I had to bring Gucci in for her winter haircut, so I brought her to Madagascar pet services. This is her second time getting groomed by Carlos, and I trust him to take good care of Gucci. He always gives her the perfect cut and takes his time with her. What I really love about Madagascar pet services is that they don't keep Gucci locked up - she's always happy to see Carlos, and she came out looking adorable. I'm so happy with her winter look, thank you for always doing an amazing job on my baby Gucci!

My one year old westiepoo had gone to a previous groomer thrice, and that third time was just for trimming of nails. I was getting apprehensive of his rapport with my pup, because every time we were by his shop, my puppy would refuse to go in and pull away! And so I started my search for other groomers nearby and came across Madagascar Pet services. Rosie received my call and she was very patient with my questions. A time slot opened up for my pup that same afternoon! Rosie patiently discussed what she thought my pup's cut could look like. She explained seasonal considerations for length of fur, opening up the eyes area, and how ears could look. She was not secretive about her set-up and I liked that transparency! I left my pup with Rosie for an hour and a half and at that last moment when I showed up, as Rosie was releasing him to me, I was upset because he nipped her hand and hurt her finger, excited to be released to me. Still, I had never seen my pup more compliant with the grooming process with Rosie. Check out my before and after photos. Thumbs up and hearts to Rosie!

It was the first time for my 4 month old Goldendoddle puppy to go to the groomer, I did in-depth research and read all the reviews and decided to take him to Madagascar Pet services and I LOVED IT!! They took care of every detail, my dog wasn't scared at all and she was happy jumping on the spot. She has a delicious smell and her haircut was wonderful, and they cleaned every area of ​​her body. I won't change this place for anything!

Two years later, we still come to Rosie for our dog’s grooming. Adding a before photo to compare what an amazing job she does each time! We also get his teeth scaled here. Never had an issue and our dog comes home happy each time. Not to mention his ears are so difficult to cut but Rosie always does the cleanest job! We cant go anywhere else after we found her. Thank you again!

We had a great first experience at Madagascar Pet Services today. Our puppy had never been groomed before and so we were a bit nervous as she is an anxious dog, but they all took such good care of her, and she was in great spirits when we picked her up. We will definitely be back!

We had a horrible experience, she seemed very nervous and discouraged. I asked that she shape my female dog's face nicely and that she please not shave her. She did exactly as I asked her not to, my dog is now bald and she has cuts all over! Her facial hair is uneven and her nail is swollen from being cut incorrectly. I also showed her a picture of what I wanted her to do to my male dog. She did absolutely nothing, I watched her from the outside window. My dog wouldn't stay still, so she pulled him by his ear very aggressively! I went inside and she yelled at me, stating I wasn't allowing her to do her job. I informed her that if he was too much for her to handle, I would take my business else where. She said no she can handle it, she spoke rudely and made me feel very uncomfortable. I should have ran out of there, when we arrived there was a couple almost in tears. Their dog was bleeding from his paw and his shirt was full of blood. The owner told us she cut his dogs nail the wrong way, he told us to cancel our appointment. I figured maybe the dog moved and that isn't something that happens often. I was wrong, I'm not sure how she has over a 4 star rating. Her work and manners are horrible, spend your money wisely! DONT suffer the anger and hurt that I suffered, after seeing how my dogs looked. My poor dogs looked so scared and I normally don't write reviews. But I had to express myself and let everyone know what this woman did.I only now noticed her pictures and response, tell her to zoom in!👇🏼

Ellie, our poodle, literally runs to the groomers when she realizes where we're going (she's less excited when she realizes she has to stay there without us...LOL! But that's just her anxiety.). The store owner, Rosie, is always super friendly and kind and definitely takes care of our girl when she's there. We always get a great cut from here, whether we need it super short in the summer or a little more fur for the winter months. It's our go-to spot in Sunnyside, Queens.

Koa had been coming here for about 2 years and we’ve had a good experience! I really appreciate that they take their time with Koa— especially since he hates getting his hair dried. I would rather have a groomer who takes their time to ensure that the pups are comfortable and safe, rather than someone who rushes through a grooming appointment. Grooming can be tough for pups, so finding a loving groomer in our neighborhood is very important to us.

