I love this specialty vet office and I highly recommend it to everyone! The whole staff is so friendly and good to my old man - from the front desk, assistant, to the vets! They are always on time and on top of everything related to my dog. They take the time explaining everything to me, and I don’t feel rushed to make a decision. The office is extremely clean and it has a nice and welcoming waiting area. Super impressed with the vast array of options available at this office. My dog has been battling cancer for over a year and the team has done an amazing job caring for him.The staff and doctors are absolutely incredible and truly care for my fur old man. I haven’t been disappointed - thank you for caring for Duke!!

We saw the Cardiologist, Dr. Jonathan Goodwin. He has been treating 2 of my dogs for heart issues for years. He is absolutely the best human being and the best doctor! Our entire visit with LIVS was flawless.

I love Veterinary Specialists. My dog has a problem with his eyes. Thank God this place exists or my dog would be completely blind by now. I had to seek out more help than my Vet or local ophthalmologist could offer. Dr. Sapienza knew exactly what was wrong with Finn’s eyes and we’ve been on a treatment that has kept his sight going. I’m grateful that we could find and get Finn to this hospital. There should be more high caliber places like this.

Great facilities, amazing attention from every single person in there. The dermatologist was wonderful, and very patient with my very active golden retriever. At no time I felt pressured to have unnecessary tests done, the doctor even said that one of the 3 included tests was not necessary and gave us a credit for it. It's too early to tell but my dog has been better with his itch and hopefully his skin issues start heing soon. I'm glad this office is open and seeing all the positive reviews online really helped me with my decision to bring my pup here. It is not cheap, but if you go see a specialist yourself without health insurance you'll probably pay as much if not more for services.

On Sunday evening my dog collapsed and was having difficulty breathing. We called ahead and after waiting on hold for almost 10 minutes with the emergency line, they told us to park in front of the building and someone will be there waiting for us. We pull up. No one waiting and no one at the front desk. We eventually get them to send someone out who doesn’t even try to help get the dog out of the car. Instead he goes back inside and rolls out with a small, rickety metal cadaver table (smaller than my dog) and tells us to put him on. Only after arguing what a terrible idea that is does he offer to lift the dog and carry him inside. We wait and are summoned to a room to talk to the vet. The vet tells us our dog is stable and ready to go home and that he just had a fainting spell. That even if we wanted to do anything, we would have to wait 4 business days for a simple heart ultrasound because despite being regarded as one of the top veterinary clinics, they didn’t have any internist scheduled to work until then. We argue that he is wrong, that he is clearly lethargic and not doing well, but the vet doesn’t listen. Settling only to give my dog fluids since we are unhappy with his answers. The bills, despite telling us there isn’t much to do, included fluid, a vet consult, and vitals is… a whopping $873.Long story short, despite our concerns being ignored, we bring our wonderful dog home only for him to die the next day on Christmas after experiencing the same symptoms we brought him to the emergency vet for just over 24 hours later. So in addition to losing our beloved pet, we feel ignored and scammed by this highway robbery of an institution.

My 13 year old yorkie went 100% blind due to having catarex and she becameDepressed. We had a consultation with Dr. Kim and her team and they were amazing. She explained the procedure and aftercare in detail and gave her recommendation on next steps. We are fortunate enough that we were ableTo get our yorkie the surgery and now she can see again! It’s truly a miracle. Thank you to Dr. Kim and her Amazing team for all that you do. The surgery was completely worth it for anyone whoIs looking into getting their pets eye sight back.

