This is an excellent nature preserve with many opportunities for birding. There are several miles of trail and also driving paths. There is a parking area and restroom facilities. There are numerous wetlands and ponds. There is also a large lookout tower and lookout platforms.

The staff here was very helpful and let us use the phone to call AAA when I locked my keys in the trunk. Once that was fixed, we went on a nice trail, saw an eagle among other things, and used one of the picnic tables to have our snack before we drove on to get to the state park beach.Entry is free with paid car into the state park.

The Montezuma Visitor Center and the Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to bring your family and friends. To experience nature and wildlife in a peaceful setting is rewarding. In this day and age it is free to enter and spend as much time as you like

Was not able to really see anything in the visitors center building. We could walk around on the deck and take pictures. We did the drive through at the wildlife preserve to see all the waterfowl and birds. That part we always enjoy.

A fantastic spot for bird watching at any experience level. For beginners, the water-birds are easy to spot and enjoyable to watch. You’ll likely see bald eagles if the trees are a bit sparse and you’re keeping an eye out. For more advanced bird watchers you can find songbirds with a good set of binoculars and patience.

Great knowledgeable folks here, and helped us identify a raptor that visited our back yard last winter. I love the examples of all the wildlife they have, and the drive around the refuge is very peaceful and well-maintained. I only wish they had more squirrel items in the gift shop, however, I was tickled to see the crow puzzle. I'll be back again!
