The pontoon boats have no seats. You’re suppose to sit on cheap plastic chairs that are unsecured. Also, the workers and owner are rude. See below picture. Enough said.

We rented a Deluxe Pontoon boat on July 9th. Actually, the boat was great. I thought the price to rent for the day was very reasonable. The girl that checked us in was informative and straightforward. My family had a great day. We returned the boat, the girl checked out us. Said the boat looked good & we paid for the gas we used. However, 9 days later $1000 was charged to my debit card. My husband called to inquire “why?”. I was shocked because I never received a phone stating that anything was wrong with the boat. The woman who met us a the dock said everything looked good. The gentleman on the phone was rude. Stated that we hit the dock. BUT we never hit the dock! He even shared that other people had rented the boat after us. Stated he might have been given the wrong debit card information, but was less than helpful.Had to call my credit card company & start a claim. Wish we could have just worked together to straighten this out. He was given the wrong credit card to pay for damages!

The people who run this place are some of the biggest crooks in Saranac Lake along with being some of the rudest people you will ever encounter. Yes they are the cheapest in town but there is a reason for it. We have rented from them multiple times (we are locals) and here’s some situations that have occurred;1. They have blamed us for damaging a boat we’ve never rented.2. When we made reservation at another time, we cancelled 2 days before and they charged us $216 for that.3. They give you absolutely no guidance when you rent a boat, basically throw you the keys and say good luck.4. If you rent the cheaper pontoon boat, it has dirty plastic lawn chairs in it.5. If you question anything that’s wrong with their services, they will give you the rudest unnecessary attitude.Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!!

UPDATE:I was charged two weeks after, even tho I paid same day in cash!BBB contacted as well as city hall and Chamber of Commerce.Those people think if you have accent and you are not from the area they can charge you whatever they want.TAKE THIS REVIEW SERIOUSLY!I wish I could give zero star. I rented a boat, whole experience was great and people were very nice. I returned boat and was accused of not swimming in the canal (there is a lot of rocks and trees in the lake and river) and damaging a propeller. I did not notice hitting anything and I stayed in the canal whole time. I called my friend to ask how much that should be and he told me not more than $100 for part and $50 for replacing it. I said I will pay for it but honestly I shouldn’t.Owner arrived and told me that it is double prop and each one costs $230! So total of $460 plus tax! I told him I did not notice doing anything wrong and he asked me if I met “aluminum eating monster” on my way back. How can you talk to people like that?!?!?!?I ask if I can take a pic and check the price online because $230 per each is waaaay to much. And there was only ONE propeller. He said everything is double price because od COVID...3 other crew members came to argue with me and laugh about that “aluminium eating monster”.I took a pic and it is $121! And it is single propeller (confirmed with mu friend who owns few boats). So finally I paid $170 cash.Owner, Joe, keep screaming at me that I did not stay in the channel. I did. Whole time. And honestly I should of just leave because of they way how they treated me.I also bet my paycheck that propeller will not be replaced and next person will be charged.And by the way boat was running perfectly fine!And my red flag should be a gentleman who I met in the morning while I was filling up paperwork for renting boat. He rented a boat for whole week ($2000) and boat broke after 2 days. He was asking for a partial refund. I should of leave after listening to it.Don’t get me wrong I had great time but I have never experience such a bad customer service. I would of definitely go back if the day will ended better. The minute I took off the boat, I was yelled and laughed