The new addition is beautiful and wonderful for the animals. From what I’ve seen the animals are very well taken care of and seem to be happy. We adopted our current dog from the Sullivan County SPCA 5 years ago and he is the greatest!

The staff at the facility were very welcoming and helpful. Went and looked at numerous dogs and found our little girl Jade. They were very outgoing and sympathetic. The shelter was kept clean and very warming. All the dogs have great care and love at this facility, they work with the dogs as much as they can to make them great house pets. Thanks for an outstanding experience!!

i would give it more but i can’t. adopted Lime(name is now Nemo) from here & he wasn’t fully dewormed as i would expect. ever since i got him he was having BAD diarrhea(surprised the shelter didn’t notice he was having really bad diarrhea), leaving poop on the floor, bringing it onto my bed. meanwhile i have a 1 year old. these shelters/rescues should definitely make sure their kittens even cats are FULLY dewormed. other than that, i love my Nemo & he’s an amazing cat & great addition to the family.

Went to look at cats today.. must have an application in to look at them. Disappointing, lost a donor and someone looking for a cat/kitty. I'm not going to provide any info to anyone to look at anything. Don't even have to do that to buy a house or car. Good luck if you go there!! May have to surrender your first child to them prior to looking at a lizard. Lol.

The friendly folks at SCSPCA are exceptional! We are ecstatic with our new furry family member. They’ve made it easy to adopt a healthy well cared for puppy. Adopt from SCSPCA, don’t shop!

I had a great experience almost 6 years ago! I saw a puppy on their website, a pitbull mix, and fell in love! I'm a lover of pitbulls. I applied and heard from Debbie shortly after, made sure I knew she was a pitbull and told me about the mom. She took care of the spay and kept in contact all the way until I picked her up. When we got there she even let us go in the back and see the mom. They were great. They even informed my town to make sure I had her licensed. Roxy, aka Lacey, is just absolutely the best!! So sweet and well behaved!! She loves going to my sons' football and baseball games and is better than all the other dogs we see there!

I had submitted an application for a puppy and didn't hear back for 5 days so I decided to call. Got approved 10 mins later. Went straight there and met the puppy we fell in love with. The adoption fee is very very reasonable for everything they provide you with. We got a small box of dog food. A collar, her records, and the remainder of her vaccines that needed to be given. If you don't hear from them just call, they are friendly and are just trying to get these animals good homes. When ever we are looking for another dog (which won't be for a while because we now have 3) I will l definitely use them again! Thank you guys, our little baby is super sweet!

My wife and I love this place. Debbie and the staff couldn't be more helpful and dedicated to helping the animals left in their care. We brought home a one-year old Australian Shepherd mix and is doing well after the abuse that she suffered. We couldn't be happier with our experience and would highly recommend going there in order to complete your family.Thank you

These folks are so very helpful. They are really motivated to place animals in good homes and respond to applications promptly. Much better than the "designer" rescues that don't respond at all.

We adopted a puppy from Sullivan county Spca and they were so sweet and helpful. We chose our puppy aches had to go back to pick her up a couple weeks later. She was clean, no critters, and we got all info on how to care for her. She ended up coming down with a cold and they were so amazing the east they took care of her and us! We got pictures and videos while they took care of her until we could pick her up again. I highly recommend adopting from Sullivan!

If I could give them zero stars I would. I called them because I found cat in serve distress on my property so I made many phone calls. One was to this location. They said I could not bring the cat to them because it is not the service they provide and directed me to contact an individual (a very compassionate lady) who works with rescues on her free time. After trying to find help for the past 24 hours, I am left discouraged with a cat suffering and dying on my gazebo. Nobody was willing/able to help her.

My son and I have visited this shelter twice. During our first visit, we had a great experience with a young girl who gave us a tour and allowed us to play with the animals. Unfortunately, our previous landlady reneged on her agreement to allow us to have a dog. But now, with a new landlord who has given us the green light, we returned to the shelter to find our new furry friend. However, the woman who greeted us was rude and condescending, stating that we could only interact with the animals if we had an approved application. We felt discouraged and disheartened by her attitude towards us. We believe bonding with an animal is essential before adopting it, and we will look for another shelter that shares this belief. It's a shame this shelter doesn't have the same attitude toward people looking to save a life.

As The Society of Prevention for Cruelty to Animals, it is very disturbing that you continue to use fundraisers to benefit dogs and cats at the expense of other animals. These rescue sandwiches consist of pigs and cows. Aren't they animals? Don't they matter? You should consider raising money with vegan options. It's a hypocrisy.

Anyone looking for a puppy!?! Or a kitten!?! The kennel is all puppies from 8 weeks old - 6 months old! Please check them out. The website says they're open til 4 but they were closing at 2pm, so call before coming to be sure they're open. You can actually go in the shelter and see them too! So cute.

