Great visit thought my dog was having lung problems because of almost constant panting. Turned out he is in pain from spine and back legs. Lungs are fine. He is 13. Got medicine.

Vivian and the staff are wonderful and always have been. Whether it's taking in a new puppy for uts first visit, or taking that same dog back 13 years later to end his suffering, they are caring and compassionate and will always have us as customers! ❤️

I have never appreciated this vet's approach but I tolerated it for a few years with my pets as they are the only local vet in the area. Unfortunately today I walked out with my terrified pet without letting the vet examine him. The vet was crass, rude and hostile, and provided an unecessary lecture to an owner who was trying to get care for their animal. I've never been in such an uncomfortable veterinary environment. It is so unfortunate and I hope the vet will reconsider her bedside manner and especially her approach with rescued animals.

I have been going to Ameriland since they opened with my cats and dogs. Unfortunately, in the last two years they have had to help me say goodbye to my cat and my boxer. They were amazingly kind and gentle, as well as honest about what our options were. They were able to fit us in the day before Thanksgiving to make sure that Benson didn't suffer.I will continue to use their services in the future.

A wonderful vet! When my dog was ill, she discovered that she had Lyme disease. The test took a while so we left. I wasn't home before she wanted me to return right away. Her treatment plan worked wonders. She is very caring. I would recommend her highly.

We love this vet! After trying two other vet offices and neither could help our beagle get over a skin condition, Ameriland vet got him healthy in under two months. Now all my animals go there and we make the 25 minute drive because of the wonderful staff!

Took our dog here for the first time, and it was a very positive experience. Vet was friendly, and knew exactly what was wrong with our dog. She recommended a switch to grain free dog food, and it worked. Prices are great too, highly recommended.

The doctor and staff are all kind friendly. The building is small and has no frills, but it's clean and tidy. Because it's in a rural area, prices are low for around here. Doctor Surman is knowledgeable, she's an excellent surgeon, clearly loves dogs. She's also a realist concerning finances; with a really sick/ old dog, she explains both treatment options and realistic survival chances. Because it is a small practice, it's not equipped for really specialized or life-threatening situations (like parvovirus, or major orthopedic surgeries) and she will refer you to a large hospital, generally to Cornell's Veterinary Hospital, about thirty miles away.

I've been to many vets in the area. After our favorite vet passed, we have had very bad vets,( wrong diagnosed, and way over priced) like Sececa Falls Animal haspital, and told them off. Now finally we have found this one that has been a true blessing. She will tell you like it is, may be good or bad, but honest and she does not charge an arm or leg. She genuinely cares about our frurry family. I recommend her and her staff hole heartly. Thank you for looking after our family Ameriland Animal hospital.

Dr. Surman is wonderful and very personable. We have 7 dogs and 4 cats and she gets to know each animal. Our oldest cat has cancer and she is helping with the comfort as our cat is still active and loving. I think those in need of a vet would be very impressed with Dr. Surman.

Horrible. Vivian was absolutely rude. I brought my girl in to take the precautions if she was pregnant. I wanted to get her established as a patient. I have heard many people tell me not to go to her because she is going to try and get more money from you. But I am a strong believer in supporting our local businesses. So I gave her a chance. I came with my daughter and our baby girl. Who, by the way, would have been due to give birth that day. I know that a dog can give birth a few days before, or after the 63 days of gestation . But on top of being extremely belittling and rude to me in front of my child, she also claimed to not be able to tell if my dog was pregnant. At full term. Not only was I able to show her that I was doing everything I could to take care of my pups. I also gave her records of everything I had provided for these dogs. Including microchipping, insured, licensed and registered. But then she tried to convince me that I had to get her fixed ( at her office) imediimmedi. Even if it meant aborting her babies. So I pointed out that she would be full term. And that, if she wasn't pregnant, I could then take her to Tompkins county SPCA. And could get her fixed for $20.00 if our family received any type of Medicaid or other services. She then became more agitated, then she already was, and told me that she couldn't tell if my dog was having a false pregnancy or was actually pregnant. Mind you, at 63 days along. That's FULL TERM. And then urged me to come back in 3 days. To pay $171.00 for an x-ray to prove she was pregnant. At full term, this "veterinarian" couldn't tell me if my dog was pregnant? And treated me just awful. In front of my young daughter. To get more money out of me? She was not pregnant. And our , very wonderful veterinarian at Phelps veterinarian hospital, let us know that was pretty much impossible. And of course, it was as they said. A false pregnancy. And they didn't understand how a veterinarian couldn't have know that at full term. Since then I have heard nothing but stories of her doing more to earn money than for the concern of the animal and their owners. Will NEVER recommend to anyone. Far more better options

I'd recommend this place highly, even with travel. Dr. Surman is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, experienced and clearly cares about pets. This place is also one stop shopping for all pet needs. She also makes housecalls when needed. The venue is interesting as far as visuals and I love the decor.

Do not bring your pet here! If your pet is not healthy, she will request that you put it down. I have known 2 other people who have been told to do so, and who have followed through with it!! I was also suggested to do that with my animal, and instead changed vets. Do not go here.