at. Girl which was friendly while we were filling up paperwork ended up being rude and cursing at me. 2 small kids witnessing this will probably be same way when they grew up. I have been renting a fishing boat from Swiss marina for several years. I come up from Florida to fish with my son who works at a local camp, every year. I make reservations and pay for the boat on Friday. So I can leave on Saturday at app. 6 am. I then fish with my son till sunset, bring the boat back then. I stay at a hotel next to the marina, and on Sunday morning pay for my gas. I have never had any problems with the marina doing so. I called several weeks prior to my arrival, and spoke to the mother of the individual I spoke to today while attempting to do the same. I explained to the mother who was taking care of reserving the boat for me, what I had done previous years. She said it would be fine, and to just to make sure I get there before they close at 6pm.I did so after purchasing my fishing things, including live bait. I went to the marina, and spoke to a younger lady, who advised me she was the marketing person. She then went out and spoke to a man about the boat rental. This individual was not friendly, and just walked away for app. 15 minutes. When I saw him again, he stated I'm taking care of your rental in a rude way. He said what boat the one with steering wheel etc. I said I normally get the V boat with the 15 HP engine. I said that's what I reserved, I then asked If that boat was the same price. This individual stated in a very rude and unfriendly manner, no that's $200. I said I was ok with the one I usually take. I then spoke to him about what i normally do, and that I had spoken to the person who was his mother regarding doing the same. I also told him I had dealt with Tom last year. He said it didn't matter, he (tom) didn't work there anymore. I advised the person that I was staying next door. He started getting upset saying if I was taking boat about that early, he wasn't leaving the gas tank in it, as he didn't want it stolen from his marina. He didn't care how it had been done. Though his mother in a working capacity had made the arrangements and okd it. He said he would have to find a place to hide the gas tank for me to take in the am. He then said since your staying next door, I could take over there tonight, but I would be responsible for boat, if stolen or damaged.In said I thought I would do it as i had done other times, paying for it the night before and just picking it up from where boats are kept. He then changed his mind about hiding tank, and just said, it can stay at the marina, but you will still be responsible for. I thought that was crazy. He then advised me that besides all that, he would ring up a $1,500 deposit in case of damages. I said all the marinas who rent the same boat take up to a $200 deposit. He said he was the owner and that's what it was if I wanted to rent it. It didn't matter that his mother had taken the reservation, or the arrangements I have had there prior. Or that his mother in a working capacity okd it. I have never met a more unprofessional and rude and nasty guy. How does he do business this way, except that no one else from what I can see rents fishing boats on Lake Flower. Even if he wanted to do all that he said and did, you can do it and at least be professional about it. At the end while speaking to him about it. He picked up the paper and threw it away and walked away.I started to check other boat rentals on Saranac lake, as i was stuck with no boat and all the arrangements, coming up here, hotel etc already done.While speaking about this to other local business people in this area, they smiled and said they have a bad and nasty reputation in the area, for being like that. They apologized for the behavior and attempted to help me fling another boat rental for the money.I have been in Law Enforcement for 38 years here in NY and in Fla. I will get the word out, of what Swiss marina is reallynlike. Or I should rephrase, how this individual who says is the owner is like.Never Again. I am sure this guy who has no clue how to deal with people and has no people skills will put a spin on it.

