Dr Tell is truly the best. He has taken care of my Callie since the day I brought her home from the shelter.He is knowledgeable, compassionate and can make you laugh when you feel like crying.I don’t know any other vet who would call you at 8 pm to talk to you about your questions and treatments.

Dr. Tell is the absolute best vet out there! I live very far from his office and have tried out doctors closer to my home but no one compares to him so I happily make the commute to see him with my dog. He is extremely knowledgeable and so caring! We love him and couldn’t recommend him enough!

Dr. Tell is the best vet I have ever seen, by a landslide, and I’ve live in and fostered pets in multiple states. He is responsible for an additional three years of my sister’s dog’s life. He is smart and communicative, he is insanely passionate about animal care, and he has the best team around him. He will not stop until he understands the problem and he is prepared for almost any health care scare. The only downside to seeing Dr. Tell is that he will ruin any future veterinary relationship you have. If you have to be on a waitlist to see him, get on the waitlist asap!! It is well worth it.

5 + stars to Old Shore animal clinic!Dr. Tell is wonderful. His expertise and knowledge helped save my cat Cyggi when she was severely ill with DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis). I am forever grateful! The entire staff is excellent, showing love and care to all the pets admitted.I fully recommend Dr. Tell & Old Shore Animal Clinic for any of your pet’s health needs.

I’ve been taking both my dogs there since we adopted them 7 and 5 years at this point. Dr Berkowitz who owned it when we first started going was a kind caring man who clearly loved animals. Dr Tell who owns it now is just as kind and caring. He and the whole staff are always available to answer any questions even in off hours. I feel very lucky my dogs are being cared for by people who are so knowledgeable and truly caring. The office has been open during the pandemic in a super safe way with one animal at a time going inside and we the parents can see the exam through the side window while feeling fully present. I highly recommend this practice for your pets.

Horrible. Used to see the former Veterinarian here ( Dr Berkowitz) who was terrific but Dr Harris Tell has brought a negative change to the practice. He isn't willing or able to accommodate all the former clients/patients so he stopped seeing us and our pets with no warning or notice. The staff is rude and disinterested in helping regardless of the situation ( I was turned away with a very sick kitten ) and no empathy whatsoever. The two times I did see Dr Tell he was condescending and rushed through the visits. Go elsewhere !!

We can't thank Dr. Tell and his team enough for helping my fur baby through her bladder stone issue. Dr. Tell is so knowledgeable and always gives his most honest opinions for the diagnosis. Dr Tell is the best vet I have ever known. I have used him for many years at his previous office and now at Old Shore Animal Clinic. He is caring and an overall fantastic vet. He treats my dogs (Oliver & Toby) like his own and always follows up and checks up on them. I would be lost without him and can't say enough about how amazing him and his office is. I see reviews of people saying you turned them away and your excuse is you can't take on new patients. Well you told me the same thing and I AM AN EXISTING CUSTOMER who had my cat spayed there a few years ago, but due to the fact my cat has not been ill since having her spayed, you turned me away with the excuse that I have not been there "more recently". That's what your receptionist told me. So what is it. New customers. Old customers. Whatever feeling strikes you for the day??????? It's ridiculous. I was hoping for more professionalism. I would love to call back and hear what I'm told this time. I am also a local Port Washington resident and very disappointed. Any response?????

I cannot thank Dr. Tell and his staff enough for their kind care of my dog. I have been to many vetenarian offices and choose to drive well over an hour for Dr Tells keen diagnostic ability as well as the entire staffs love and care. I would rate 1000 stars if I could.

I own a dog training and walking company here in Port Washington. I have met a lot of vets over the years being from Florida originally and moving here in 2015, Dr Berkowitz and now Dr. Tell have far exceeded my expectations. I know a lot about dogs, but they also teach me things every time I go. They have helped me with numerous medical problems with my dogs. My recent interaction with Dr. tell, losing my oldest, was actually a pleasant experience even though it was an unpleasant thing I had to do. I cannot say enough good things about this vet and the ladies in the office!! All of my clients I recommend to go here and they all have great things to say. You will not be disappointed and neither will your pet.

