Knowledgeable staff, esp. the owner Jim Van Houten who is often onsite. You can request special trees/plants from the main nursery to be brought to Union Square if in stock. A favorite farmer!

There is so much variety of everything. From lawn ornaments to plants and saplings, vegetables and fruits, wines and entertainment! The farm has a lot to explore! My daughter enjoys the halloween setups. I definitely recommend experiencing it with your own eyes. There is a little of everything for everyone.

I Love and have Supported Van Houten Farms for 10+ years. I also really loved the cider works. The staff are great and super friendly.Whether you are going for plants/flowers, fresh fruits/veggies or other food products I have always had a great and positive experience.It's sad that crazy and delusion neighbors as well as a weak and superficial political infrastructure took away the best part of this small family run business and that is a fun/family friendly, music filled social spot which was the Cider Works!!

A really great nursery with a very large selection of flowers, seedlings, fresh fruit & vegetables and other fresh local produce. The staff is very nice and helpful and is on hand with advice and action. In conversations with other customers, I learned that the cidery and live music had to be shut down. Unfortunately, a disgruntled and hostile neighbor enforced to have it closed. Really a shame, I was really looking forward to an evening of cider and live music. I hope that the van Houtens will soon win the court case and be able to offer their guests the usual service again. Such local businesses are important for their communities and an ambassador of the community far beyond the borders of the local neighborhood. Bullying neighbors must not win. Definitely a great place to buy everything you need for the garden, the terrace or a healthy meal. I will definitely come back.

11/10- this farm is simply the best. I live in NYC and became acquainted with Van Houten from Union Square market. I have since purchased a plethora of container vegetables and a blueberry bush for my roof. They have a lovely selection of everything from vegetables to plants to trees. Jim, the farm owner, is incredibly kind and helpful, and he has the absolute best workers at the market who always answer my many questions and are a pleasure to talk with. They are my go-to at Union Square Market and am very grateful that they come into the city.

What a great place! Loved the interesting ciders (as well as the hot cider), the biergarten was cozy, and the store has so many great local food options. We bought their homemade vegan ravioli which was amazing. The staff were super friendly as well. We aren't locals but felt really welcome.

Huge variety of every size, type, and color of pumpkins, squashes and gourds! Lots of yard decor (metal and straw), mums and fall plants.They have a nice covered area for people to enjoy cider or wine and donuts. Candidly, I took one sip of the cider and it was NOT enjoyable. I returned it. And the mini donuts were just OK. not worth the $14 bucks. So that part was disappointing.The fresh food market was small but good offerings. Aside from a gigantic witch display which was well done, there wasn't much for young kids to enjoy. It's more for those without kids. The cost was over $100 which was more than I wanted to spend, but I got a garden decor of a red metal truck, and my mother's smile was worth it all.

The plants and flowers are beautiful and the place is easy enough to find. The Management is very responsive to any issues you may have. The flowers are a superior quality and they look wonderful in my garden! I hope you get a chance to visit!

If you want a refreshing taste of the current season, just go to Van Houten Farms. Buds and blooms in the spring and mums and pumpkins in the fall. Friendly service and solid cider. Good selection of local beer, wine, and spirits as well. Grounds are well maintained, spacious, and clean as well. Definitely a nice spot to hang out for a couple of drinks when the weather's nice.

My husband and I visited today. It seems all staff was meeting outside. No one bothered to ask us if we needed help. We were there for a out an hour looking for so m shrubbery. I saw other customers being g helped but we were not even approached. Not sure if it had anything to do with the fact that we were the only African American customers. I was tempted to the my business elsewhere but we stayed in spite of their see.ing bigotry.

We visited Van Houten farms as a tryout for coming with kids and taking pictures. This visit totally excreted our expectations. It's a beautiful fun place with lots of plants and delicious quality fruits and vegetables. Staff were extremely friendly and were very helpful with taking pictures. They have a horseanch in the back that makes it even more enjoyable for kids. Will definately b there many more times!

Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Oh and by the way EVERYONE needs togwr over there and sign a petition to make sure they stay open. Seems like their presence has upset the sensibilities of a neighbor who's trying to get the town to close them even though no violations of any sort ever. They need your support. This was my first time there and I approve this message 😀

Spent my youth going to Van Houten farms in the 70's with my friends. Always had a great time especially at Halloween. I was amazed to see they still keep up the Witch tradition! Great place to visit.

We came here to buy fall perennials at the end of the summer season. Got a wheelbarrow full of perennials about 14 plants for $75. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who know their plants. They also sell some fresh eggs and other items from local farmers.

Sorry , I liked this place better before it changed. Now the prices are tooooo high, the variety is limited. The focus is music, food,beer,cider. No longer a real nursery.However I see they are drawing more customers. Very happy for them.

My spouse and I just bought a home, and we are starting a garden in our backyard and had no idea where to start. Jenn helped us get started and shared all her knowledge with us. She was very nice, and answered all our questions. We will most definitely be returning to buy other products due to her customer service.

My family has been going to Van Houtens for over 60 years. The summers as a kid getting corn and watermellons for barbecues. In the fall picking pumpkins with our grandkids when they were small. Like the expansion of the farm with the cidery and music. Keep up the great work for many years to come.

I was there yesterday. Beautiful pumpkins and different things like Fall Mums. This weekend entertainment live music and bands,check it out. Nice stuff. First time there and I thought people friendly.

Have been going for years but this year I had an interesting visit. I saw a Trex table for 99 dollars and debated it as I went to check out the manager said the price was marked wrong it was 299 but if I wanted it he'll give it to me for 199. I said no even though I wasn't getting it the price tag was 99. He stated it was priced wrong I told him you would have to give it to me for the 99 dollar price as marked and he said no I didn't press the issue but told him the price is the price. Bait/switch?

Beautiful farm with fresh produce. Homemade hard ciders with cheese and meats available to snack on. Loved the beer garden and very animal friendly.