As a marine business owner, Swiss marine is a nice place to rent from boats from. We took a camping trip on a beautiful lake with the family. Rented a tube as well for the kids. The gas attendant, Paige has superior work ethic and excellent customer service skill. A hard working young woman doing lots of work! Overall great experience

If you’re on vacation enjoying yourself and want to avoid a headache: do not attempt to do business with Swiss Marina. Wanted to rent a boat for the day and was treated as if I was a bother and was told to wait an hour and a half as the owner would then be available to take my money because he was “busy”. Even though he was late to open up his own business and upon arriving left me waiting in the store for 20 minutes.Head over to Lake Saranac Marina up the street. Very friendly, laid back staff with excellent service.

The whole experience with this Swiss Marine Inc was horrible. To begin with the prices and the times on the website are completely different than the actual times and prices. The prices online run about a $100-200 less than the prices in store. When I called to place a reservation for 2 pontoon boats I was told to call back about 4 times because the person that does boat reservations was never available. When I finally got through to Paige she was extremely rude and seemed bothered that I was making her do her job. I also asked if it was possible to get a tube for the boat and she said yes, even told us we could use our own if we had one.The day of our reservation we arrived to find that the two boats we ordered were actually more like rafts that had $2 plastic chairs from Walmart as their seating. These chairs and the appearance of the boats is probably why there is no pictures on the website. This was an extreme shock to us as we had ordered the same type of boat a few days prior from Saranac Lake Marina, which had new modern, upholstered seats, was much more spacious and came with bluetooth and many other amenities for $100 less per day per boat. We did not want to spend the day on uncomfortable plastic chairs, that were also very unsafe as they were not fastened or secured in any manner to the boat, we decided to ask for different boats. When we mentioned the different pricing online vs in person to Paige who deals with the reservations, she very rudely responded that she knew and had no obligation to change these times and amounts.We then got escorted to different boats that were referred to as “Deluxe” boats. These deluxe boats were nothing special, and they cost $750 a day, which meant that we had to pay an additional $500. This is a complete rip off as the same size and nice quality boats cost $350 per day at Saranac Lake Marina.Once we were loaded on both boats and ready to drive off to through the lake we were told at the last minute that we could not in-fact use the tube that we were previously told was perfectly acceptable to use. At this point we were so frustrated that we did not even argue, we just made our way out to the lake. On the lake, we ran into multiple troubles on both boats. One boat would not allow us to switch gears therefore could have caused an extremely dangerous situation for us and the boats surrounding us. We had trouble with the gears multiple times throughout the whole day. On the other boat the locks to keep the gates closed were broken, which was another danger as someone could go overboard unexpectedly which was especially concerning for the kids that were on the boats.Upon returning the boats to the dock, Paige proceeded to ask us if we enjoyed our day and how we enjoyed the tube. When we told her that one of her workers told us the boats were not equipped for a tube, she claimed that he never said such a thing.Overall, the whole experience with Swiss Marine Inc was horrible and we will not be returning. The only reason we did not book with Sarnaca Laka Marina was because they were booked for the next few weeks, and after going to Swiss Marine Inc, we understand why. The establishment has rude workers and owners, is outdated and not deluxe in any way. We will definitely never do business again with them, instead we will go up to the road to Saranac Lake Marina which has much friendlier and hospitable staff, much safer, modern, and cleaner pontoon boats, is hundreds of dollars cheaper per day, and all in all is a much more pleasant experience. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

I love this place dearly, ive been working here the past summer and it has been the best experience of my life. I see so many happy families having great boat days, its ashame the only ones will to share their experiences are the unhappy ones. When i was called for my interview, the reviews frightened me a bit, but i took the chance and it really isnt as bad as SOME customers portrayed it to be. Its been a great summer here, and ive have had so many happy, wonderful customers in and i really appreciate all of you. I am a one women show, and i will treat you with excellent service to try to make sure you and your friends and family have a great boating experience.

Avoid this place at all cost. The boat you think your getting is not the boat you get. We ended up with a boat not with upholstery bench seats but with two dollar plastic Walmart chairs. We had to fight for our promised 10% discount with a person who was rude and by no means helpful in any way. It was July 4th weekend and when we called for some advise and assistance in starting the boat we were told there was no mechanic on duty. We ended up stopping at another boat rental place in our travels called Saranac Lake marina rentals for gas. The staff there was friendly, accommodating and their boats for rent were newer, luxurious and came with Bluetooth! We realized our mistake don't make the same.

We have been going here for years and always have a great experience!I called today to reserve a boat and the OWNER was so rude on the phone he hung up on me mid conversation... Apparently he’s the only one who works there and I’m sure of it because I can’t imagine anyone would deal with him.. Tom that was previously there was a great guy and always helpful.Called back and he was so disrespectful. He was swearing on the phone and threatening me....This is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever dealt with and will NEVER go back!!!!I URGE anyone considering this place to look else where.I personally hope you go bankrupt and get treated the way you treat others... horrible business owner!!!!!

This place is great. We had the most awesome young man wait on us today! So personable and friendly. The boat we rented was great fun for an afternoon. Highly recommend - you can boat from lake flower to Oseetah to Kiwassa to lower Saranac to middle Saranac - great location to begin your journey. Again we can't say enough about the young man who took care of us - he was fantastic! He will be heading off to college in a couple of weeks - best of luck to you!!!

We rented a 17ft skiff with a 75 hp motor for the day. Everything was set up and ready to go for us. We used skis and a tube for the day. We had a great time. Tom was awesome, great customer service. I would rent here again any day.

