This is our family's third year staying at the Palms. We stay in one of the cottages and have never been disappointed with the quality service we receive from the staff. They are consistently available and friendly. Quickly responding to our needs and requests, always looking to make our stay the best possible. The king size beds are extremely comfortable and housekeeping services are available daily and upon request. All of our requested beach supplies were provided quickly and conveniently, the bikes are always available and I'm still hoping to use one their kayaks during our next stay. The buffet breakfast is always displayed beautifully and full of fresh and delicious options. An added bonus this year was seeing all of the renovations done to the facility. They also now provide discounts for several restaurants as an additional perk! Can't wait to return next year to start off our summer!

Best place on earth and Palms is the best experience on this islandThere is no better place on earth than fire island and no better place to stay than The Palms !!! John R and his staff are the best in the business and treat everyone like family. Rooms were clean neat well appointed and decorated impeccably. I have been going to ocean beach for over 30 years and stayed in some of the seediest summer rentals ever. So to have an actual hotel experience on this piece of paradise was a total treat !!! You will not be dissatisfiedloved itRooms: well appointed and great locationWalkability: there are no cars ....it is all walkingFood & drinks: The landing and the other restaurants that are affiliated with this property are amazing

Great for a short stay in Fire Island. It's a hotel, so all the amenities you would expect, plus a small breakfast spread, champagne hour(s), water bottle, use of beach supplies, towels, bikes, etc. It's actually a collection of several properties (we stayed at Bayside, I believe, it was maybe a 4 minute walk from the main building). At our room location, there was the shore side private sand beach and lounge, and bar service - which I didn't get a chance to use. The main building has the lounge and dining area. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Other than a little issue with the door (which the front desk addressed), it was exactly what we needed.A con to note as others have mentioned is that the room size is on the smaller side. We were 2 adults and 2 kids in 2 double beds and it was just enough room for us.We stayed a Monday and Tuesday night, so can't speak on the noise level (Monday had a few night revelers, but nobody else in my party noticed.. and Tuesday was very calm). The shared wall with our neighbor had the adjoining door, so it wasn't very insulated, but they were very courteous (we tried to be as well) about noise levels before and after certain hours (we were both traveling with children). The area is right in the commercial district, so no shortage of restaurants, bars, stores, dessert shops.. also a playground and the ferry are less than 5 minutes away.

Such a great spot! The rooms were immaculate and the staff was so great. They were very pleasant to work with and flexible as well, we booked an additional room last minute for a friend to stay as well and they got his room ready very quickly. They had bikes, beach towels, they let us store our luggage before check in and after check out which was so nice to be able to enjoy the rest of the day after check out and not have to drag our bags around. They even let us sign out bikes to use even though we were technically checked out as guests already, they still were super accommodating and very generous with the time they allowed us! Will definitely be back!

Pros: We thought the staff here was very thoughtful and helpful. Jen, in particular, was instrumental in helping me make the reservation and figuring out travel to the island. They also will give you a wagon with beach chairs and an umbrella to go to the public beach and set up your day. Location is right on the main strip in ocean beach. Cons: The private beach couldn’t be used the day we got there because there was a private party. The “private beach” was basically an area near/under a dock with chairs on it with sand. We went back in the evening to the private beach around 9 pm, after the private party was over, and there were random drunk people who were not staying at the hotel and teens smoking pot there. At nearly $700 for a room in the Bungalows, this hotel just did not seem to provide the value for money we had hoped it would.

