The Shelter boutique is a well-kept secret. Lovely clothing and jewelry, including beaded necklaces and earrings, at very reasonable prices. Pet supplies and equipment and other great buys! Friendly helpful volunteers on staff. Whether considering adopting or not, stop by for a visit!

This shelter is very clean and the fur babies are healthy and waiting for their forever home. Staff is friendly. I adopted two kittens and they absolutely wonderful! 😻😻This shelter has a nice gift shop that I highly recommend too.

Bite Back does not understand that saying you are interested in an animal does not mean you have claim to that animal, especially when you don't even have an application in and take weeks to make an appointment to meet the animal. When good homes want cats, they go home. We don't sit on them for a month while you get around to putting in an application. The cat was not given to someone without money and that statement is ridiculous. We are happy to explain our adoption process to anyone. Since writing her scathing review she has put in an application and reached out to adopt another cat from us. Funny how we are so awful she needs to leave this review but still wants to adopt from us. We love our animals dearly. We put our blood, sweat and tears into giving them the best lives possible. We fundraise on our own time..we process applications and schedule appointments from home on our own time. We answer emails and comments, etc, on our own time. Our lives are dedicated to the shelter and the animals. We do so much with so little.

Everyone here has always been so kind and helpful. We've gotten two of our fuzzy family members here, and are very grateful for the work they do. Especially Shalan! She is my favorite cat lady! Other than myself. ;) I am very grateful for the work they do for the animals here. Thank you so much!!

I applied for a sweet pup, and was approved immediately. A family member of mine is friends with the staff member, Elly Monfett. The family member informed them our housing and financial situation is unstable, which is completely untrue as we live on our own and my fiancée works 2 jobs. Our application was then declined. I offered to bring in documents proving we work and have our own home, Elly says to me “it’s your word against theirs, that’s not how it works”. That’s exactly how it works Elly :) hope they get rid of this awfully rude and sneaky staff member soon!

We got one of our bunnies from them, and this organization has a special place in our hearts. They do such an amazing job with so little and home, care for and rehabilitate so many helpless animals. They go way above and beyond, specially Shalan.

Took home 2 adorable kittens..one of which was terrified. It's been a year now, and they're both loving, sweet, silly fur babies. It was obvious to me that the Shelter really cares about the animals.

I give this place one star because for starters on there website it only says you need an application to go see the animals. we drove over an hour away just to find out you need an application it should say somewhere other than the very bottom of the website (when your done scrolling threw the animals). who’s gonna keep scrolling when they get past the animals? no one. Very unsatisfied.

I was informed that I would not be allowed to take cats home in a cat carrier on a bicycle because that would be too dangerous. Based on what? Elly Monfett said because that is what she thinks.This in New York, the first state to grant equal rights of the road to bicyclists, in 1887. (All states do now.)Bicycling is safe enough for me, but not for the cats? Are you going to arrest a mother who is bicycling for having a baby aboard? Cats are more dear than babies?A number of surveys show bicycling on the road is no more dangerous than an equal time traveling in a car.Fred Costello offered to pick up the cats and deliver them to me, but Elly Monfett threw my application away and gave the cats to someone else.I will be happy when she is gone.

We adopted a kitten from Saugerties Animal Shelter. The people there are very caring about their pets and you can tell they treat them well and personally care that they are properly adopted.

Gave the animal I was going to adopt to someone else right under my nose. I have the $ for adoption fee and veterinarian, that person did not have any $. Very poor choice of behavior for the long term welfare of their animals. Moving them "out" does not equal lifetime homes.
