It is very clear that these guys are passionate about what they do. The process was very smooth from start to finish, they were incredibly responsive, and they take care that the animals are going to good homes. They made sure that we were fully set up for success with our new little boy. I highly recommend this shelter.

The best shelter to adopt an animal in the area! You guys take exceptional care of the animals that are brought in and make sure they are the best, most stable version of themselves before they leave.I was a little shocked to see some of the recent negative comments about the lack of communication between potential adopters and the shelter but I will say that I have seen a lot of advancement and change come to their online presence and website itself! Keep up the good work and hopefully we can contact Susan and get her to revise her Google review and give her an amazing local recommendation to rescue and adopt! If it’s difficult to contact them on the phone, go to the shelter in person during their OPEN hours and someone will be there taking care of the dogs. It will more than likely be Marissa and her close family/ volunteers.Laine has a sister now, Delilah, she found us on a walk and hasn’t left! Thank you for the opportunity to take care of such amazing, loyal boy! He is in loving hands, his furever home! (YES he has taken over my queen bed!)With Love,Laine’s Mom 💗

Claire and Marissa were so nice. All the animals in the shelter seemed very happy and well taken care of.We’re very happy with the adoption process and we’ll recommend friends and family to support the shelter in the future.

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a dog to adopt. After visiting the shelter to donate sheets & towels, I filled out an application for a small dog. That was a month ago and I haven't heard if the dog is still available. After two emails and a voice message for someone to please return my call, I've heard nothing! Very disappointing. I was hoping to volunteer some hours here, but not if this is how they do business.

Marissa was so attentive to my emails and very accommodating of my schedule requests. I was able to visit my kitties before adopting, and received wonderful advice about how to acclimate these two skittish, scared girls! I was even able to take their favorite toys from the shelter... Of course I donated new ones! Happy to say, we are coming along as a family quite nicely! Thanks Ayres!!!

I adopted my bestie, Carter the tuxedo kitty, from Ayres in March 2019. I can't say enough good things about this shelter. They do such great work with the critters. Marissa and crew are such kind, good-hearted people :)

Made an inquiry couple weeks ago with application. No return email/call nor acknowledgement from shelter. Most likely keep animals up to receive more donations.

We adopted our dog Jasper over seven years ago from this shelter, and when he is no longer with us, we definitely plan to return and adopt from there again. I am writing now because I have been thinking about how lucky we were to wind up at Ayers and find the dog we found, a dog that was meant for us, and we for him. (Petfinder led us there.) The staff was kind, thorough, dedicated. I would never want to go anywhere else.

Owned and operated by very nice people who actually have consideration and care for their job! A clean and well operated business. A low rate to adopt a forever pet some of which they have pre trained by a professional trainer on site. They have good volunteers that care about the animals. There is an outside play area for the pets where you can become accustomed to an animal to see which one is right to take home with you...This is a no kill shelter!

Wonderful people willing to help you to find the pet of your dreams. I had a special case where they needed the Foster the animal for a couple weeks before I could adopt them into my home. And they were willing to hold the animal for me until I was ready to give it a forever home.

1 of 2 best shelters in the area, as they are no kill and treat their animals like family! Marissa and Rich do an excellent job with all of those animals, one of the best shelters you can bring your animal to if you needed to, and one of the best places to adopt from!

In August 2016, we adopted a dog from the Ayers Memorial Shelter. Marissa Glasser and the staff took good care of our Sasha before we met. She weighed just 41 pounds and had a flea problem when she arrived at the shelter in February, and Marissa and staff got her fixed up during her six-month stay. (Sasha is now up to 47 pounds and is flea-free!) They brought her to our house and made sure we were properly equipped and committed to Sasha's care, and were honest and open about her behaviors and needs. My daughter and her family have adopted from the Ayers Shelter as well, and have always found the shelter and animals within to be well-cared-for and loved. As a no-kill shelter, they're devoted to caring for orphaned animals until good homes are found for them. Animals receive veterinary care, spaying/neutering as needed, flea treatments, de-worming, and plenty of love and exercise. Sasha also had a microchip implanted, a comforting thought given her home is new & still strange to her. We're thankful (my family and Sasha) that these dedicated people care for animals in need. Without Marissa and the Ayers staff, we would not have our sweet Sasha to brighten our days and fill our hearts.Scott R. O'ConnorSharon Springs, NY

Tom and I were so pleased with the staff and their professionalism when we adopted a puppy recently. All of the staff care for the animals as if they were their own. The facility is well kept, and it is a happy place.

My family has adopted dogs from here for years, so recently we adopted recently as well, unfortunately with myself and my girlfriend's work schedule, we could not work with our beautiful old lady as much as she deserved, she had severe separation anxiety that we could not provide the time and training she deserved to help her through it, we had to surrender her after a few months and it broke our hearts, but it also gave the shelter much more information on her then they had to begin with. the staff at ayres is truly the best, trying to find us the best fit dog for our situation and they were compassionate and understanding when we had to surrender her, I will allways recommend this place to anyone looking for a dog, and have the utmost respect for the people who make this place tick. Thank you Ayres for the opportunity to change a dog's life for the better

The nicest, friendliest people work there and are ALWAYS wlling to help you in a any way they can. Even when they are filled to the max, the go out of there way to help you find a shelter with possible openings. They even have a FB page where you can post any animals you need help rehoming if the are unable to take your animal in. And truthfully the staff I've had the privilege of dicussing these matters with were just incrediable; knowledgeable, helpful, comoassionate, empathetic, friendly,...As soon as my brakes get fixed I plan on starting to volunteer up there. I'm in college now to be a vet tech, its my dream, my dream come true. Found my pupose and I'm good at. Man does life get any better? 👍🏻🙂

We called and left 2 messages for someone to call us back and they never called us back. How does that place run a business if they are only opened for 2 days a week for only 2 hours??