Nice friendly staff but I wouldn’t recommend to be honest due to the size of the rooms!! My best mate booked the rooms with another friend of mine and his wife. We had the impression that we were going to have some sort of shared suit you sometimes get where you have a communal area but separate rooms (en-suite bathrooms). We got two rooms with adjoining door which I can only describe as door which didn’t shut properly or lock! Room size I would guess as I’m 6ft1 as around 8ft by 10ft at best (you couldn’t swing a cat inside!!). The bed was comfortable but the window opened to the outside communal area where everyone came to sit and chat (I loved listen to the two loud annoying ladies discussing their marital issues whilst their husbands where out fishing.. what a joy!!). The en-suit bathroom was in my friends room so as he was with his wife I gave them privacy and used the shower at the end of the hall along with toilet which wasn’t kept very clean as a lot of people were using it!! To top off the stay we had a fire alarm as some BRIGHT SPARK decided to light a cigarette in the non-smoking room (no apologies from the hotel staff about this which I thought was slightly lame!).Price!!!! OMG I found out late that my best mate had paid $1600 for 2 nights including taxes… not even worth half that amount. I get was Fire Island but it wasn’t in the season quite yet. However I guess it’s a captive market so these rates can be charged…

Great location. Draws a crowd of very kind and friendly people who want to stay there. Great sandwich platter and champagne with rose petals services. We stayed in a king room and it was very tight. Cleanliness was adequate. Rooms need a little attention such as fixing or replacing broken lighting. Very lovely continental breakfast spread.

A short trip to far away! We had 46 people stay at The Palms Hotel Fire Island for a birthday event. The hotel itself was quaint, clean, comfortable, and in a great location. We also had a cocktail event held there. Kerrie and Laura were amazing with keen attention to details. The entire staff were welcoming and personable. We will be back again for sure.

Just got back from a wonderful stay at The Palms Hotel in Ocean Beach Fire Island. The customer service was fantastic! Between Jenn & Laura any small issue we had was taken care of right away. Our room was spotless (thanks to Rasheed, our housekeeper). We stayed in the Bungalow building, which our room was small, but you do have a choice of other sized rooms and you are only in there to sleep. The air conditioner cooled the room down so quickly. The wood floors are such a nice feature as opposed to hotels that just have carpeted rooms (which always turn me off). Our room had a small refrigerator in it, but it was much larger than the typical "dorm sized" refrigerator, so plenty of room to to put your leftovers (no microwave in our room, but I believe other rooms may). There wasn't an elevator in our building, so be prepared to carry your luggage upstairs if you're on the 2nd floor. I love their texting feature that allows you to get in touch with staff ASAP - before, during, and after your stay - so convenient. Their courtyard is so cute and we spent a few hours there. The loft building in the courtyard is so nice since you can not only get towels, wagons and bikes there, but you can store your luggage there before check in and after check out so you don't have to carry it around town all day. The Palms definitely made it worth staying on the island instead of just going home at the end of the day. Would definitely go back again.

The Palms is the perfect Fire Island destination. From the rooms to the staff, they take so much pride in their hospitality and will go to great lengths to make sure their guests are well taken care of. We hosted our wedding weekend at The Palms and they were beyond accommodating from the moment we reached out to them about hosting our guests. Kerry was always available for any question and was so easy to work with - it felt like planning an event with a friend. She not only helped hand place each guest based on their requests, but she, along with The Palms staff, put together a beautiful Welcome Dinner on their Palms Bay Beach and the perfect Farewell Bunch in The Palms Courtyard. Every single detail was considered and our guests loved the setting and Brendans's amazing food.Des and Jeanne were so kind and welcoming to all of our guests and went out of their way to make sure every guest was content, had what they needed, and were able to find their way around the island throughout their stay. Laura spent time prior to the wedding answering every single guest question and we're still getting compliments on how kind and helpful all of the staff were to our guests - many of whom had never been to the island before. We can't recommend The Palms enough as both an event venue and a hotel - they went above and beyond our wildest expectations and their hospitality made our guests' weekend - everyone is already planning their return to Fire Island!

While Fire Island itself was lovely, The Palms Hotel left A LOT to be desired. I will say the staff was very good about getting your wagon together for the beach, but that’s about it. We were in a bay front efficiency. The bathroom was extremely small. The bay front window could not be opened. No iron/board in room b/c of fire code (that’s a new one for me!). The no pet hotel clearly had a barking dog in the unit next to ours. Housekeeping was sporadic at best, regardless of tipping generously. Shoes had to be worn in the room at all times because the floors were filthy. Tape was still on the walls from someone’s previous celebration. Mold. The mattresses desperately need to be replaced. Mirrors and drawers needed a good cleaning. Did I mention the mold? The “fully” stocked kitchen was lacking (for example, one coffee mug). All this and more for top dollar. Never again.

