Outdated store with questionable inventory. Bought these items today, 2/24/24. Both of them are expired. Go to the IGA in Boiceville instead. They have a great selection of fresh food.

I personally shop and work here. It may not be the best looking place or have the best prices but you come here for those few things that you need in a pinch. I would personally recommend buying what you need from here if you don’t mind things being a little pricey 🙂

Phoenicia Farmers Market on Sundays is excellent!! We’ve got a lot of great stuff. Mushrooms were amazing, greens very fresh, we’ll have to come back to the vendor who sold onion rolls, Indian sauces from Calcutta Kitchens are so yummy!

I should have the option of no stars. My friend and I walked in (both greeting the person in the back)--a short old dude with a long beard moved from the back to the front counter to greet us, he stopped mid-sentence when looking at (both brown women), shook his head and turned around facing the wall of cigarettes. Although I understood what was happening, I made another attempt by saying, "how's everything going." He continued to shake his head, ignoring us and facing the wall with his back towards us. My friend and I just turned around and left, barely making it into the store. As I was leaving, I said, "we will just get out of your here," in which he responded, "good." Some of the locals in the town couldn't believe it was racially motivated---but what else was that when he took a look at my friend with braids, and then looked at me. It was a horrible feeling to be on vacation and have this encounter. Nonetheless, the owners should know better. I was looking for wood, kindling, desserts, and snacks. They lost anywhere from $25-$60 dollars.A side note---there are bunch of better places around to find snacks and food. I wanted to go somewhere that looked liked they belonged to the community for a long time. It is unfortunate.

This market is TERRIBLE to say the least. These reviews do no justice to show how terrible this market and its workers are. Before we jump in, i would like to say that this page is for the Phoenicia market and the Phoenicia FARMERS market. This review is for the market.Pulling up to this place, it looks like a shotgun shack. Me and my family walk into the store, and we are greeted with what smells like feces and 50 year old febreeze. we had to stop to get some small items for the house (beer, vanilla, milk, etc) and we get our items. all in all the purchase was over $100!!!! The rude cashier makes prices based on what you look like, and other people in these reviews dealt with similar issues. There was no markings of a price, so it was INFURIATING when it ringed up to a hundred bucks. This was tuesday, so fast forward to today (thursday) i open up the vanilla to make french toast, and you will not believe me when i say THEY SWAPPED OUT THE VANILLA WITH GREEN FOOD COLORING!!! 🤬🤬🤬 NEVER go to this market, it has rude cashiers and TERRIBLE service and prices.

It's a Real Farmers Market. Nice quality meats butchered locally. Mushroom, and other locally grown vegetables. A Fish monger and herb specialist. And A Jamaica Both with products from the Caribbean. Live Music in the background. Even Donuts!!! And much more. I enjoyed it.

Rude staff. Place smells musty. No prices written anywhere. I guess they just give prices based on how you look? $7.55 for a roll of aluminum foil, INSANE

Do not go to the Phoenicia supermarket. Friends stopped in and when the man inside saw they were black, he shunned them and didn’t serve them. He actually shook his head in disappointment when he saw them - right in your face old school racism. It’s a shame since we have found Phoenicia to be an otherwise open, inclusive, and friendly town. Go to the market in Boiceville or Margareteville.

This is two business listings in one. The 'farmer's market' is only on the weekend in the parking lot, and is pleasant and worth a stop-by if you are in town! The 'grocery store' that is here otherwise should have a claim to fame for 'world's worst market'. Whenever we need something in desperation we still go here bc there aren't any other grocery stores in Phoenicia, but beware it is truly an awful experience. The staff is rude and clearly intoxicated. The shelves are filthy. The product selection is terrible. Nothing has a price and they just make up prices on a ring-up machine at check-out and charge people that 'look like their from the city 2x'. I'm not exaggerating about this at all...twice recently I've gone in and a 4 pack of beer has been over $20 at check-out.Avoid at all costs if you can.

The owner, Margaret is a sweet lady. She is always pleasant and always willing to have a conversation with her customers. Her German potato salad is amazing! The BEST EVER! Highly Recommend getting it. She had German foods as well. She makes everything fresh. I first came here over 20 years ago, and she continues to make great food. I love her collection of candy to purchase. If you’re in town, I highly recommend going here to get some good food and have a picnic in the area. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

Lots of beer here if that's your thing. Local beer too. It's like a convenient store in a way. Very old looking on the outside. A little run down but I think they will have what the traveler needs in a pinch.

This Google review page is for two separate things. One is for the “supermarket” at 82 Main Street. The other is the Phoenicia Farmers Market which happens weekly in the park long lot behind the supermarket and is hosted by non-supermarket organizers. The supermarket is deserving of ZERO stars and the farmers market is deserving of FIVE stars, hence the polar opposites of many of these reviews.I am here to leave a review for the Phoenicia Supermarket (82 Main St) and to warn anyone to NOT patron this place. We live in Phoenicia and this *could* be a welcomed resource for us except that every time we enter, the people are rude and intolerable. Their reputation within the town precedes them. If you’re not from here, save yourself and don’t go. If you are from here, then you already know the landlord negligence and attitude that comes from this place. Save your money and your spirit. The Valero has a selection of snacks, drinks and last minute emergency things (sugar, milk etc) and the Boiceville IGA (although expensive) is only ten minutes away.