Made an appointment with the owner Chris Fust. I drove 2 1/2 hours to look at a motor. I have literally never experienced anything like this. The owner was rude, vulgar, and obnoxious from THE MOMENT I arrived. He was PISSED that I got there 30 minutes early and immediately started swearing and bitching at me. I soon realized Mr. Fust has a serious anger problem. I've never witnessed anything so ridiculous in my life. Be careful if using Swiss Marina. Needless to say, I wasted 5 hours of my life. I'm not sure what is going on with the owner, but beware, he is a very angry person.My response to the owner's response is: he's an extremely poor businessman, and an extremely poor liar-Furthermore, a day after my review, an individual posted a 5-star review stating all these "people whining" just don't understand how busy the owner is. Obviously, a cohort of the owner and not an actual review; seems to be a lot of those...

Swiss marine is great, all the staff is helpful and friendly!They have helped me with my boat for countless hours!For all the people whining, what they don't understand is these guys are extremely busy! And you can't expect to show up the day before the 4th of July and get your boat fixed like flipping a switch.These guys do great work and are very knowledgeable about all types of boats!

Monday morning standing in the parking lot with another couple waiting for this place to open. Its 10 am the website says they should be open however no one is here. We were hoping to launch our boat and unfortunately pay the outrageous 35$ to launch. Since the free public boat launch is no longer available this dude must feel like he can treat vacationers however he damn well pleases.

They clearly have a website with posted hourly rates and listed minimum rentals. When we went over to inquire they told us they don’t have a website and have never done hourly rentals. They had several boats available at almost 3:45 Pm and said for the remainder of the day, which was 4-6 pm they would have to charge for the whole day. I am unsure how you can not honor or acknowledge your posted websites rates. In addition they were less than friendly. I left with a feeling of dishonesty. I would not recommend a visit there.

Tried to return dock bumper that was the wrong type for my particular need. Got yelled at, the f... word was used multiple times. I was told to get out of there and hit the road. What a horrible and humiliating experience. I later found out out this person was the owner of this business. Stay away and avoid this place if at all possible. There are couple of other shops nearby with friendlier staff. I thought about calling the police but thought it was better just to move on.

I stopped in to see if there was a mechanic on duty to fix my motor. Apparently I annoyed the mechanic with such a simple question. He told me there were several other people ahead of me and he wouldn't drop what he was doing to help me. I replied and said I was only inquiring and it's OK I can go some where else. I said thanks pal and left the shop. As I was walking away I heard him call my nephew a wise ass punk and began to yell at us to get of the property and go back to New Jersey. I don't know who this man is but this was totally uncalled for. I have read simular reviews and apparently we weren't the first people to be treated like this. I strongly advise not to give Swiss Marine any of your business. My response to his response is that I would avoid doing business with this place at all costs. Just look at his response to my review. It shows you what type of person this man really is. How ever I shouldn't call him a man a man would not start and continue a fight with a 10 year old boy. I was almost shocked by the foul language he displays but when I see how hard it is for him to form a simple sentence it explains everything. Thank you Yp and Google for giving people a chance to expose these disgusting business owners and operators for what they really are. The one thing he said was right. Why did I go there if there were so many bad reviews? It's just as simple as he is, I didn't read them until afterwards. I will never make that mistake again. So thank you for that. Enjoy your life you miserable looser I hope you and your business burn to the ground!

I am the 13 year old that was with Leonard. All we did was walk in and ask if there was a mechanic on duty. Then he continued to give my uncle a hard time such as swearing, using vulgar language and a bad attitude. When all we did was ask if there was a mechanic on duty. It actually startled me and frightened me for a second. My uncle said ok pal and we continued to walk out. And I was not making comments I said ah well to my uncle because we didn't get to go on the boat. Then he continued to call me a smart ass little punk and my uncle said do you have something to say. And we walked away and as soon as we got in the truck he started screaming go back to nj and get off his property. I believe it is sad that I have better Grammer than a 30 year old with definite little man's disease. Do not go to Swiss marine.

Very happy I found this place, they helped me get a boat rental for the week and even delivered it to the lake we are staying on. Very nice 19ft boat that gets up and goes, great for water tubing. Thanks again and highly recommend this place

Guy named CJ is Disrespectful, an will tell you anything you want to hear to sell you a starter for 270.00 an then not talk to you an hang up on you when u call about the part not working properly! Wonders why locals won't do business with him! Won't ever get me or any of my family or customers business again!