My friend and I stayed at The Palms on August 24, 2021. Our stay was delightful. The hotel manager, Brie was especially accommodating to all of our requests. She truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Our room was clean and had just enough space for our needs. The complimentary breakfast was perfect. We can’t wait to stay again!

Great room! They provided beach chairs and umbrellas. The also had a backyard area that was fantastic to lounge and have drinks... the service was exceptional, the ladies at the front desk didn’t seem very professional but the guys in charge of holding bags and umbrella were great. Also the gentlemen in charge of the backyard, catamaran, grill area was awesome! WillDefinitely stay again!

Rooms were spacious and clean. Bathrooms were modern and well-stocked. Treats were waiting for us when we arrived. Staff was expert and attentive, anticipating our needs. Everybody was beyond accomodating, from offering to assist with luggage or beach chairs to bringing extra towels. It's not an easy proposition to run a first-class hotel in a seasonal community but they pull it off in flying colors. We realy liked that the staff was there to fullfill our needs. Great breakfast. They have their own pub/restaurant a few doors down (CJs, home of the rocket fuel drink). Easy check-in and check-out. We rode their bikes around the island on a picture-perfect sun-kissed day. Great beach services from chairs to umbrellas to carts. They offered to pick us up from the ferry but it wasn't needed since everything is so close by. Staff gave great recommendations for dining on the island. Not a a single hiccup. My group and I will return soon!I highly recommend Ocean Beach and The Palms.

This could just as easily be a 5 star review as the 4 that it is but covid happened and island life is hard on buildings and facilities. That said a few stable months of business and some hours of elbow grease will solve that. The staff was great, Donald and Vincent in particular were all about making our time here better. Breakfast on the patio before heading off on a walk or to the beach is a nice touch and I really liked the second floor deck outside our room. We'll be back.

The staff was friendly and helpful. No complaints. I want to give this place a chance since I was told they are under new management for the past two weeks after asking what’s going on. Definitely need to deep deep clean the rooms…The floors for sure, the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen.. the moldy smell in the room and the ac smell was pretty bad. The mold is most likely because of the small bathroom with a floor drain and a small curtain so water sprays out regardless how hard you try not to flood the bathroom. The ceilings are chipping.. For the price we paid…. this was really bad I’m sad to say. So much potential. A special shoutout to CJ’s for helping us out with amenities and being very friendly.

I'm traveling a lot and this was my worst hotel experience ever. To enter or leave the hotel we needed to wade through a ankle deep puddle of canal water because the place was flooded (yes, you read that right). The hotel didn't notify us about this in advance and didn't do anything to resolve the situation. In addition the rooms were so tiny that we could hardly open up our suitcases. On top of that, the rooms were dirty with hairs in the leaking sink and smelly blankets, we woke up covered by mosquito bites and the "great view" that was advertised was to a dark wall that was only two feet away from the windows. They were also freezing cold and we weren't able to regulate the AC. As if that wasn't enough the rooms were super noisy. We woke up every time someone was walking in the corridor and constantly heard noises from the reception or the plumbing in the wall. Due to the backyard being flooded we needed to take our breakfast while standing in the reception. The food quality at breakfast was also quite poor - the watermelon was rotten and the overall selection quite limited. You also need to take the reviews with a grain of salt - the hotel promises benefits in case you leave a positive review.