My husband and I recently adopted a 13 week old puppy, Rolo from this SPCA shelter. From the first conversation with Debbie, it was clear that she was most knowledgeable and caring about her rescue animals. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and really took the time to ensure that we were a good fit for our pup. The day we were at the shelter to take our pup home Debbie took the time to explain everything to us clearly and efficiently regarding what had been done and what we will do in the future. The shelter was so clean and they practice such careful hygiene for their animals. The staff was friendly and most accommodating. We could have not been more impressed with Debbie and her staff. They really do care and it shows in the behavior of the animals who reside there. The animal world needs more folks like this! We are thrilled with our new little fur baby!

I loved adopting my fur baby from here. Debbie and all her staff were amazing and helpful. My pup was in good health when I got her, even if she had had a bad start in life when she was born. Can wait to adopt more forever fur babies in the near future when I buy my house and have room for them. This is where all my babies will be coming from.

My wife and I had a not so good experience here.On their website, under "How to Choose a Dog" (which we only discovered later on), they say the following: "MEET WITH THE SULLIVAN SPCA STAFF - The Sullivan SPCA staff can help match you with the right dog. They have valuable information to share that can determine which dogs will be most compatible with you and your household. We welcome a shelter visit to discuss the adoption process prior to choosing a dog. We want your adoption to be a success and provide you with a wonderful companion for years to come!"Nevertheless, on our first visit there, they allowed us - even encouraged us - to take a dog home after being there for just a few minutes, with virtually no discussion or assessment of whether it was suitable for us and our situation. They also gave us no guidance as to how to transition it into our home, where we already had one dog. Our dog is a female German Shepherd mix, and the new dog was a female Australian Shepherd mix. The two dogs did not get along well pretty much from the start, and within a couple of days we felt it was a serious problem. It was an extremely stressful two days, both for us, and the dogs. When we called to let them know what was going on, the director (Debbie?), who had not been there the day we came, said it was no problem to bring the dog back. She also said that generally speaking, it's not recommended to bring a female dog in when there's already a female there, and especially when both dogs are herding dogs. Needless to say, we were annoyed that the person on staff when we picked the dog up had not advised us of this. We were further annoyed and disappointed later on, after doing some reading, to learn that there were steps we could have taken while transitioning the new dog in that might have mitigated the conflict that occurred and possibly resulted in us keeping it. This struck us as basic information that a professional shelter would provide as a matter of course. When I brought the dog back, the director refunded the adoption fee without any issue, but was very laid back and seemed not to care very much about how things had not worked out - that the dog had been put through much unnecessary and avoidable stress, or that I had had to drive almost two hours round trip to return the dog. She didn't apologize or explicitly take responsibility for what was clearly a screw-up on their part, and barely said goodbye when I was leaving. All in all, the experience left me with a bad taste.I think the people here mean well, and it's possible that our experience was not representative. The fact remains, however, that the way our adoption was handled was totally at odds with their stated policy. For anyone considering adopting a dog from here, I strongly recommend that you ask as many questions as you can, and to make sure they make an effort to ensure that the dog is a good fit for you, and give you advice for bringing it into your home. In addition, as a general rule, don't adopt a dog primarily because you think it's cute. We will never make that mistake again.

I worked here for 5 months last year. The owner, Debbie, is a terribly ugly person. She’s abrasive and fundamentally dishonest. The facility hemorrhages valuable resources that should go to the care of animals. The business practices here aren’t from this century. The only criticism I ever received while working there was that I worked so hard I made other staff members uncomfortable. Then I was fired after making suggestions for improving efficiency based on multiple projects I had been asked by Debbie to be involved in. My only motivation was to improve conditions and operations for the sake of the animals. I was fired without any warning, notice or reason - except the preposterous suggestion that I didn’t really want my job. I’ve been told by insiders that Debbie slandered me with claims that I wanted to take her job. That’s simply not true, and sadly Debbie’s vanity and insecurity led her to do the animals in her care a real disservice.

We went thru the entire adoption process and was never quoted any fees NOR are they listed anywhere on any of their pages. Imagine our complete shock when it was finally time to actually go pick up the (8 WEEK OLD KITTEN!) and we were told the fee (it was worded as our "donation") was $479.00 - yes, I said $479.00 almost 500 bucks for an 8 week old kitten - it's no wonder the shelter is over crowded........ ARE THESE PEOPLE INSANE? BEWARE: THIS IS WHY THEY DO NOT CLEARLY INDICATE WHAT THEIR ADOPTION FEE - excuse me - DONATION - is up front. SAD that these poor animals are stuck there because this shelter is so outrageously greedy - this kitten that we were prepared to go pick up today would have had an amazing home with us. I get that they have medical care, etc. but SERIOUSLY? ***06-04-22: Owner replied so I am responding back: That information came from Debbie and we were told that the $479.00 is across the board - every animal that she adopts out is $479.00. Also, were called and asked for confirmation that our current kitten is spayed so we emailed it as requested; she never called us back to follow up so when we called again, she claimed she didn't get it, didn't have time to go thru her emails she was too busy, and to bring our phone when we came to pick up the kitten and make sure the info is on it. That's when we asked about the adoption fee and was told $479.00 - twice, we asked twice and then said no thanks because that cost was outrageous - very unpleasant woman.
