Hands down no questions 100% THE BEST wings I have ever had. If you go one place in the Adirondacks to eat this is it!!! I highly recommend the Bert's garlic wings, but their prime rib is amazing, and don't forget their hot fries. This is a great place to go and get appetizers or have full sit down meal. The owner Jerry was nice to us, and if you're a "hot head" you MUST get the Armegedon sauce and they even sell bottles of it as a awesome suevenier. Long and short go there you won't be disappointed!!!

Great atmosphere. Went on the earlier side to get a seat at the bar. Colleen (the bartender) is on point. It's hard to find bartenders that can multi-task nowadays. The wings were super-yummy. The BWL selections are great for the area. Definitely will be back again. My father's a long-time regular. 😉

We had a great experience at the Red Dog Tavern. The menu, food, and drinks were all great. If you're staying on the south side of 4th lake, this may be your go to spot. Just a short 10 minute drive from Old forge and Inlet. The staff was perfect- friendly, personable, and spot-on service. We'll look at revisit every time we vacation in the ADK.

The wheels are falling off the bus here. Not sure if this is under new management or what but definitely not the same. Mashed potatoes with prime rib inedible. Tasted like rotted garlic. Terrible service to boot. It’s too bad because this place used to be a must do. Unfortunately will not be back unless there are some major changes.

Went to dinner here with family while we were up for the week. Everyone was so busy eating that we didn't have time to talk! The view isn't anything to write home about, but the friendly staff and great food make up for it. They were packed but service was efficient. This will definitely become a staple when we come up. I wish we thought of it sooner as we have been coming up for years, but kind of just drove by everytime.

Our second time and our last. Service was horrible both times, issues with meals last year, this year they brought out the completely wrong dinner. That was made right by a drink chip. I'm glad I had a drink comped, because they had the audacity to charge me an extra $2.50 for my Manhattan to be "on the rocks." They charged me an extra $2.50 for ice. We'll never eat here again.

We don't get here very often but enjoy every time that we do. The Roman Candles are always phenomenal - this time around we got the Prime Rib special. It was great and we had a really wonderful time. Service was equal to the meal!

Pretty disappointed. We’re visiting a friend’s cabin in Old Forge and decided to order out. Had a large order ($300+). Several items were missing. The food was mediocre. No meals were labeled, so none of us knew which of the same burgers ordered were well done or rare. It would have been a quick thing to do and much appreciated but they did not take the extra effort. We ended up giving additional gratuity on top of the already automatic added gratuity without knowing items were missing. When I called, the bartender woman that answered was rude and did not offer a credit back to the card. Instead said we’d have to come back to get the missing items, which wasn’t feasible. She was rude and literally hung up on me when I said I wasn’t sure and I’d call her back after speaking to the group. It’s just the little things that turn you off to going back to an establishment. I understand you guys can be busy but you made the mistake, don’t be rude. Will not go to this restaurant again.

We haven't been here in years and the wings were good but the sauces were just okay. The mild didn't seem to have any Franks hot sauce and were mostly butter. The sweet and spicy were just a barbecue sauce and had no kick at all. They were cooked correctly. What upset us most was the price. The menu said 10 wings for $12.When we got our bill we were charged $15 for each order. We questioned the waitress and we were then told that they had to charge us more because there is a wing shortage. We were never told before and there wasn't any note on the menu. We were not offered any compensation. We won't be going back. That seems to be a scam.

New owners and the food has gone downhill. They used to have the best wings - crispy like their menu still advertises - but they no longer deliver on the crispness. The soft wings were drowning in the Bert’s Garlic sauce which was watery, lumpy and the minced garlic had a weird metallic aftertaste like the jarred kind. The “Fred’s Alfredo” also looked jarred because it was beige and coagulated and was unceremoniously dumped over soggy spaghetti. The Marinara pasta sauce was also watery. The prime rib (which was $36) was a tough slab of meat thrown on a plate. The food needs more love and pride for these high prices. For an upscale restaurant the servers are nice but clearly need more training. On a Saturday night it was close to empty (Red Dog used to be packed.)On a positive note:+The Quesadilla, salads with grilled chicken, and toasted garlic bread are good+ Ambience is still cuteThe restaurant has clearly taken a dip with the new owners - we’d like to return but they need to invest in training for kitchen staff and servers and go through the menu and just weed out the entrees that are not given the “love” they need. They have too much variety and as a result the quality and consistency really suffers. Focus on doing “fewer things better.”

Very nice food, good service and easy to get a seat around 5 pm. I enjoyed the vegetable burger. More vegetarian and vegan offerings would be nice to see. There wasn't much for plant based eating.

Best Friday night fish fry in the area. Friendly and caring staff, despite being short handed. Even though the Red Dog is experiencing the labor shortage like many businesses, they managed to give great and timely service. Kudos to Amber, the hardest working and most pleasant waitress ever!

My fiancee and I stopped in here as we were enjoying central ADK (Inlet, Eagle Bay, Old Forge). Wonderful ambience, and phenomenal burgers. Sadly, they were out of draught beers when we went, for which I have to remove a star, but they did have plenty of bottled beer. I actually opted for wine with my burger, and it was really good, and the red they had on hand (pinot noir) paired very well with my Shroom Burger. I look forward to going again.