This was my first time ever coming to ocean beach, at 40+ years old I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t even know it existed. I was referred to this hotel by an associate and was told it would be the best spot to stay. I went online to reserve the room and felt I had read everything and was informed of what I wanted. Upon arrival I was given a room with two full sized beds but I went with my girlfriend so that immediately was a problem. Of course contacting the concierge was of no help and I partially understand that there were no other available rooms to accommodate the mistake but to tell me that your staff has no control of reservations made online, concerns me. Maybe you should change the way that is done so you can review it and also alert people that to avoid mistakes they should call and not make the reservation online, I made this reservation in February so there was plenty of time to fix this based on the fact that I put that only two people were coming. Below are the major complaints I had with the room.1. The door was very difficult to open upon arrival, I had to throw my body weight into it to open it and my girlfriend couldn’t even do it, it took until day 2 to fix it and after that it was better, it should've been checked prior to arrival.2. The bathroom is too small to operate in at all for tall (I’m 6’4”) people and hardly for her 5’3” height and should be redone to accommodate people properly. The sink is clearly clogged because you can't even run the water without it filling up. The shower curtain doesn't even reach the floor and allows water to soak the floor and since there’s hardly room to move around you are in that water completely because the towel doesn’t even fit in that area with the door also.3. Two beds was not ideal for a couple but neither bed was comfortable at all and probably could use replacing more often than I imagine is done. You can feel the springs inside of it.4. The kitchenette is outdated and useless, the refrigerator doesn't work right and had a puddle of water in it and is basically wasted space. The cabinetry is useless completely as no one seems to be renting long term otherwise they grab a cottage and not this closet of a room.5. The drawers in the dresser were not cleaned out prior to arrival. There were tags from someone else's prior purchases in them. The nightstand is completely useless where it is in the corner at the end of the bed.6. There's a metal frame sticking out from under one of the unnecessary beds that is dangerous and painful when you hit your foot on it. That should be fixed. All in all I was very unhappy with the accommodations and will not be staying there again nor would I recommend it to anyone. It was very disappointing and it seems that there is no money spent on updating the rooms as the style is extremely outdated and uncomfortable.

Our stay here was very quite & pleasant just the way we love it.The staff was very sweet and available for us. We stayed our first night of our honey moon here in the suite with a balcony and we had a complimentary bottle of champagne. That was wonderful. Chucky was so nice to us.My only problem is with the food not being covered to well while out doors but it was still set up nice and muffins were tasty. Fresh coffee with fruit too!Thank you to The palms team. We already booked for our Aug 1 yr ANNIVERSARY too. 🤗

I love this hotel. I would give it 5 stars but the room was small. They completely have the Fire Usland experience down. They provide you with a wagon, chairs, towels, umbrella and cold water at no charge. The staff came around with warm cookies. It was great!

I was there for a murder mystery weekend it was amazing! The staff was really helpful. The location is amazing. They had this art walk on Saturday that was super fun. I want to go back with my family next year.We were close to a club that was rockin' til super late but I didn't hear any of it. I loved the private beach on the bay and the salmon at CJ's was super tasty. I will be back!

The photos are not indicative of the actual experience. First and foremost know that the hotel offers loyalty status for good reviews so be wary ("Guests who write positive reviews on Trip Advisor or Google will have their guest profiles noted and will be added to our Palms Loyalty List" which includes many benefits I'm happy to share, so pay to play in essence). The rooms have cheap fixtures, bed linings, kitchenettes and the bathroom in an RV is no doubt bigger (and nicer) than the room we stayed in. Once you start to look in the cracks, it's pretty gross. Case in point, the bottom of our socks were completely black within one hour. Also, be sure to understand where the room is actually located as there are "satellite" locations close to the main drag. This means dragging bags back and forth, picking up wagons, coffee, etc back and forth, bags up and downstairs, and potentially staying next to very loud clubs. Customer service is okay, but after a horrible check-in experience, there was no offer to make things right. Even the outdoor space on the sound side was full of cigarette butts. I recommend checking Airbnb, VRBO or other hotels before booking here. Regardless of this experience, Fire Island is amazing and encourage everyone to visit and appreciate the beauty of the island.

Nice cozy suite with 3 rooms that sleeps 8. The beds are king size in the main rooms. The smaller room has a set of twin beds. Sofa bed in the living room. Full size kitchen. Direct TV service for viewing. Great customer service. Very nice complimentary breakfast. They lend bikes out for their customers and pull along wagons. They also provide beach chairs and towels. They hold your luggage after checkout for you to be able to enjoy the afternoon before catching a ferry back. Very nice place on Fire Island. Recommend spending a weekend here but make sure to bring as much/many of the items/things that you'll need because the stores are a bit pricey and you will be overpaying for whatever you may need. This is a very nice place to stay at overall.

