I can’t emphasize enough how amazing the team of doctors and vet technicians are at Dongan Hills. Dr. Brown is extremely knowledgeable and goes out of her way to show how much she cares for her patients. She communicates thoroughly, answers every question, and is proactive with providing additional resources. This is one of few places I’ve taken my cat to that I’ve felt people actually cared for her just as much as I do.

I am new to this practice. My cat was very ill and we came because he wasn't getting better under other treatment. The level of care and service we received was outstanding. Dr. Macri, all the techs and the front desk (Benjamin) couldn't have been kinder, more professional and compassionate throughout this ordeal. Ultimately, we had to put Kitty to sleep as things had progressed too far. Dr. Jerger came to our home to handle that for us. His support and empathy for our family and Kitty was far beyond anything I have ever seen under these circumstances (and we have had many pets throughout the years and, as you would expect, have had to go through similar situations at times). In short, he made a terrible loss and a very difficult day manageable and less painful for us. We are very grateful to now have them to care for our other beloved pets.

Dr.Brown is absolutely amazing! If you’re looking for a holistic vet that balances western medicine when needed, she is the one to go to. She always takes her time when I bring my dog for an appt and will even spend time with me on the phone when needed to advise on next steps/approaches to help my dog based on what’s going on. She is always thinking of root cause for any problems with my dog which is rare with vets across the board esp on the island. They usually love to just prescribe meds or dismiss the symptoms. Her staff are also so lovely. Dr.Jerger is great as well ! Highly recommend this place ❤️

Dr. Jerger is the best! He took care of my dog for 12 out of the 19 years we had her. He was always so caring and had my dog’s best interest at heart. He was with us till the very end and I couldn’t ask for a more caring vet.

Dr. Brown is the most down to earth vet we ever met . She is the best holistic vet and I love how she explained everything about Zeus . She treated our dog like her own which made us feel so comfortable . She is putting him a a great raw diet and make sure he gets all his nutrients . If you looking for holistic vet in Staten Island she is the one to go . Dr brown ask for she always over booked but definitely she will change your dog life and it will be the natural way . Amazing staff!! Dr. Brown is a wonderful, caring, and knowledgeable individual. She has helped my little old doggie for years now. There truly is no one better!! My girl was recently very sick, and Dr. Brown had to keep her for 3 days. I live far from the office. She is so thouggtful that she sent me pics and video!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!!

I am very pleased with this practice! I’ve brought my puppy to 2 other vets on the island, and neither of them had given me the knowledge or genuine medical advice for my puppy that I received here. Please AVOID this Vet practice…Made an appt & paid fee ahead of time. I called in advance & cancelled my appointment upon taking my dog to emergency vet. I still have yet to receive a refund for services not rendered. I’ve called twice and the front desk indicates they are waiting for the vet to submit my refund since taking my money on April 18th.It’s extremely disappointing to find vets that only seem to care about money.Still waiting for the refund, call back or any type of service from this practice.

Absolutely LOVE this veterinary place! Dr Brown was beyond patient with our dog (German Shepard mix). She was honest, informative and super professional. The staff was so nice and just as patient. The office is small but clean and organized. We’re thrilled we found “our vet”’for our girl and would recommend this place to everyone who has a pet.

I have been a client of the practice for over 25 years. 5 dogs, 3 birds, rabbits & a Guinea Pig. All the staff has always been helpful, caring and provided the best care. I cannot express enough how caring Dr Jerger and Dr Brown are with pets. Both my dog and cat have seen them and they don’t even get nervous when entering the office. They hire assistants and vet techs that are gentle, caring, and know what they are doing. The office is on call and we had an emergency at 2AM and they called us back immediately. This is the only vet I have been to that I fully trust and know my pets are definitely in good hands. Their prices are also very affordable. I highly recommend them.

Went for a walk-in and found out they don't do walk-ins but they squeezed me in to see the veterinarian. Great first experience at a veterinarian and very helpful.EDIT:Made an appointment for my cat and it was pushed back a little later. Understandable, so it wasn’t much of an issue. We initially got Dr. Brown, but we got Dr. Jerger instead. He was ready and willing to answer all of my questions with informative responses. He shows that he cares a lot about the pets he cares for. Pretty awesome especially when he had a cat himself.