Went in on a Saturday for the prime rib special. Which they were almost out of at 6:00. Ordered their special appetizer of macaroni and cheese bites to share and all 5 of us thought they were gross. One friend ordered a pasta and chicken dish which she had to put a ton of salt, pepper and parmesan cheese on, just to be able to eat it. Been going here for years and it is so hit or miss that it isn't even worth returning. This last visit was all disappointment with the exception of garlic mashed potatoes.

This place is top notch. A jewl in the Adirondacks. I have never been disappointed about the food or service. Few places up here have good food or service, and this has both. The new owner is highly personable and great. I hadn’t been here in 7 years and visited this past summer, the food was as good as ever and just like I remembered it. Not kidding about the food, nobody has better food up here, hands down. Don’t waste your time with any other restaurant, you’ll be sorry you did. Get there early to avoid the lines and the rush (probably the only negative).

Food was good, but the wings weren't as I remember them back in the early '90s. I miss the great variety of heats and styles the used to have in buffalo sauces. This place used to have the greatest wings I've ever had. Hoping to get back soon and give it another try!

The food here is excellent, more in the style of home cookin' than haute cuisine, comfort food in a warm atmosphere. The staff are great- a special shout out to Lee, who has taken care of my family for years. A real taste of the real Adirondacks.

I come to this place at least once a year for vacation dinner. This tavern has a full bar, great wings and blooming onions, and a decent menu. What I find charming about it is that the place has, in my opinion, a city tavern atmosphere, with a small town charm and rural, Adirondack surroundings. Their wings have 4 levels of spiciness, from mild to "Armageddon." Family rumor is that my uncle had a basket of Armageddon wings and, as a result, had first degree burns for at least a week. They sell bottles of their Armageddon sauce and t-shirts. I would recommend this place to all of my friends and co workers. Also, I will definitely be here again in the future.

We stop in every year during vacation. Food is very good. I would normally give them 5 stars but this past year we had an odd experience trying to get a table. There were many tables available but they said the wait would be an hour, and wouldn't explain why. We left, shaking are head in confusion. Will try again though.

The wings at The Red Dog were awesome! Too hot for a few buddies of mine. With some cold milk I was able to enjoy 15!!! The Red Dog's wings can't be beat!!!

This is a unique restaurant in the woods. Fun to take guests to and enjoy their wings and other great food. I have been going here for about 50 years and it never disappoints. Love the atmosphere and the bar.

Very dissatisfied with the service charge and asking for a tip when i picked up my food. I knew there would be a service charge. I thought 2-3$ but apparently thats now $7.40! And the fish fry was already inflated price of 15.95! I will never take out again! So no more red dog until 2021. Good luck with such an outrageous attitude. If i could give no stars i would.

We absolutely love this place. Food is high quality. You never leave there hungry or in any way dissatisfied. Helpful hint, get there really early or really late because the restaurant and parking fills up quickly.

We were two couples staying in Blue Mountain Lake for a few days & decided to go out for dinner one night. There were no real restaurants in the town where we were staying, so we asked a fellow very experienced guest if she had any recommendations. She told us that the Red Dog Tavern was a "quintessential" Adirondack experience, so though there were some closer places we decided to take the trip to Inlet, about a half hour away.We arrived & were seated quickly. We ordered the "deluxe" nachos for the table as an appetizer, two of us ordered French onion soup, I had a chicken sandwich while the rest of our party had various kinds of burgers. The nachos came out after about 10-15minutes -which was fine - but we no sooner has started eating them when all the sandwiches & burgers were brought out. About two minutes after that, the soup arrived last. When this happened, one of my companions said something to the waitress & she replied, "sorry, the kitchen is very fast tonight." We had a table full of food with not much room left to eat, it was pretty ridiculous. We tried to wolf down the nachos, they had pulled pork as an ingredient on top which ranged in temperature from luke warm to pretty cold- perhaps the pork was heated in a microwave & not properly stirred? I ate my sandwich first -it was fine - then the soup which I figured being the hottest item on the table would stay warm. My friend ate his soup first, & by the time he finished his burger & fries were quite cold. Needles to say he was not very happy & sent them back. They offered to reheat/replace the burger, but having experience in the restaurant business he was hesitant to do so as sometimes "things happen" as they say in the kitchen to food that has been sent back & since we'd never been here before you never know so he refused. The other burgers were Turkey - very dry - & a 'shroom burger ordered medium rare. It came VERY well done & dry. She said it was one of the worst burgers she'd ever eaten. In fairness, the wait staff was pleasant, & when we complained to the manager they took the burger off the bill & the one round of drinks we had.All in all, not good & certainly not worth the trip . As my friend who sent his burger back said to the woman that had recommended this place when we returned to the lodge, "If this was the quintessential Adirondack experience, I'm going to the Catskills next time!"I don't see a way to respond to the owner, so I will add that we were there Monday evening 8/13.

The Red Dog remains an ADK classic! Jerry, who will remind you of the late Robin Williams in both looks and good humor, has been running (literally) this place the for last 3 years. He has only made it better. The Dog had perhaps the coziest feel of any local establishments....the flags of many countries are still suspended from the ceiling and all the food is really good and tasty. Roman candles are still on the menu but I always return to the Salad Diane in honor of the former, fun owner. It has to be the best salad ever and will fill you up! Our waitress was Sara who was fun and full of energy. A must stop!