We took our 9 month old pet rat Chong (yes, I know having a pet rat sounds crazy but they really are just like mini affectionate doggies) here for a leg amputation after being diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer. The surgery went extremely well. The staff was very helpful and caring. In fact, when I called back several days later, the receptionist knew I was calling about Chong without me giving any details as to why I was calling! I hope we will be able to come back here if he needs further treatment. Thank you so much to everyone at LIVS!!! 💖

Our Shih-Poo Max got very sick. Our regular vet recommended we take him LI Veterinary. They did bloodwork and ultrasounds and determined he had an infected gallbladder and needed emergency surgery to remove it or he would not make it. They did the surgery and Max came through with flying colors. Everyone at LI Veterinary were wonderful. The facility is state of the art and very modern. Max is home and is his old self running around and playing as before. Thanks to the doctors and staff at Long Island Veterinary Specialists.

Dr Leyva was horrible. Killed my dog! Could care less. No compassion just worried about his reputation. Takes days off after surgery and doesn’t even check on his patients. No empathy. Run! Tells us he treats every dog the same. Well thats a problem. RIP my sweet baby and im sorry you died alone in distress. 💔🙏

Dr Sapienza and the staff are fantastic. My baby kitty Loki needed eye surgery because he has entropion and was born with no eyelids. They took amazing care of him. Thank you guys so much!

I had been to the facility during Covid and was very comfortable with the care my dog was given. I went back last Sunday and for the first time was inside the facility and the space was amazing but more important to me was the care and kindness shown by the staff. I love the convivence and care.

Dr. Marino is amazing! He is knowledgeable, compassionate, friendly… well-versed in related subject matter and open to questions and honest discussion! There is no pressure here. The staff is equally compassionate and friendly. The facility is state of the art and the location makes it easily accessible by car.

Very clean establishment with a wonderful staff, from the doctors to the receptionists. They made sure to take very good care of my pup when she needed surgery and the doctor herself called several times after the surgery to keep us updated. Definitely recommend!

Dr gave us plenty of time to ask questions & understand before surgery. All staff were compassionate & kind. Treated our dog with love & kindness. Surgery was a total success & recovery was half the time we thought. Benign! Thank you for making this the best experience it could have been. 🙏

Dr. Marino explained in detail exactly what was wrong with our dogs leg which is a torn ACL and what would be entailed in the surgical repair using a medical device versus repairing the ligament. He has extensive experience preforming this procedure having done thousands of these surgeries. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

Caring & attentive people all around from the visit to any follow up calls after. Dr Tumolty is extremely knowledgeable. He gave me a good breakdown of realistic expectations for treatment options and what is unnecessary to do at this point. Appreciate that he was honest about what is well known or not well known. Pricing is higher than my normal vet but it is definitely worth it.

Great experience! I was somewhat nervous and my "baby", Sadie was feeling quite the same but, we arrived without incident and were greeted and brought right into the examination room. Dr. was extremely thorough and reviewed all of Sadie's records and past test results. He spent a good amount of time with us and I felt so relieved that I at least have a direction with regard to Sadie's care. I highly recommend LIVS to anyone who has a loved pet.

Excellent experience! I brought my dog in to get his eye examined by Dr. Sapienza. You could tell how much he loves animals by how gentle he was with my dog. He was very thorough explaining to me the diagnoses and reassured me so I left there feeling confident. I did not have to wait long to be seen either. Highly recommend.

I am so grateful for the amazing team & staff at #LongIslandVeterinarySpecialistsI came LIVS on what seemed to be the worst day of my life- my ❤️dog -rescue bullymix woke up in the middle of the night completely paralyzed. I’m a very knowledgeable dog owner but didn’t know much about IVDD- I always thought it was a small dog issue- but here I was faced with the idea that my beautiful 70lb mixed breed rescue Porkchop may never walk again. 😞 within a few hours he was under surgery- I am so grateful for the expertise and knowledge of both Dr. Dominick Marino & Dr. Kevin Barber. they saved his life! Porkchop spent 14 days in the hospital & the staff became like family- I don’t know what we would’ve done without their daily support & encouragement -❤️Lauren was amazing! And here we are a few months post op, the best physical therapy team & lots of hard work & sleepless nightsand we have SUCCESS - porkchop can stand! And take steps on his own!I would recommend LIVS to everyone- their compassion, knowledge and professionalism is unsurpassed.

