Absolutely wonderful! I relocated to Queens from the Midwest and thought I was absolutely in for it once it was time for my dog, Spike, to receive medical care. Like everything else in NYC, I assumed I'd be paying 2-5x my normal bill due to cost of living.Nope! My dog's medical care has been cheaper at Lefferts than anywhere else I've ever lived! I was shocked! I have experienced standard vets, low-cost clinics, corporate/chain vets (Banfield, etc.) and Lefferts has knocked them all out of the park in terms of affordability, bedside manner, time spent with patients, thoroughness of care, and down-to-earth treatment discussions.Lefferts was recommended to me by local friends and I quickly understood why. I even have a vet just 200 feet from my front door and yet will still, absolutely, always make the bus/subway trip to Lefferts. They are worth it!!!

You know the doctor is good if you are willing to take an Uber all the way to Richmond Hill! Doctor Mittal has been nothing but a saint to me and my Fur baby! I’m never going to have kids and my Fur child is the closest I’ll ever have to being a dad. Libby is a special French bull dog with floppy ears and a wall eye. The outcast from California that no one else wanted. But he found his forever home here in NYC. Like every dog parent, your biggest fear is your baby not being taken care of properly, but I, hands down put all my trust on Doctor Mittal!Thank you for everything!

I first found Lefferts when I moved to Queens and needed a new local vet. I took my dog and cat there for regular check ups and they were always professional and courteous, affordable too.Just over two years ago my dog Faye was diagnosed with lymphoma and when I first worked with Dr Kevin Birchler. Dr Birchler is hands down the best vet I have ever worked with in my entire life. He always was kind and understanding, patient and never forcing any decisions on me. He is a regular guy who just happens to be a vet, he wants what’s best for you and your pet. Sadly, Faye passed just last week after her cancer became more aggressive and she let me know it was her time. The staff at Lefferts is second to none, on the day Faye crossed the rainbow bridge they were compassionate and caring. I picked up her ashes today and also received a card in the mail from them. Upon opening the card I expected a pretty generic sympathy card but instead I was left speechless by it. They had taken impressions of Faye’s paws and placed them in the card, all of the staff left handwritten notes expressing their sympathy. I was floored.Needless to say, if you want a practice that really knows how to take care of your animals while also being human about it, look no further.

Came to this place to have our cat neutered and I couldn't be more satisfied. From the initial consultation, the actual surgery and the follow-up, everything was great. To start off the receptionist, when I first passed to ask about having the procedure done, was incredibly nice and helpful. The vet techs we've encountered have also been wonderful and patient with Nube, who tends to not be still. The 3 vets we've met have also been incredible. They take their time explaining everything and let you ask any questions. The prices are reasonable. While there might be cheaper places, I'm certain the price is well worth the service. I'm beyond grateful to everyone in this clinic. Nube is truly a huge part of our family, and we're happy to have found a great place like this one. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

I have been coming to Lefferts for a few years now. All I can say is they are very professional, and give you outstanding service. They are very reasonable and clear about all fares, and they truly care about your pet.Sadly, we had one of our cats pass away last year. Lefferts made the process seamless and were so empathic. They helped us with everything during our very difficult time. All the doctors and staff here are so kind, honest and knowledgeable. I don’t trust any other facility with my cats. If you’re looking to bring your pet, look no further. Thank you ❤️

When called in for my appt, the assistant insisted on "helping" and tugged at my dog's harness without permission or confirmation from me to get my dog into the room.In the room after the initial update with this assistant whom was actually pretty dismissive toward me when I was giving details, and when the doctor finally arrived (I waited an additional 20 mins), I explained that my dog is nervous (flighty, not fighty) and emphasized that I would have to lift my dog onto the table. As I know her best and is a way to minimize my dog's stress.Again, the assistant was insistent on "helping" without confirmation or communication with me and went to "help" pick up my dog because this girl was rushing. SHE NEARLY DROPPED MY DOG as she carried the back half. I am fully capable of carrying my dog by myself. The assistant has long brunette hair and wears glasses. I think she said her name is Suzy. The doctor(s) are generally really helpful and listen so giving 3 stars, but this experience with the support staff was not a pleasant one. There was no exchange of rude words from me or the assistant but she was rushing and was not listening to the client, which is me. This was my first time seeing this person. Also, I have witnessed whom I assume is the boss yell at a client over the phone by the waiting area where the front desk staff occupy.I know the girls at reception wear blue but this person was wearing a different color uniform, and was really trying to intimidate the client over the phone. I haven't witnessed the girls being loud at all.If she is the boss, does she not have an office to have this conversation in private?

