfortunately, a checker in the rear of the store was the Moron, from my nightmares. I told her, in ASL, and English that I am deaf in both ears, this clued her to begin asking me questions. I speak 6 non-English languages, so I insulted her, and moved to the checker next to her--dumb as a post. Does GHF hire people with the lowest IQs? This woman obviously has an Intellectual disability. Most of the staff at GHF is very friendly, and courteous; they missed the mark with this one. My check out time was @ 14:38.Almost as good as Whole Foods, but... There is way too much meat, and cheese offered in this store. Maybe, it is the culture in New York State, or East Coast. I'm a newly transplanted Californian, strict vegetarians thrive there. While Whole Foods is considerably more expensive, there are many more meatless (vegetarian, and vegan) options available from which to choose (probably a reason for the prices). The store is very clean, and the service is wonderful. There is a dining area near the hot foods, but today was warm, I ate my lunch outdoors. I was expecting to find Stevia in the baking section, but only saw Splenda, and Truvia (close). I also could not find shelled walnuts in produce, I'll look in the baking section next time. The meatless frozen foods were also not what I am used to, but it was adequate. Tops in Valley Plaza is a tad better for meatless frozen food, which surprised me; nevertheless, I'll shop here more than Tops. Another plus is that I can walk to this store in good weather.

Intriguing local market with a little bit of everything. We went for donuts because of their rep but, for some reason, they were sold out on a Sunday morning. Ended up getting some baked treats that were excellent and some coffee that was OK. Highly recommend the turnovers, pumpkin cookies, and donut balls.

If you have not had a Green Hills donut; you haven't lived. You should go early and get fresh selection. Green Hills is a great place for bakery items. The deli is good and the salads are great home type cooking. Sandwiches are huge and they have dinner specials. If you want a great place for groceries this is the place.

I'm new to the area and was recommended to shop at Green Hills. My sister was hosting an informal bridal shower and we decided to get pizza for the occasion. We got two pizza specials and they were fantastic. It was a friendly atmosphere and I received great service from Kyle L. Highly recommend Green Hills to anyone considering.

All though bidenflation has hit hard, I still love Green Hills Farms grocery! I first learned of it when I was about 8-10 years of age when my father would come home from working and then early in morning we would go to the bakery and get best doughnuts there was in town(compared to Harrison and Columbus none could beat any of their breads or r doughnuts! The best in town. What green hills farms is , is just a small Wegmans and that is why for years it (green hills farms) has been referred to as “The best little grocery store in America” . The variety is the and if the shelves run low it’s stocked again , the meat dept is excellent quality there’s no “manager’s specials “ which only means it’s got only a few hours to spoil unlike dollar stores or any stores of that nature , the meat is fresh, the deli is fresh seafood is well as fresh as could be for being a few hours from coast . But you can ask and they will cook to your specs same as sandwich meats you can have special made hot foods on deli or cold in grab n go . I can go on more but I’m sure you get idea, still it’s worth the money , better than Walmart or lines at Wegmans give it a try you’ll want to go back, it is a Wegmans supermarket but everyone is in smaller shelves , have the same things maybe more . I will say Wegmans delivers and also they have foods they deliver also they have one or two more deli meats no biggie , it’s basically two more different brands of ham I say give it a try just like spending money at Wegmans but ya get more for buck I think and the produce is definitely fresher they have two produce sections(great for the vegan or vegetarian)