Dr Berkowitz is an excellent Veterinarian and a genuinely nice person. The entire staff at Old Shore are all helpful, kind and true animal lovers as well. Last but not least is the prices are very fair and reasonable. No hidden costs or mysteriously huge fee's or bills. Honest and trustworthy!

Dr Tell is most gentle Vet that I have had contact with. He takes his time with the pet and even has gotten our Otto to be comfortable with him. Otto was a rescue who is scared to death of men. This just show you the compassion Dr Tell has with animals.

I am visiting the area from outof state and they were nice enough to take the time to add my dog as a patient so that my vet at home could send them a script for a medicine we ran out of. They were so happy to help and made the process super easy!!! So grateful! There is easy parking too!!!

Had to bring our family dog of 19 years (almost 20!) in a few times in March because his health deteriorated rapidly his last month. Considering his age, it was recommended that we focus on his quality of life rather than 'fixing' his ailments since it would require invasive exams/surgery and anesthesia (which was all very high risk for a dog of his age). Steroid treatments were attempted, however, eventually he was unable to move on his own, stopped eating and barely drank any water. The difficult decision to euthanize our dog was made because it felt like he was ready to cross the rainbow while we were forcing him to stay because of our wish to be with him a little longer. Dr. Tell and his staff were all very compassionate throughout this process. My family and I appreciated it even more because this all happened right when Covid-19 quarantines/shutdowns just started. They even sent us a condolences card, made me and mom cry again.

Dr. Berkowitz is truly amazing. His staff, exceptional. My husband, who grew up in Port Washington, has used him since he can remember. He is caring, attentive, answers all of our questions, doesn't do unnecessary testing, he knows his stuff. I wouldn't go to anyone else. They treat our fur babies as if they were their own. We had to say goodbye to our Golden Border Retriever yesterday. She was seen by Dr. Tell and Jackie on Monday and then, again, yesterday. Dr. Tell and Jackie were kind, caring, gentle, loving, and empathetic. Thanks to them, Zoe left this world painlessly with the dignity, respect, love, and kindness she deserved. Our surviving dog, a Goldendoodle, will continue to be treated at Old Shore Animal Clinic.

Dr. Berkowitz brings a level of care and attention to every animal that walks in his door as if they were his own. Every dog and cat in our family adores him and his whole staff. Our Golden Retrievers run to the car when you say you are going to the vet, and even our skittish cat has no issues going to The Old Shore Road Animal Clinic. Additionally, they do their best to work with our crazy schedules and his prices are always fair. When the unfortunate time comes that our beloved pets pass on, Dr. Berkowitz does an incredible job to make sure they are comfortable and go without fear and that we have a chance to say our goodbyes. I come from a family that considers our four legged companions part of the family and there is no one who I would trust more then Dr Jay Berkowitz with their care.

He was horrible. I took my cat in for a well care visit just wanting to get my cat on record with a new vet, as my old vet left the state. Dr. Berkowitz dragged her out of the carrier so roughly she was terrified, hair standing up all over her body. He didn't do much of an examination--didn't palpate her abdomen or do any blood draws (I don't even remember him using a stethoscope on her)--and he didn't give her even the legally required rabies vaccination. I was concerned about her weight, and he barely looked at her and said, "It's fine." (I asked a different vet, and she is, in fact, over weight.) He was snotty and condescending to me and obviously didn't care at all about my pet. Maybe he's good with dogs, but don't take your cat there.

Man has this place changed, new ownership has a complete lack of compassion and sense of community. Dr. Berkowitz would never have turned away a pet in need. This guy says he's too busy!! Big difference and not for the better.

It pains me to actually give this place a star when in reality it deserves ZERO. The most unfriendly and straight up NASTY receptionists at the front desk...small, cramped office with a HORRIFIC wait no matter what time of day it is. If you're going here, you better block out 3 hours for an appointment. $82.00 for a 3 minute visit with the doctor. Unbelievable. RUN as far away as possible.