I have taken my two dogs and three cats to Lefferts Animal Hospital many times over the years, and now (after my visiting vet moved away; our household is carless) Lefferts has become my default. Their prices are fair, the vets and techs have always been courteous and well-informed, and they listen carefully. Most remarkably in this era of ever-ballooning veterinary costs, I've never had a sense that they've tried to upsell me on anything. This is the only vet I've ever known of that offers spot-check ultrasounds for certain situations, only when appropriate (and charges a vastly reduced rate from what you'd pay for full anesthesia and a full sedated ultrasound elsewhere). It's true that the facility isn't shiny and slick, but I'll take fair prices, friendly service, informed practitioners, and a local vibe any day. Thank you, Lefferts Animal Hospital!

I’ve been coming here for a few years now with my “Zoo” (4dogs and 3 cats) we see Dr Matal regularly. She is great and very knowledgeable! She knows I work with animals as well and takes that jnto consideration when I have a concern. She always does diagnostics as needed to rule things out when there is a concern instead of doing everything at once and spending unnecessary money. Thanks Lefferts & Dr Matal, keep being awesome!

as i have a regular (home visit) vet who can only do the basics, over the years i have periodically gone to lefferts animal hospital (they're also three blocks from where i live). in the times i've gone there, i have been quite satisfied. this last time -- albeit an unfortunate one -- the staff at lefferts showed much compassion and knowledge. they didn't push me into spending unnecessarily; and what i was charged seemed reasonably priced. in essence they did what was best for me and my pet. i would recommend them although every time i have ever been there, it has been a wait (even with an appointment). if my regular vet ever decides to retire, i will most likely make them my new go-to for vet care.

I’ve always had a good experience with the vets here, their prices are reasonable and they all truly care so much and are affectionate and caring with the animals. I recently had my cat Yodel in for a very complicated dental surgery combined with a complicated spay and they still managed to stay close to the lower end of the estimate given. They’re very conscientious that people have budgets and bills and they never do anything unnecessary to get more cash out of you. Truly a great practice run by very kind hearted people who genuinely love animals.

Good, Dependable ServiceI’ve been going to Lefferts Animal Hospital off and on since I moved to Kew Gardens in 2015. I have always found the service to be good and reliable, and the doctors thorough. My only complaint, early on, had been the long wait times, but they have improved 150% over the last few years, and that simply isn’t an issue anymore. They are also conveniently open most days of the week with appointments well into the evening, which is great for people Like me who work outside of the area.My most recent experience with LAH has guaranteed that I will be a long time customer. My Silky Terrier, BB, who had been with me for 16 years had to be euthanized. I was devastated. The doctor and room assistant who helped me were kind and understanding. When it was over they offered me ashes and clay imprints, but I just kept saying no, that all I wanted was my dog.A week later I came home from work and there was an envelope from LAH. Inside was a condolence card, and taped to the card was an imprint of my baby’s paw prints. I lost it. I was overwhelmed with grief and sadness all over again—but I was also blown away by the incredible act of kindness shown me by LAH. I did not even know I wanted the paw prints until I opened the envelope. That someone there had not only the forethought, but also the kindness, to realize that I might not have been in the right mindset to make a decision about memorializing some part of my baby, and then act on it—just, wow...I highly recommend LAH. Not just for the quality service, but also for the kindness of two people I had not met before that day.

I was waiting to be seen after signing in and noticed people being called in before me even arriving after me. When I got up to see the situation my name was crossed out as if they seen me. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional. I had to ignore her and get help from someone in the office. They was unorganized and I'm no longer going here.