GREAT place!!! Highly recommend. My husband and I go there every year and stay in one of the king rooms at The Palms Bungalows. They held our luggage and let us use beach chairs, towels, umbrella, and wagon before check-in and after check-out. There's a continental breakfast buffet on the weekends. The rooms are clean, well maintained and the kings rooms are pretty with white bedding and chandeliers. The people are very nice and professional. I made a mistake with our reservation on Labor Day weekend and Antonija was absolutely awesome. The manager Laura was great also and they fixed it for us. We'll definitely be going back again next year.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had the best time. We booked the romance package and upon check in were upgraded to the Presidential Suite - which was absolutely beautiful. The room was amazing and so clean. The staff couldn't be nicer. We enjoyed all the amenities the hotel had to offer. We were sad to leave but looking forward to booking our next trip there. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel to stay at. They offer beach towels, beach chairs, and umbrellas plus a wagon so you can leave them at home. The rooms are AMAZING! Great views of the bay and of town. Centrally located so all bars and restaurants are a short walk from your room. The breakfast is bagels and danishes plus fruit and a assortment of drinks. Great to grab and head to the beach. The rooms are modern and very clean. The suite we had came with a full kitchen and a large patio that has spectacular views of sunrise and sunset. Beds are comfortable and room service does a great job. There was wifi in our room. What you get for the price of a room is very worth it. I would highly recommend this place for a quick getaway from your everyday life. So come enjoy the sun and fun, it's just a ferry ride away!

A "Home away from Home" is how I feel when checking into the Palms Hotel. Have been going many years and it is a trip I will continue to take with my family. Staff is always courteous and quick to help, especially when taking 3 children with me, the staff never hesitated once to accomodate my needs. Room was immaculate, was exactly what was described to me for a large family needing a lot of room. Clean, Clean, Clean! That is number one for me. Our room was a short beautiful walk away from the beach. Kerri was very professional in directing me where I could find a wagon and towels to cart our stuff to the beach. The whole process went smoothly as it always does and kept my family happy. Check in and check out was quick and easy. Took a while packing up, but the front desk was diligent and speedy to get us to our ferry. Also had a young guy (do not remember his name) help us with our luggage to ferry. My family and I look forward to our getaway trips every summer to The Palms Hotel.Thank you for loving what you do!!!!! It shines through with every guest....

Will never stay at this hotel ever again. The one star goes to Shavone the hotel manager on duty who tried her best to redeem this horrendous place. At first, the room we booked was filled and we had to be placed elsewhere away from the beach which we originally requested. The place was disgusting, cleaning staff had no clue how to clean, pubic hairs were found on the dresser, bed sheets, bathroom, etc. The bed sheets were dirty, there was grime on the floor, rotten food left in the freezer and oven; disgusting dirty foot prints on the walls. We were without access to a bathroom throughout our stay. The front door was broken, rusty 4 inch nails protruded out from the door. The steps to walk in were broken, one step and you could break your ankle. The fire alarm had no batteries in it. The list goes on!!! No matter how many complaints we put in, help was scarce. the best they could do for us was a $200 gift card to their restaurant which only bought our party two rounds of Rocket Fuel. For $4k for only 2 days, I feel completely robbed!!! No one had a sense of hospitality and urgency. Our bachelor party weekend was severely affected by this horrible stay. We will be reporting the hotel to the health department and have reported to the Better Business Bureau!

Love this hotel. Cost a little more but worth it. The rooms are immaculate, the people are always so friendly, and they have multiple properties so you can take advantage of all the amenities. We rode bicycles (you must if you stay here, see all around) and hung out with Chuck at the bayside Palm hotel. You can not find a nicer guy around, he's a Fire Island staple. Definitely going back again!
