My husband, sister, brother-in-law and I decided to try Northstar last night and was blown away. It’s not the fanciest place, but the food was EXCELLENT and the service was friendly and welcoming. Every dish served was so good. The owner was there and was super accommodating and sweet. If you want a casual, friendly atmosphere with really great drinks and food, this is your place.

We live in North Stamford and had heard about Norh Star for awhile. We finally checked it out on a Tuesday night. Was a bit quiet but had a nice vibe. Good outdoor seating options too. The owner was our waiter that night. David was truly accommodating. When he heard it was our first time he brought us things to try and taste. You could tell he loved sharing his restaurant. The salads were delicious and desert was amazing. The food was very solid. We will back again soon!

Delicious food, superb service. Very posh and the prices reflect that. We dined on the porch on a lovely evening; inside is darker, old-fashioned. Next time we'll sit at the bar which looked inviting. My companions had the wiener schnitzel and raved, my lobster special (diced asparagus, mushrooms, creamy sauce) was delicate and yummy. Desserts good, nice wine list. Not for a casual meal, nor a lean wallet.

Love this place! In the winter, it feels like a rustic place in Vermont. You forget you’re in NY and not waking up and skiing the next day. The bartenders are super friendly, which makes eating at the bar so much fun. Lovely outdoor dining in the summer.

Original, delicious, surprising yet never disappointing. If you prefer "standard" and predictable fare this is not for you. If you like farm to table style finer dining you will love this place. Excellent service. The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming.

As a policy, I do do not patronize restaurants that don't post menu prices online but decided to break from routine. Disappointingly, mostly every entree was over $30. I ordered anyway and it got worse as the portions were small. And I'm a light eater. The food was average, nothing to tell friends about. Service was good. I ordered a draft beer but got the same in a bottle. $175 later, my wallet felt lighter and so did my tummy.

Staff friendly and attentive. A nice variety of dishes on menu. One vegan option (Cauliflower Steak). Tuna tartar is excellent. Would definitely eat here again.

We’ve been going to North Star for a few years now. Without fail the food is always excellent. From the appetizers to the entrees and even the deserts everything is high quality and well made. There is something in the menu for everyone. The staff is friendly and inviting. Pricing is inline with most restaurants in the area. I do highly recommend this restaurant - you will not be disappointed.

North Star does steak right. You can't go wrong splitting a wedge and one of their prime cuts with your date. This is by far the best place for a drink after work, and usually the bar is very busy on the weekends with great live music. Not uncommon to find the mayor of the town rubbing shoulders with local celebrities here into the late night. Fantastic place. A++

Why is this associated with American Steakhouse? I've also been there, and it's a step up from Popeye's. This is nothing like the steakhouse in Norwalk CT because it's not a cafeteria or Buffet. There is table service here and a bar. The food is good at Northstar. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Outdoor seating is available. They have several fish appetizers and entrees. Vegetarians can find a nice meal here also- come over and see what you think, as I'm partial to the steak and chicken. Their steaks are delicious and come in different sizes. It's more upscale than Blind Charlie's Cafe, across the street, and the times I've been there I've seen few children. There's also live music certain nights of the week. It's a nice restaurant to have in town.

North star is the perfect blend of local town bar and sophisticated, high-quality eatery. It has the warm, small town Cheers feel where the owner and bar staff knows everyone's name, but the kitchen adds a menu chocked full of sophisticated home run dishes. Add in live music and you have a five-star restaurant.WHAT TO ORDER: You have to start with the truffle mac n cheese and / or the diver scallops. From there, go with the sea bass or John-boy's chicken. The burger is great and not always on the menu so you have to ask for it specifically. Desert: the ice cream cookie sandwich is fantastic. Live music on Wednesday and Thursday makes this a ton of fun.WHAT TO AVOID: Not much. The place recently added more quality beer options but this would be another area to enhance further.

Love, love, love this place!! The food is a bit of heaven (last night it was the diver scallops, cold pepper soup, and soft shell crab appetizers followed by halibut with asparagus and an artichoke purée and a Meyer lemon sauce, a nice bottle of Sancerre; then beautiful dessert’s;One a fig ice cream with an assortmentof fresh berries with a pistachio tulle crumble,the other a rhubarb semifreddo. Light and intensely flavorful, perfect for summer. WOW!All this topped off by a an unbeatableshow by Andy Aledort and the Grove Kings. We are still in awe of this tonight! The staff, owner, and chef shine!One of our favorite restaurants!!

A quant and small restaurant with a bar. Was a wonderful surprise - prices were a bit high - but worth it as the food and service was excellent. They also had a band Thursday night which was lots of fun.
