My brother and sister in law had adopted a few cats from this rescue and recommended them. This place is amazing!!! First off, I was so impressed with the cat room. Clean and a very stimulating environment for the cats. It was a breath of fresh air seeing the cats out in the open and not confined to cages. Secondly, Meredith is incredible! I told her what I was looking for in a cat and she was able to help me find the right fit for my home. She was so knowledgeable on the adoptable cats and her love for what she does shined through the whole time. I ended up bringing home the perfect cat and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Highly recommend this place!

I’m confused by all the 5 star reviews. I know people love their pets and are grateful for the place that they adopt from but shouldn’t it matter if a shelter is sanitary? The building is falling down and dirty. They do not answer their phone or call back messages. Ultimately I ended up stopping by and the tall thin woman who was there did assist me in adopting. She said she was sorry she just got there and just started cleaning. It was 3pm.... when you first walk in there was a ton of open food. Doesn’t that attract rats? The litter boxes were full, there were dogs and cats mixed in the same area there was loud music blasting in the entire building. Unfortunately the water in the bowls were dirty - there was a lack of food. When I asked what she feed she told me 5 star diet only. The bag of food I bought through her was a good brand but don’t you think the money would be better hiring someone to clean? The cat cages were horrific. It’s astonishing she even let me in! There was feces on the floor. Oh the SMELL... omg I could barley breath. All the cats were sneezing. I knew then I needed to rescue one of these babies. There were no references checked, no questions really asked. She gave me a form and then looked for “paper work” for about 1/2 and hour. I handed her cash and she gave me a cat. I brought my cat to the vet after he sneezed and coughed the entire night. She told me it was from allergies. It wasn’t. He needed antibiotics. I called and left 2 voicemails no response. I wanted to tell her that the cats in her room all needed treatment. I’m honestly surprised that this is acceptable way to keep animals. It also scared me to think she is alone there. There is no possible way 1 person can take care of all those cats. There felt like 100 in the one small room - with dogs!!! I called the health department and they said they would “fallow up” I have never heard back. If you don’t believe me stop by and look at this place. She needs help. She needs the animals taken away from her or a full staff. I have never seen a place so unsanitary. This isn’t safe for people or pets. I’m not trying to bash someone who’s trying to do the right thing but she is completely overwhelmed and someone needs to intervene. Unfortunately trying to take measures like calling officials doesn’t seem to work . Maybe if enough people go and see what I saw someone can save these animals.

The word "AMAZING" is an understatement for this place. Meredith and everyone in staff are terrific and wonderful people. As I faced a dilemma they came to my aid and helped my dog and I tremendously. I am grateful for them. My dog is also happy and healthy because of them. Hardworking rescue taking in the hardest animals cases from animal hoarders, rehabilitating poorly socialized dogs and cats and assisting low income pet owners with veterinary bills. There is no other group like them in Suffolk. They are also wonderful at educating new pet owners on proper care serving as a resource to their community. If you were denied a pet from this group, it wasn't without a really good reason.

Wonderful rescue. Does amazing work rehabilitating dogs and cats. Adopted my fur baby from them. Most amazing cat ever! Staff there are amazing, caring and so attentive.

I while back my 5month young cat had 5 kittins I ask Meredith for help,she started by given me food for the a d after I found home for 4 kittian finally catching the runt speedy,had no place 4 her.i recalled Meredith told her what's the update she ask to take her and after a week I checked inn all doing great warm n safe.thanks to all at paws united

I have left numerous voice msgs to schedule an appointment to visit their facility, to adopt a pet, as well as sending numerous emails, and have received ZERO responses. You can only visit the site by appointment ONLY, so therefore if I can't make an appointment, I can't visit the site, to adopt a pet. It's kinda making me go, hmmm.