Danger! My dog was horribly injured here (photos attached)! Please beware. She needed to be rushed straight from the shop to the emergency vet with severe cornea burns to both eyes. Her eyes had swelled shut and she was in excruciating pain. It took morphine drops to the eyes for her to even open them and weeks of medications and treatments. According to the vet a chemical of some sort got into the eyes and wasn’t flushed out. It was awful! I wish I had never decided to try the new place. My dog has been groomed religiously and never a problem. I have never seen something so awful. I can’t tell you how horrible this was. Please keep your pets safe!9/21/19 - in response to the owners reply - My intent in posting this review was to prevent another dog from suffering the same 3 months of pain and near blindness that my baby did. I did not post this review to spar with you about the event. It happened. Please note the photo of yourself trying to “fix” what happened, as well as my dog right after her grooming as we drove straight to the emergency vet from your salon. Unfortunately, taking legal action would result in a lot of time on my part and only would cover the medical bills, as the law does not acknowledge months of pain and suffering and my missed work and care for an animal. My dog was screaming and couldn’t open her eyes when I picked her up. She couldn’t walk, much less get a haircut. I would be happy to post the videos of you and your staff trying to force drops in her eyes as well if that would be helpful to your story. Also our texts following where you told me you couldn’t afford emergency vet bills. As for the refund - you lost the dispute with my credit card company due to my facts given. You never contacted me or the veterinarian. Because you would not tell me what happened, they had to be careful with treatment and cover every possibility without causing more damage and permanent blindness, or causing further chemical reaction in the cornea. So most likely, she had way more medication than she actually needed, 9 prescriptions to take home, in addition to morphine eyedrops just to stop the howling and get the eyes open. She would have been permanently blind had I not gone immediately. We spoke from the vets office. You told me and the vet it was water. I sent photos of the damage with the vet and you still said it was water.I am happy to follow up with further documentation. I have videos, months of vet treatments and medication, as well as the credit card dispute case that was found in my favor due to my provided evidence. I would be happy to post this information as well. My intent again, was to prevent undue injury to another innocent animal. Not to spar with your business over details. The photos speak for themselves.

Rosie is the absolute best dog groomer available in Sunnyside. My pup Mia has gone there twice now and comes out with a beautiful cut. Consider how wiggly she can be, it is just a testament to Rosie’s professionalism, patience, and passion for pup that my Mia can come out looking gorgeous every time. So glad I have found my new local groomer! You won’t regret coming to Madagascar Pets.

I was a little nervous to bring Sam here since so many reviews seem to be from folks with smaller or medium sized dogs so I definitely wanted to share my thoughts on our experience. I was very clear on what services I wanted and they were very clear on what would be provided and how much each part of the service would cost. They fit Sam in the day I called and Sam has never looked this beautiful before. The salon is small but they know their stuff and were super kind and personable. While I’m confident in the occasional home bath and in regular brushing on my own, I am absolutely going to come back here for trims and deshedding treatments. Do some research on what they offer and give them a try.

I’ve taken my puppy 3 times now and love working with Rosa. She is extremely knowledgeable and helps my dog feel at ease. He can be very fidgety but she has a lot of patience and is very gentle with him. Location is also super convenient for anyone in Sunnyside! Definitely recommend.

Took my dog in to get his teeth scaled. They were covered in tartar and his breath was bad. He had his teeth cleaned years ago and I didn’t want to put him under anesthesia again since he’s a senior and it’s SO expensive to get it done. I’m so grateful to Madagascar Pets for getting his teeth pearly white again. She was extremely patient with my dog during the procedure even though he was scared and moved around a ton. It took 15-20 mins of wrangling but she persisted and got it done. She was really knowledgeable and explained everything to me. His teeth look spectacular and I didn’t have to spend a thousand dollars and risk putting him under to get it done. Thank you Madagascar Pets for keeping my pup healthy!

Rosy is an incredible Groomer! With most other places it's just grooming, but with her it's so much more. She absolutely loves her job and the animals (especially my baby, Lila) and it shows in her work! Rosie is the sweetest, and she’s great with dogs. We’ve had a great experience. Despite my dog being a nervous dog, I walked in to pick him up and he was all over her and playing with toys.I like that they only take one or two dogs max at a time, that’s wonderful. Plus he looked great with his haircut, nails neatly trimmed, it was great. Highly recommend.

I brought my little Oreo in for his first grooming ever. I was admittedly a little nervous as I didn’t know how he would react. Rosy was super understanding and helpful! She ensured he felt comfortable and talked me through the process. Her experience and knowledge helped put my mind at ease. He left looking super cute and happy after the grooming! One of the best grooming experiences I’ve had! Rosie is amazing- she answered all of my questions fully and gave a beautiful grooming to my very hyperactive, wiggly border collie. Please don’t go there if you care about your dog! I spent 2h in the animal emergency room and the owner of the business doesn’t even want to refund me the grooming when it’s the only think I’m asking for! I will have to take it to the legal way.