We went in two nights ago with my puppy who had hurt her eye and eye lid. First impression on the phone was helpful and friendly. The good impressions continued as we found the clinic immaculate and human amenities with coffee and snacks were a very nice touch. Intake was simple, and the wait was not long at all. Our puppy was frightened and in some discomfort so she was being reactive to the other dogs in the waiting area. The veterinary assistant Patrick was so kind which helped to keep her calm. Dr. Shih gave her a careful assessment and kept us informed about everything. When she was finished, Patrick explained all the medications. Nothing was rushed. Everything was very professional. She is healing well on the recommendations given by the team. Thank you so much! We will definitely come back here if we need emergency care again!

It was a little upsetting that my senior dog had an adverse reaction to a blood transfusion and had to stay overnight. He appears to be getting better. The staff is generally very pleasant and easy to work with and generally prompt. I recommend LIVS very highly.

Everyone there is a professional. My dog is big and tough and they did a great job dealing with him. He had a tumor on his eyelid that had to be removed, it looks like a plastic surgeon did the surgery! I highly recommend this place. I’d give them 10 stars if I could

The staff at the LIVS was very warm and accommodating. The waiting area was clean and continuously being cleaned throughout the time I waited there. The doctor explained all that was going on with my dog in great detail. The doctor also provided medicine for my pup and gave step by step instructions on how it is to be administered. Overall my experience here was pleasant and I will visit again if anything was to occur.

Our dog saw Dr Goodwin the cardiologist. Him and his team were amazing! The doctor listened and understood our feelings, he was honest, caring and pretty funny. We will see him again to monitor our dogs heart murmur. The staff were upfront with pricing, they got our dogs records from his primary vet and handled everything. No one made me feel like I was bothering them on any call i made. That includes Dr Goodwin who called me back at 830 at night. Great first experience at this place. 👍

Dr sapienza diagnosed my cats eye problem within minutes. He is very personable and seems extremely knowledgeable. Oh yeah, and thank god for pet insurance. We have pets best and they cover 90% of the bill, leaving me with 10% to pay.

I was dealing with a 6 month mini bernedoodle puppy who wouldn’t walk or jump and hopped around like a bunny. What I thought was an adorable quirk turned out to be the start of a horror story—he did it because he was in horrible pain. Something was very wrong. My primary vet said it was the worst case of orthopedic issues she’s seen in her career and that his musculoskeletal health resembled that of a 14-year-old dog.I went to three different orthopedic specialists in CT and each doctor spent several hours examining him and his x-rays. They were all left baffled on how to proceed. It was my worst fear. I was going to have to seriously consider putting him down.I drove two and a half hours as a last resort to see Dr. Marino after my vet referred me to him. He diagnosed him almost immediately with hip dysplasia and severe lateral luxating patellas. He needed hip and knee replacements in both hind legs immediately.7 months and two surgeries later, I’m happy to report that he is almost fully recovered and back to being the puppy he missed out on being for over half of his life. It’s been rough, I’m not going to lie—but if I could go back, I wouldn’t have done anything differently. As responsible pet owners I think we need to have realistic expectations when dealing with a medical crisis. Dr. Marino is not God, nor can he perform miracles—but if you’re facing a critical situation, Dr. Marino is the best chance your pet has at survival.I’m writing this review as a thank you to Dr. Marino and his team. He is the only reason that not only is my dog alive today—he’s living an active, happy and most importantly pain-free life.

Absolutely amazing Doctors and staff! Donna has been great with all the questions and accommodation. My dog came in because he had cataracts and throughout the years of his treatment plus surgery I have been always felt safe and in good hands. Dr Sapienza performed the surgery to remove my dogs cataracts and it was successful! He is an expert! Both Dr Sapienza and Dr Kim treated him for all the years he had it.
