I've gone to the chain stores for the past two months, and they have done nothing but help me destroy fish...I went to the Reef Shoppe, and Tom got my tank running properly in about 2 weeks!! All of the staff are so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They never make you feel inadequate and just help you take great care of your fish. Their prices are good and I love looking at their display tanks while there. I live in Henrietta and even though it’s a 20 min drive it’s worth every cent in gas! I love this place!!

We absolutely love the Reef Shoppe. My husband and son were just in today (again) and they always have great advice for our aquariums. I could spend a whole day in the store just marveling at the tanks, they are beautiful. The fish we've gotten from them have been healthy and have done well, the pricing is completely fair, and we trust them fully when we have questions on what to do. Five stars for sure!

So glad I found my "go to" LFS. Tom and his skilled team are always welcoming. Got me back into the hobby with my 5 gallon Nano. Now it's time to step up to something larger. Maybe Santa will have something in his bag for me! Take my money, please.

Reef Shoppe is without a doubt one of the best aquarium shops in the Rochester area. Their tanks (and store) are always pristine, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and their selection of aquatic friends is outstanding.Highly recommended.

Anyone who has a negative opinion about this store clearly has no idea what a bad store looks like. This store is hands down the best place in Rochester for Freshwater and Saltwater livestock. The shop is PRISTINE and the staff is fantastic. Most stores have tanks that look decent from a far but upon closer inspection it’s COVERED with horrible tank husbandry red flags. This shop is easily in the top 1% of shops in WNY if not all of the state.The owner is a great guy. Welcoming and just a genuinely nice human. The staff is just as great and are clearly obsessed hobbyists with a huge level of knowledge. But more importantly, they tailor their knowledge to yours. You won’t be thrown tons of scientific jargon and overwhelming info. They will match your knowledge level, give you tips, and 100% guide you in the right direction.If you need a ship for dry goods, livestock, and eq… go in and give them a try. I promise you it’s worth it.They also value your loyalty and over a short period of time will learn you and your tank(s) where they recommend things you’d never think of.10/10 and please don’t ever change guys.

I love this reef shoppe it’s one of the best reef stores in Rochester hands down!! They have amazing corals, the staff is very knowledgeable, and the owner is super funny and also def knows his stuff! If your looking for amazing corals at reasonable prices check out the reef shoppe🔥🔥🔥💪💪💯💯

Always like going here and seeing what corals and fish they have in. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff for marine and freshwater tanks. Great selection of coral and fish, prices are a bit high on coral but that's to be expected in an LFS.

As someone who used to work for one of those big box pet stores, I have became super picky about where I purchase fish. At The Reef Shoppe, all of their fish always look healthy and happy! Their tanks always look super clean and stunning, and the staff is so very kind and knowledgeable. They will do anything they can to help you keep your fish healthy. Whether you are just getting into the hobby or have been fish keeping for many years, this is an excellent aquatics shop. You will not be disappointed!

Went in today to purchase an entire new set up. Sam and Tom were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in my decision making. Sam even went as far as laying tape on the floor, the size of the tank so I could decide how I wanted the decor to be set!! Everyone went above and beyond to help me and I cannot thank them enough!! This place sits in a kind of unique spot based on the shops that I have been to. I drove down from Syracuse to check out the reef shops in Rochester. Safe to say that they blow away what's is available in Syracuse. This shop seems to have a lot of really large pieces and some very high end stuff. My honest initial impression was "wow this is expensive". I then spoke to who I believe was the owner and he showed me quite a few corals in my price range that did not have their price listed (for the most part). I haven't really been to a reef shop yet that has a good system off displaying all the prices of their coral because it's so difficult to do and they're constantly getting new stuff. I think they would definitely benefit from writing more prices of some of their cheaper offerings over mainly writing the more expensive pieces price. That was atleast my perception. I am new to the hobby and only am a couple months in so I personally am not comfortable throwing a thousand dollars worth of coral in yet. This shop would be absolutely perfect as a supplier for a large business show tank or something. Their tanks were immaculate and the corals looked extremely healthy. It has a very high class feel inside. The very high class feel mixed with them seemingly choosing to mainly price out their higher end large pieces makes the first impression like " I don't know if I belong here" but once you get talking to the staff they find something for you no matter the budget or experience. I picked up two frags for a fair price that look great. I brought a frag to trade for store credit and had no idea what it was worth. The owner gave me more than I was asking because I was clueless of it's value which I really appreciate. When the tank is more established I will be going back here for a showpiece coral for sure.

The Central New York Aquarium Society made a field trip to Rochester and one of our stops was at The Reef Shoppe. What a beautiful place!!! Gorgeous clean tanks, healthy beautiful fish and very friendly and knowledgeable staff! We all left with fish😃

I stopped by today and asked a lot of questions, the employee working there was great. Very knowledgeable and patient with me. They may noy have the variety of hardware and might be a bit more pricey on some things than some bigger stores, but they stock equipment and brands they know work well from their own experience. Their livestock prices are good and their fish are beautiful, far better than any other place in Rochester that I have looked in. Their tanks are extremely well taken care of as well. I will definitely be going back.

I was blown away by the number of tanks and fish they had there. All of the staff was great. Being a novice when it comes to tanks they spent the time giving me suggestions to be able to get my son's dino tank idea done. They showed me many different fish and even wrote down the names for me so that I could come back and get them when my tank has been set up.After going there I really would love to get a salt water tank but for now my fresh water one will have to do.If you want a great local business that is knowledgable and very helpful with fish, this is your place.

They have a wide range of supplies and excellent prices. Corals are beautiful and well taken care of. Tanks are crystal clear and the shop is absolutely spotless. This is the only store I recommend to people. Truly flawless! The Reef Shoppe is the best aquarium store for any wants or needs. Hands down this is the best place to go for saltwater fish, corals and supplies. not to mention they have an amazing freshwater section. I have been coming to the reef shop for years and their staff is super friendly and informative. Tom the owner will go above and beyond to answer any question you may have and offer his expert opinion. they are not just trying to push products on you, they have your tanks best interest in mind. I'm so glad I have found these folks and will never stray

I did not purchase anything. The price on corals were priced high for my blood anyway. Then again i do bargain shop when it comes to corals. The salt water fish prices were more reasonable. They do have a wide selection! I was very impressed with their tanks! Makes me look forward to an upgrade. Also a very new clean shop.

I was amazed at the selection and health of the corals/fish they had on display. It is by far the cleanest fish store I have ever been to and the whole staff was very knowledgeable. I live 2 hours away in Horseheads and have no problem making the drive to get quality properly cared for fish and corals.