The doctors are probably very knowledgeable. That’s if they actually see you or your pet.The seen sweet, until you call them with an emergency. In that case, no one will get back to you or even see your pup.The first visit went very well and everyone will compliment how cute your puppy is.Then my puppy threw up and I freaked out. Called the office for help and attention. No one is there willing to see nor even respond to me. The vet didn’t even have the audacity to call me themselves.It’s a money grab. Go somewhere else, if I knew, I wouldn’t have even wasted my time coming here.

Dr. Jerger is amazing. we started using him about 2 years ago and we recently had to bring our Douglas in to find out he was in kidney failure and he wound up having to stay there for the last 9 days. I really dont know where to begin, this whole practice took amazing care of our boy. they went above and beyond in the care they gave him. Dr. Jerger clearly loves his patients and gives them the best care. he provided us with meds to go home with along with teaching on how to further care for our boy. Dr. Jerger really cares about his patients in a way I've never seen before. he is always available to speak whether it's to give emotional support or just a status update. I wouldn't bring my babies anywhere but to him. Douglas is now home with us and that's all thanks to Dr. Jerger. From the doctors and techs to the front desk staff at Dongan Hills Veterinary every single person in that office are all just amazing and we couldn't be more thankful.

I love this place! I had a dog for almost 14 years and changed vets a few times because I never felt comfortable. From the minute I walked into this place, I knew I had found the right doctor for my Remy girl. Everyone is such a joy to deal with and so compassionate. Now that she has moved on, I have another dog and do not have to worry about where he will get well cared for. Very highly recommended.

Dr Brown is awesome! Down to earth in her approach, demeanor and holistic views. Tells it like it is. We always get a very thorough once over when my dog visits her, not only for the yearly physical! Pricing is pricing neither here nor there but for the quality of service I would pay double!

They were highly recommended to me, but have apparently gone downhill since Dr. Carreras retired. They saw my new puppy for a well visit and we went back two more times for vaccinations. They require a $50 credit card deposit for every appointment. My puppy got very sick, very quickly with diarrhea and vomiting. I had an appointment for that day in the afternoon, but called in the morning because his condition worsened and I wanted to come in earlier. I was told Dr. Brown would see him, but we would have to wait and be charged an emergency fee. This was during regular office hours, and we waited over an hour to be seen as an emergency, yet charged an additional $105 on top of the regular fee! We were sent home with antibiotics. We were home less than an hour and he had five more bouts of diarrhea and vomited several times. I called and went right back. Dr. Brown came out and said she gave him a shot of Pepcid and had him on IV fluids, and I should bring him back the next day for the same treatment. I said no, he is only 4 months old and needs to stay in the hospital! What if he gets sick again during the night?! He spent two nights in the hospital. I was given discharge instructions to call immediately if he vomited, had diarrhea or “inappropriate urinating”. He peed in his crate and threw up as soon as we got home. I called them, he threw up again on Saturday, I called them. Dr. Brown called after several hours on Saturday and sound distracted and bored. She told me to give him a 1/4 Pepcid and follow up during the week. He threw up on Sunday and Monday, and I called again and left messages. It’s Wednesday evening, and still no call back! Appointment with a new vet tomorrow morning! SMH

My prior Vet retired so I was in a pinch and was referred to this practice. All I can say is Dr.Rodney is great all the staff are courteous, kind and efficient, they handled my daughters kitten "Lucky" like it was their own,, love this place and the people. Keep up good work.

I have been bringing my pets to Dongan Hills Veterinary Practice since I was a child. My pets have always been in great care (birds, cats and dogs!). We started by seeing Doctor Carreras but more recently we've seen Doctor Brown and Doctor Jerger. They have all been great! The staff is super friendly and coming in for regular checkups or emergencies has been a breeze. They even handle the paperwork for my pet health insurance claims. I have to drive across the island to bring my dogs here, but it's worth it and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Just brought my cat Maxx there for the first time. Dr Jerger took so much time with us explaining how to properly care for him and test his blood sugar. Switched his insulin to a better and more affordable brand, switched the needles to a smaller gauge that would be more comfortable for Maxx and explained everything in such detail. He treated us like we were his only patients and his new friends.... the staff is so nice and the whole office has a great vibe! We’re so happy to find that real, small-town, local vet’s office instead of feeling like we’re in a big sterile office that’s just seeing a “patient”.... Recommending him to everyone!