Very happy with my experiences at Lefferts Animal Hospital. Great doctors, kind nurses, kennel techs, and support staff. Never a wait, always quick to take my littles in for their appointments.Due to covid waiting area is closed, but they were kind to build an outdoor waiting area and shelter for patients and caretakers. My doctors were Mittal, Birchler, and Delshad.Only negative remarks are about reception and Dr. Mittal. A receptionist told me they are not taking emergencies and go by appointment only - not true (only issue there).About Mittal, she had poor bedside manner. Namely she poo-pooed my concern that my little Nene (cat) seemed exhausted after his exam. Nene was sickly, I knew that. But her response to me was "I'd be tired after a medical appointment too." She also suggested I wasn't feeding Nene properly, when he was actually dying and just not eating, as animals often do. I took Nene back the next day and he was euthanized under the kind care of Dr. Birchler. Turned out Nene had fluid in his lungs and was dying but somehow Mittal wasn't able to determine that.Since then I brought my very anxious foster (cat) in and Dr. Delshad and everyone was very kind and patient with our family.4.5-stars due to (minor) reception issue and Mittal.Highly recommend, fairly priced, good doctors. I will return 💯

I have been a client of Lefferts Animal Hospital for over nine years. What has amazed me is our most recent visit. Our senior cat Rose, needed her teeth, cleaned and one tooth, needed to be extracted. After her procedure was complete. We were not only pleased with how well her recovery went. We were amazed by the change of behavior. She behaves like a brand new cat. We are amazed. Moving forward I will not hesitate when it comes to dental care for our cats.

I took my dog here for a second opinion because I really was uncomfortable with our current vet. The receptionist was so sweet and was able to fit me in same day. I immediately felt at ease. My dog was a bit nervous but the staff and Dr Zalewski were so great with her! The nurse ended up holding her towards the end of the exam and my dog looked so relaxed! I felt so taken care of and Dr Zalewski explained everything thoroughly. Prices are extremely reasonable especially for the care received. This is definitely our new vet. I’ve held off spaying her because I was so uncomfortable with our current vet. I have no hesitations having her spayed with Lefferts in the very near future. I have total confidence she’s in great hands. Such a great experience and so glad I came here.

Got referred here by a friend and I’m so grateful. Everyone from the vets to the front desk are so kind, professional, and understanding. They really care about the animals and are more than fair on price. I also loved that they take their time explaining everything and don’t try to pressure you for procedures or make you feel bad if you can’t afford something. Instead they help you weigh your options to give your pet the best care. I only wish I found them sooner :)

We have been taking our cat to see Dr. Halpern since 2018. He is the absolute best vet I have ever dealt with and exceptionally kind. He shows far more concern and attention for our rescue cat than "high end" vets show for purebred pets in my personal experience with other animals. Even after moving to about a 1:15hr drive out of Queens we still only take our cat to Lefferts.

I was very lucky to have found this place. The vet that looked after my Charlie was incredibly kind and patient. Unfortunately I had to put my sweet boy down last Saturday morning, but the staff was nothing short of compassionate and gave me a lot of time with him. I would like to thank everyone who looked after my cat while he was under their care; but most specially to the wonderful Dr. Mistry who was amazing and so warm. I will be forever grateful for your comforting words and your support during such a difficult time. You are the best. I will bring my little girl for a check up soon. This is the card I just received in the mail from them. Amazing ❤️

I recently had a rather disappointing experience at my local veterinary clinic, and I feel compelled to share my feedback with fellow pet owners. As a responsible pet parent, I always ensure that I have visual documentation of any concerning symptoms exhibited by my furry friends. This practice has been encouraged by numerous veterinarians in the past, as it aids in their understanding and diagnosis of the issue at hand. However, during my recent visit to the clinic with my cat, who was experiencing bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, I was taken aback by the response of the attending veterinarian. Upon showing the veterinarian a picture of my cat's condition, I expected a professional assessment and suggestions for treatment. Instead, the vet made an unprofessional comment, stating, "That's gross."Such a remark, in my opinion, was highly unprofessional and not reflective of the expected level of conduct within a medical environment. It left me feeling both disheartened and disrespected as a client who seeks the utmost care for my beloved pet.I believe that professionalism and empathy are crucial qualities for any healthcare provider, including veterinarians. It is essential for them to maintain a respectful demeanor, even when presented with potentially unpleasant images or situations. This not only fosters trust between the veterinarian and the pet owner but also ensures a more effective diagnosis and treatment plan. While I understand that veterinary professionals may come across challenging situations, it is important to remember that their primary duty is to provide compassionate care to animals and support to their human companions. In this instance, a more tactful response would have been appreciated, along with a thorough examination and appropriate guidance to address my cat's health concerns. In conclusion, I hope that this review serves as constructive feedback to the veterinary clinic and encourages a reflection upon the importance of maintaining professionalism and empathy when dealing with concerned pet owners. It is my sincere wish that future clients receive the respectful and compassionate care that all pets and their owners deserve.