If i could do no stars i would this place needs to be shut down, the old nasty guy behind the counter yelling at me and my friends calling us city folks, asked nicely if i could get helped in the deli area, straight up got barked at. Guy thought we were stealing. After we left the old man who looks like bad santa started to yell at us to get out the town like we come to your home town and spend money at your business to keep you going. Im about to just buy this guys store that worth $1.00 and kick him out and kick rocks at him. This guy should not be in the business marketing anymore.!!! I would give 5 star if nose ring was still here!

The ladies at the front were very welcoming, and you just get that good feeling of walking into a local grocery store. They just have a little bit of everything and that everything is just every bit of what you need. I would definitely go back!

I live 10 minutes away and they almost always have what I need.I have asked for some things they didn't carry only to find a week or two later it sitting on the shelf!!This place is awesome and the workers are super friendly. There is a review below about not trusting the food, yet I get lunch here, and buy other food here all the time for my home and I have never gotten even the slightest bit sick over anything I have eaten!Plus they are one of the only places around open late!So if you are up here on vacation, or visiting a friend, or at your weekend home, add this place as your one stop shop for anything you have ran out of, forgotten, or are in the mood to get, almost anytime!!

Love this deli and it's owner Margaret. Don't miss the unique German foods for sale, or the lovingly prepared salads and sandwiches. Her homemade Friendship bread is out of this world. Just lightly sweetened.

The supermarket was very expensive. There were no prices. It was late, so I grabbed a few items to make breakfast (eggs, bread, sausage, etc) - $48. Would have been cheaper to just buy breakfast, next time. The store was very messy.

Stay far away! Just passing through town and the old man who looks like a nasty santa claus yelled at me because i was looking at chips in the back of the store and he thought i was stealing? He was so rude and on top of that he tried to charge me $20 for a bag of chips never ran out of a place so fast in my life. The man made my son cry because of rude he was.

The owner recently- beginning of February 2018 changed who manages the deli. What a change! Great, fresh, tasty breakfast sandwiches awesome lunch sandwiches and 5 dollars for said sandwich it's quite a deal. If you find yourself traveling through Phoenicia do yourself a favor and stop here for a breakfast/lunch sandwich or coldcuts. Very reasonable prices and did I mention the food is fresh?

Dirty, disgusting place of “business”Came in with a few friends just to check out the store and an old man cursed at us and told us that “us city folk” need to leave and then accused us of stealing from the store.Horrible, dirty and unkept environment, DO NOT waste your time coming here unless you want to be a victim of blatant highway robbery and be insulted as well

I loved this place. I got to speak German to the owner who was so peasant. She gave us good directions to other nearby stores. And she personally cut all of our deli meat and wrapped it so extra nice. Older store, but good products.

Dirty disgusting place. I tried to buy a $5 case of water...they wanted $27 for it. I tried to buy a 4 pack of local beer...costs around $7 everywhere else...they wanted $19 for it. Then I said no thanks and the lady behind the counter yelled at me because I didn't want to restock the items back on her shelf.Avoid this place... And if you wander in, take a shower after.

Don't bother going there. The old hippie behind the counter started cursing and swearing as soon as we walked in. I walked out immediately as I was not going to patronize business that does not want the business. I ended up going to gas station around the corner for what I needed.

they have the BEST "New England hot dog rolls/buns" also great hot dogs, some fresh produce but minimal. BEWARE THEIR FIREWOOD is not dry enough! Other than firewood they have Everything you may need when camping. Convenient local shop. Verizon cell service around this area.

If you are an immune compromised person DO NOT GO THERE! Neither the man or woman working had masks on when entering the store. The man did put a bandana on but the woman never did AND SHES THE ONE MAKING PEOPLES FOOD! Wanted to give her a chance! Maybe she didn’t here me come in, but she does turn around, still no mask, and goes “what do you want”. I left immediately.

The sandwiches we bought we’re a joke. Ham and Swiss on rye. At best a 1/16th of a pound was put on it. I felt like I was eating bread with muster on it. My wife had Ham on a roll. It was worse than mine. The cute little old lady act doesn’t work for me. $14.00 for 2 crappy pieces of bread that had maybe an 1/8 of an inches of meat on it. The store had a few German products in it. My wife spoke to her in German and I answered in German. Still we were totally ripped off. I will say the potatoe salad wasn’t bad. Bottom line stay way from this rip off deli. Or buy a pound of deli meat and 2 rolls and make your own sandwich. This is the 1 and only time I will go here. He worse sandwich I ever got ripped off for.

Was in the area on vacation must say that it's okay if you need to pick up a quick something but honestly thought the store needed a good cleaning. I suppose it is a country market but I didn't feel as though it would be a place that I would return.

The proprietor of this filthy mess is an equally bizarre old man who appears to be angry at customers for entering his establishment. No worries sir, I’ll never bother you again. Good day.

I thought this was a rustic local market and just wanted to get a few things. I put a case of seltzer on the counter and the man at the register barked $8.99 - I was so in shock I just paid for it and left... that was out of control tourist tax right there!