After a couple of years going I can say that some of them are good veterinarians . However, I have the feeling that they only care about the money, their treatments or surgeries are expensive and if you don’t have the money you cannot treat your pet. So if the high prices are a problem for you too, try to find a new vet because if you can’t pay they no longer care about your pet.

Honestly I don’t recommend, the are more interested in money then actual treating the pet. They charged me for a ultrasound which at the end of day was seen by a regular vet who’s not specialized and then they tell me after it’s done that I need to send it to a specialist. When I try to send it the specialist they were trying to charge 200 so I left it as that. When I agree to it they end up telling me that they never had a specialist . So my question why was I going to be charged 200 for ? Be mindful taking your pet here because they really are money hungry .

I love Lefferts Animal Hospital. Their facilities are maintained well and clean. The staff and physicians are very personable and welcoming. They are honest and explain the visits thoroughly. They have always guided me in the right direction, especially when it comes to procedures and medications. I have been bringing my dogs here for 16+ years now and will continue. I refer anyone that I know and meet, with fur babies to them. My favorite physician there is Dr. Halpern, he is highly knowledgeable.

The lady working the front desk is a heartless person. I would never bring any pet to a place that would employ someone as cruel as her. I brought my pet here who was severely sick and she was extremely dismissive and cold and showed zero understanding to the situation.

From my first visit onward, I felt that Lefferts Animal Hospital was the right place for my new dog. I had just adopted the dog and Dr. Mystry did a thorough exam and spotted a few conditions immediately. I kept the dog and she helped me address each problem perfectly. I found her support staff excellent as well!Although the waiting room was small and the office location inconvenient (for me), I felt the practice was really well run and Dr Mystry really knowledgeable and caring!…. So we’ll worth the trip!Their good/organized office software helps me keep track of all vaccinations, appointments, and records. In addition, Dr. Valdes was really excellent as far as surgical recommendations …with no nonsense!I had previously been to overpriced, insensitive, disorganized, arrogant doctors/offices in the past but had now found a great home for my dog’s future medical needs. I highly recommend!

Very disappointed with my last visit. I brought my cat for what I believed was a follow up appointement. Yes, I asked if it will be a follow up during my initial visit and again over the phone when scheduling it and was told that it shouldn't be a problem especially that I am requesting to see the same doctor. Unfortunately, afterwards I was charged the full exam price and told that the whole different exam needed to be performed. The only reason I brought my cat back was to reasure myself and discuss preventive measures believing it will be at the cost of a follow up visit (which is less than 1/3 of the exam price). She was doing just fine at this point and I could had came back when or if she actually needed the whole new exam that I was charged for. Seems to me like $50 had more value to this company that a loyal customer of quite a few years...

This is the worst place you can bring your pet, they want to charge you $25 for a cancellation fee for a appointment, also we had a pet cremated here and never got a cremations certificate that we were promised, the light skin girl with the curly hair at the front desk is rude and she acts like she’s takes things personal instead of business, the manager says that they don’t have to post up any policy to make the customer aware of any fees, when I asked for a copy of the policy she wouldn’t provide me with one there bogus! ,they act like it’s the only vet in town, I would never do any business with this place again, there’s a new animal hospital being built in Brooklyn with state of the art facility for your beloved pet, don’t go to Lefferts Animal Hospital there more concerned about money instead of your pet that’s my recommendation. They get one star because it’s required just to post this review!
